On the contrary I'd say Overwatch is the first good game they've made in ages.
Wouldn't disagree, Overwatch is a breath of fresh air for Blizzard. I'm hoping them embracing the console aspect of gaming instead of being shady about it (like with D3) helps them have a better product going forward.

Every Blizzard CE they put out is well worth what they ask for it. Wait until you play the full game. Amazing and to top it off, NO SEASON PASS because everything DLC related is free (with the exception of the ability to buy loot crates for skins, taunts, etc.).
No Season Pass in Halo 5 didn't make the maps not suck. I haven't gotten a piece of DLC from the DOOM Season Pass I paid $32 for yet, and I already think that it's a better value.

Just received my Overwatch CE and you guys are right this thing actually surprised me in weight I had it double boxed did everyone else also have it like that?? It even still had sticker in which it said not to sell before a date

They slapped the Best Buy packing slip right on the outside of the box, so it was the box directly from Blizzard.

All the maps in Overwatch at launch are better than Halo 5 was at any point.
That means they're not the worst collection of maps ever. That doesn't make them good.

Honestly, what people are buying into this game for--it's Blizzard--is a big reason why it never got a thought from me (I never even started up the beta, totally forgot about it). I'm not big on the Blizzard portfolio as a whole, not the kinds of games I enjoy. However, I did play WoW for some time, and with how bad that game got with Draenor, I can't even begin to trust them to publish something I'd enjoy anymore.

You can't judge something by a companies "portfolio". WOW is not even remotely the same team and has nothing in common.

I'm not comparing the games. I'm saying the publisher's development teams haven't done things that interested me in some time. Basically, if they're publishing it, I'm unlikely to enjoy it. Same could be said for the fact I'm not going to like music off of many record labels--they simply don't put out things that interest me.

I've learned enough about Overwatch to know it doesn't interest me, and I don't think Blizzard's reputation, to me, makes it worth a $40-50 investment to prove it.

I get your point about developers (Blizzard is a huuuuuuuuuge dev who staffed up for Overwatch) but this game is so different from an RTS, clicker RPG, or MMO. If you just don't like team shooters then stay the hell away from Overwatch. Although, I've seen people who do not like this kind of game get real into the beta and early launch. Game is just full of polish, feels great all around, and I am glad it exists.

Overwatch looks fun but its also 60 dollars and tf2 is free
As a former tf2 player(I paid for tf2 back in the day) and now overwatch player I can tell you it's well worth the upgrade. I've played blizz games before (d2, StarCraft 2, Warcraft 3 and a bit of WoW) but they were never really a good fit for me and I never found them as incredible as everyone else. Overwatch is that incredible. It's just a damn near perfect team shooter. So much fun. Well worth it.

Question for you fellows who also got the pre-order license plate.... What are you doing with it? I really want to display it somehow cus of how nice it is but I'm not really sure how to. Doesn't really look like wall mounts for license plates are a thing so now sure how exactly to hang it on my wall and don't really have any other ideas for what to do with it.

I'm putting my on a bookshelf with all my other swag/funko/etc.. figures for now. But, yeah awesome game I think anyone will enjoy it. Just fair warning your team will suck if you don't have friends who play. You can't carry a match like on siege.

Overwatch is easy to pick up game wise but takes a bit to master. There are small tips and tricks to each character that can be used to counter another specific character. Also what dravack said, it's a heavily based team game. You can be MVP but if your team makes are ball sack then you'll lose regardless against a team that works together.

P.S. Did anyone pre-order Grand Kingdom from Amazon?

Cause I have a pre-order of Grand Kingdom Launch Edition for $49.99 but it's currently listed for $59.99 and there is no mention of prime discount on it. Standard Edition which I had thought was MSRP at 49.99 says prime is $47.99, which is the price of $59.99 after prime discount....either way my order is wrong.

Buying that Hyper Light Drifter CE because I'm a nostalgic dumbass.

I have a Grand Kingdom preorder but mine is the limited edition which I got double discounted on so it's only $52.

It was shortly on sale and you got the lower price.

Yeah sure is great they're not trying to take advantage of anyone by offering meaningful content at a discount.

That feel when you already brought $40 worth of Loot Boxes.....(Got like 4 Legendary Skins and nearly 3k currency, so totally worth)
*cough*

Season passes overall get shit on waaay too much. Of course theres turds out there but theres plenty that are well worth their asking price.

Well, I can and do.

It isnt the same team but its the same company and blizzard has always had a track record of good quality as a whole because of their standards. Thats why their games when released are highly polished, they test extensively, they listen to their fanbase, they continue to patch their games (even diablo 2 and starcraft 1 got patches not long ago), and even in cases where they have a bad launch they fix it as quickly as they can. Just in general the company as a whole has a good track record of doing what they do very well. Games they make even in genres I dont care for I end up liking, such as heroes of the storm and now overwatch I enjoy. When I see blizzard releasing a game I am confident Ill enjoy it.

