This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

So I have a feeling more shit like this is going to start happening. This game was in the Indie Gala Every Monday #7 bundle back on May 12-19, 2014 btw.

Basically, the developer of The Fall of Gods changed the game to free and locked it to a demo that you need a password to get the full version and is telling people to Paypal him $3 so Bad Juju doesn't get the money BUT he also changed the game to a demo for all existing owners and we don't have a password.

Which doesn't make any sense. I OWN the damned thing. I've had it for over a year and it came from Indie Gala anyhow so there's no concern of Bad Juju getting money for it.

You do know you can turn off sales of the game without affecting legitimate owners, right?

People can activate the game through a key and get the full game. You know, keys you can get from Indie Gala and stuff.

Oh jeez, I just searched for a place to buy the game elsewhere. There isn't a single place that isn't Kinguin, G2A, or Tremor-like.

Yeah I am seeing now if anyone cared enough to pie-rat it because I don't know how else to get the old non password locked demo copy of it that I used to own.

Indie Gala were lazy fucks and didn't host a direct download like Poopees usually does.

I just told him that he deactivated the game for ever person that bought that Gala and that Desura got no money from those sales.

If he refuses to budge, well, I guess I'll just post at Reddit or something.

 
If it was on Greenlight I wouldn't care because then we'd either get Steam keys or badger him until he relented and gave them anyway. My concern now is that if one developer gets away with locking away games people already own on Desura (that aren't on Steam) that others might too.

It's not our fault that Bad Juju can't pay their bills and in any case for people who own these games through bundles the money long since changed hands and didn't go to Bad Juju at all.
 
YES, it looks like I'm getting through to him. He didn't know you activated the game with a key. I just explained the whole "restricted game" thing to him so hopefully you'll get the game back.

Edit: And he deleted Sifu's replies. Oy.

Well I guess if he's at least listening (and not deleting) that's something.

I also got the impression he is ESL too so that may be part of the misunderstanding, but still maybe think about shit next time before reacting. I swear these indie devs must have devoted all their brain cells to coding and game design to the point that they had none left for anything else.

This is a terrible response. People who legitimately purchased your game, directly on Desura or through Indie Gala, have a right to know how to play the game they already own.

I'm sorry that IndieRoyale is going through bankruptcy, but you should create a solution that does not require previous owners to pay for your game twice.

Activating your game, which I purchased from Indie Gala, only gives the demo version on Indie Royale. There needs to be a solution that does not require a customer to pay for a license key ON TOP of paying for your game.

Please stop deleting posts of users with legitimate concerns. It will give you a bad reputation going forward.

EDIT: The game is no longer free...and a minute later, the full version is no longer on Desura, just the demo.

Just wondering, does anyone have an extra Steam key for Crystal Story II? I have it on Desura but not on Steam, so it would be nice to have a Steam copy of what looks like a good title.

Thank you for these, I'll ensure they have a Viking funeral. And The Void is on Tremor for 195 coins, in case you don't have it on Steam.

 
Foxhack, they still work if you download them using the client then zip the folders in the Desura folder to back them up? Lots of these games store local data in the AppData folders, but if it's that easy then I'll just queue them all from the client.

EDIT: Realized that I would be creating registry entries for all of them, then I'd have to uninstall them after. Over 1000 games...no way. I'll just use a download scheduler.

No idea, sorry. Some of them come with standalone installers... I'm only grabbing the stuff that -can- be backed up easily. No point in grabbing 1000 games.

I was trying to look it up but could someone, I think CheapLikeAFox could post about the multiplayer group again...I likely would do about 1 out of 4 games...but I play when I can....I couldn't find it when I did a thread search.

Just want to say thanks to whomever posted a link to steam idler, I've sold roughly $17 worth of cards in the past week. Will net a couple free games during the steam sale

 
So even though the Steam summer sale is approaching I decided to use my card balance towards FakeyBro'ing the Steam Link.  Probably wont regret it at all unless there a great price on This War of Mine

Anybody else looking forward to it at all?  I feel like i'll actually play some of my PC games if i can be sitting on my couch

Not to sound mean, but I'm not sure Valve cares that much about 2 dollar game developers. After all, these are the guys who often toss their games in bundles dirt cheap over and over again. All that does is increase the infrastructure costs of Steam while giving back nothing to Valve.

They are probably willing to lose quite a few 2 dollar developers if they can get refunds to make people more likely to try out 40 to 60 dollar games. After all, Valve's slice of 60 bucks is way bigger than some 2 to 5 dollar purchase.

Currently have a walmart chair w/o any padding left and Astro A40's w/ MixAmp I got for $60 new....

Need some input (even tho this is CAG)

 
Couldn't care less about these two-hour 'game' 'developers' who poop out crap to sustain their  meager existence.  If your game is no longer than two hours and has no replay value you deserve to be broke.
