Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

You can also leave your PSN ID in the thread, saying you want to join, and we can invite you directly as well.

It was "different", they added lame ass motion controls which for me personally added NOTHING to the overall experience. Well let me not say "nothing", it added frustration from time to time. LOL

Persona 5 CE comes with the OSTs for the previous games, not the actual games themselves. Also, more news coming E3.

And the entire cast is pretty much revealed from the box art and dlc images.

I spent so much time in RE6, I love that game. Leon's story is especially well done since it went back to implementing the original zombies and such.

I can understand complaints about Chris' story since it's pretty much an extension of RE5, but besides that the game was great IMO.

And yeah, Persona 5! All we need is a western release date and we'll be set!

 
Just look at the battle in TMS!   This game reeks of Persona goodness and doesn't feel like Fire Emblem at all.  I wonder what the gameplay will be like outside of battles and cutscenes, bc that's all I've really seen.  Game looks legit!

I would never wish for any Atlus game to fail, as they also are one of my favorite localizing companies behind Xseed. Just starting to watch the Persona 5 stuff and I hope to heck we get it this year (my pick is on late November in NA). A New Star Ocean and Persona game is amazing for me...easily two of my favorite JRPG series. There is also that FFXV, but I haven't been a fanboy since FFIX likely.

The new Chie v2.0 is looking pretty hawt!  Same with blondie.  Even the swashbuckling, gun-toting, maid looking girl near the end looks great.  I almost missed her on the first viewing.  Not so sure about the navigator chick though.  Anyways, the whole cast of protagonists just looks fantastic.  The bright colors, the art design of the game, as well as the semi cell-shaded dungeons and fonts just looks awesome.  I want to farm and commence fusions with Igor immediately.

P4DAN:CE has gone back down to $45-$50 price on amazon. It's prime only but there are 3rd party sellers with similar price after shipping/tax.

What about buying games in the core series at launch? (RE5, RE6, ect.)

Without sales near launch for the core games, thats how a franchise dies. No revenue, no more franchise.

If the game sucks (Operation Raccoon City) then yeah, vote with your wallet and skip it. But if the game was good (is good, getting good reviews) support them by picking it up new. Or else, yeah. No more games for that franchise.

I'm not a huge RE fan. I do find the games well worth $10 or under. However, if the franchise were to end, I wouldn't be particularly heartbroken.

All I remember was same year or month release. but yeah that died after the first time it was delayed. I see its still releasing in summer technically like they promised though they are 7 days away from the beginning of fall so too little too late. Not like it matters much for japan. Here's hoping they announce the rest of the worlds release dates soon.

The three new team members being all girls is interesting. rounds out the party to 7 playable characters and comp chick is obviously the pointless battle announcer aka captain obvious in retard mode. god I wish they'd get rid of the battle announcer already.

well they came out in a time where there was dlc but none of the games released on modern systems at the time so they couldn't get dlc. now the psp/psvita ports on the other hand they could of easily added dlc to but didn't to my knowledge.

originally yes we were supposed to get it but now its up in the air whether we will or wont. Since there hasn't been any news regarding that since the first time it was delayed. odds are in our favor though as there's no reason not to localize it for them since that's lost revenue and atlus can't afford that.

That's what I'm hoping. The track record of games in general suggest it'll only come out on the PS4 outside of Japan, but since I don't have one (yet), I've been hoping that the PS3 version will still make it's way over. If not...then I guess playing the game will just have to wait until I decide to get a PS4 in a few years, lol.