The only exception is warcraft, and that isnt because it wont be done well, its because Im tired of MMO's in general. Every expansion for the last 2 or 3 I just run my main guy through it, do the raids and cancel my account because the genre as a whole doesnt interest me anymore.

Kind of like when EA makes a game despite having different teams Im pretty not that interested in, ubisofts majority of titles I am very "meh" about.

Or in the instance of a local guy who owns 3 different kinds of restaraunts here. They have different food, different cooks and so on but I judge them all by the fact of who runs and owns them because he is a stickler for quality and wants all of his teams to do well, and they do.

It's worth it because it's one of the best and most fun games out now, not because it's by blizzard. You are the missing out if you use Blizzard as an excuse to not play it.

Overwatch is seriously ruining any chances for me to make a dent in my backlog. I want to sit down and play through Uncharted but now I just load up Overwatch and keep telling myself "Okay one more match then I'll stop."

"It's Blizzard" is the entire reason I had even a modicum of interest in Overwatch. I've been a huge blizzard fan since the days of Rock n Roll Racing and Lost Vikings for the SNES. Loved the Diablos, Warcrafts, Starcrafts on PC (and D3 on PS4 for that matter - I was skeptical about how well it would translate to console, but was thoroughly impressed). Played more WoW than I care to admit to for a couple years.

I'm not a big shooter fan at all (with the exception of same-space LAN parties where it's more of a social hangout thing) and I couldn't care less about online multiplayer (even my MMORPG days were played more same-room with friends when I owned a gaming center). But I'm willing to give Overwatch a try just because of my past enjoyment of Blizzard games and I especially want to support them in their console releases. Hopefully this weekend I'll actually have time to finally open the thing.

The struggles of finally having an abundance of quality games to play.

Division is pretty much dead to me now.

I have no problem buying a season pass for a game I really enjoy, like Uncharted 4 (even though the content hasnt come out for me to judge yet). I'm not sure about the trend of "our studio will be releasing new maps and modes for free for the next (x) months". Games are so expensive to make these days- and you get what you pay for.

I would happily pay more for a Rainbow Six Siege season pass that assured 4 new maps every few months like Call Of Duty.

That's fine for me. I know what I do and don't like. I mean, people tell me how great GTA is, but every time I've played the franchise, or watched someone play it, I find it bad. Overwatch doesn't interest me. Battleborn didn't either, but I tried it, and couldn't stand it (not comparing the two, just giving an example).

You like it, cool. Go play it. Enjoy it. Me, I'll be punching heads off in DOOM.

The struggles of finally having an abundance of quality games to play.

Division is pretty much dead to me now.
Yeah, it really sucks, but it's also about to stop. I can't tell you the next game coming out that will interest me. It might be Horizon, but I still don't have a PS4. Crackdown doesn't interest me, nor does Halo Wars. We don't have confirmation for a new Forza. Ther just isn't much coming that I care about. This, when put next to the floodgates of the previous 12-18 months, is disappointing. Before, I was getting Smash, Woolly World, Forza 6, Dying Light, Halo 5, Sunset Overdrive, Shadow of Mordor, TMCC, Quantum Break, Fallout 4, and others. Now, I'll just be playing DOOM through the summer and hoping E3 has a LOT of surprises. Not much to look forward to.

Blizzard fanboy alert! whee oooo whee oooo. Blizzard has done nothing but focus on money sucking, subscription model, F2P / pay to win, real money trading, anthology-based games for the last decade. They design their games around money transactions. Making a metric shitton of money off WoW subs wasn't good enough for them so they added transactions to that too. Blizzard doesn't resemble anything close to the high-quality, high-integrity standard that their cultists advocate for them.

The only exception is warcraft, and that isnt because it wont be done well, its because Im tired of MMO's in general. Every expansion for the last 2 or 3 I just run my main guy through it, do the raids and cancel my account
uh huh sure ya do. In one of those guilds that lets people start and quit whenever they feel like it, just complete all the raids and then cancel. lol. Easy mode "I've done all the content!" raiders are so precious. *headpat*

I just find it odd that you like DOOM but not Overwatch. Both are very fast paced twitch shooters. Not criticizing, just making a point. Both are amazing games and nailed the important part... They are fun to play

PC gaming is definitely on a resurgence this year with games like Doom and Overwatch.   The desire to build a rig with a new GTX 1080 is stronger than ever.  Have you guys been reading the articles and reports about the new graphics card? Just. Wow.  I've never had such a strong desire to go out and buy the $600 top-end graphics card until now.

We're now on the cusp of 4k gaming and movie watching on our PCs.

the rumors over new 4k PS4 and XB1 consoles are quite troubling however.  A lot of people might start migrating over to PC gaming after consoles have enjoyed their dominant four year run.

Hyper Light Drifter CE is live by the way.

I kind of assumed the $65 would include shipping, maybe I'm feeling cheap today but I don't think I want to pony up almost $75 for this.

Most console players won't migrate to PCs. They are still a fraction of the cost.

I can't wait to make another build with the 1080 but it's going to cost me about 2300$. Debating on selling my current rig 780 or using it as a media center. But then again I need a new car.

I would have been all over this CE if it included an actual physical game and not just a code. Love the retro SNES look to it.

I agree, and it's why DOOM is the very first Season Pass I ever bought. I was very impressed with the game, and was thrilled to have something to switch from Halo. In general, though, I won't touch a Season Pass. The content is just never worth it. Granted, some games seem to do it OK, it's just never the games I want to play. Simply throwing maps at a high-dollar price point isn't a good deal to me. That CoD gives you 50% more game for 85% more money isn't good to me. Mario Kart 8 did it well, 50% more game for 20% more money, in some respects (more tracks, vehicles, characters).

Really, what sold me on the DOOM Season Pass was the UAC bundle at BB, which meant getting it with a steelbook and a discount on the DLC, though. That, and I was scared of the statue quality. Once it turned out the $120 CE didn't have the DLC (which was expected, really), I figured I'd skip the statue, since recent trends on included statues have been disappointing.

I agree on some level. WoW become an overly homogenized phone game with its bases. However, they DID put in WoW Tokens to make it possible to chase off some gold farmers and get some people into the game without a real money subscription (at the real-money expense of people who can't earn gold well, of course).

Much more important is how little I enjoyed playing my character, though. I miss my Hunter's "dead zone," it made it unique. That, and as a DPS-only class, it was deflating to not be TRULY competitive in DPS in Cata and Panda, and I never even really got to raid much in Panda (and not at all in Draenor). Still, as someone who goes 100% free on Neverwinter, I will admit that playing it makes me miss WoW, where there is actual stuff like raids and fight mechanics.

Why is it odd that I don't want two redundant shooter? I never found it odd that people didn't want to get CoD AND Battlefield. I guess you mean just my interest level. Without playing Overwatch, I can't say anything about it as a game. All I can say is I have a shooter that is 85% of what I want in a shooter (much better than anything else that's been released this generation), and I don't want two shooters at the same time. DOOM will carry me into 2017, when I MIGHT try Titanfall 2 (though the first was so messy IDK that I would). If I don't, DOOM will be fun enough for me to play until Halo 6 (if 343 figures out how to make a game better than my latest bowel movement).

People won't switch. PC gaming is still too much hassle on many fronts. The #1 reason I don't game on PC is comfort. My PC and XB1 are both set up on my bedroom TV. I do browsing and chatting on my PC, but I game on my XB1 because mouse-and-keyboard play isn't pleasant from a bed. I don't want to have to clear a room, buy a desk, get a monitor, and split up my devices to make PC gaming happen.

On top of that, people on a general consumer level just can't handle PCs. They're too unpredictable and take too much work. Everything turns into hitting up the Geek Squad to get gouged on a simple repair. That, or those who try will freak out the second actual effort has to be applied. I witnessed that firsthand when my cousin got a Corsair PSU, had it die after a couple of months, and instead of sending it off for warranty, he bought another one. On top of that, after saying he wanted to go PC this generation, he just got an XB1 to go with the PS4 he got a few months back. People are too lazy, cheap, and dumb about computers to have PC gaming take off. As much as people won't like the statement, I think W10 and its Store-based app setup is the most-likely way for it to succeed.

I thought about getting DOOM on PC and XB1. I just decided I didn't want to pay the price of a console to get the GPU necessary. I'd rather get a PS4, and that's on hold while I look at getting a new car, among other things (tuition, switching insurance, etc.). That, and like I said, I don't want to invest in a PC gaming "setup." I like my lazy way of watching all my stuff on my TV in my room too much.

Ghost Recon Wildlands CE announced but haven't seen it up anywhere yet.
Weird. Does that game have a release date or any real information yet? It was incredibly vague, and seemed to overlap heavily with The Division, when I first saw it.

This. I understand the new map has to be balanced and tested out for bugs, glitches, etc., but man, more maps would be amazing. Only two more to go :/

Why hasn't best buy still updated rocket league. And has it been 100% confirm that no man's sky has been delayed. I seen kotaku and we know how trust worthy they are
