Did you get Blops from PlayAsia? If not refund that steam trash and get it from PA while it's still $6.67.

Also, is the Rez DLC playable single-player? I'm hesitant to grab it since I'm not sure I'll be able to make the event.
Yees, I got the base game from Play Asia and the dlc off Steam, but I appreciate ye mentioning it anyway. Not sure on the single player question, as I haven't even fired it up yet.

Bought Controller Companion on steam for media pc use. It's great. I can control mouse/input+ switch to gamepad with a 360 controller now. I was thinking about buying a steam controller for this but this was much cheaper.

Quick question.

A colleague of mine wants to jump into BioShock. He's never played any but he has a Mac (a shiny new one, an iMac?) and likes the look of it.

Where's the cheapest place to pick it up? I saw CDKeys had the trilogy for £10. Semi-legit places or better.

Ta!

Amazon US has them for $16 total when you buy each alone ($4, $4, $6). That's just a little more than the CD Keys price and legit.

I just noticed this.

Bioshock 2 + Bioshock Infinite both support STEAMPLAY (i.e. activate a Steam-key, no matter what you'll at least get both Windows version & Mac version)...

...but for some reason, Bioshock 1 is NOT a STEAMPLAY game.

Seriously? WTH 2K?

That might limit his choices on where to actually find Bioshock 1 if he has to really have a Mac version, since he will have to actually find a Mac version of it.

Does your friend also have maybe at least a cheap or older Windows PC laptop or desktop that could run Bioshock 1?

EDIT 2:

Bioshock 1 (Windows version) was in the first tier of a 2K HB (Steam key was $1; DRM-FREE version was 1 penny) - so you might be able to find Windows Steam-version cheap in the Cesspool, if anyone has it still lingering around?

EDIT 1:

Anybody know if it's been said if the Bioshock 1 HD Remaster will support STEAMPLAY?

B/c if the Remaster does support it - well, getting cheap Bioshock 1 old-version before-hand even on Windows would get HD Remaster for Windows + Mac.

Yes, the Rez DLC is one new Zombie map and the 4 original zombie maps from COD WAW updated for BOI. You can play all the zombie maps solo. It's a challenge, but fun. Zombies in COD are wave based. You try to survive as many rounds a possible and you upgrade weapons/repair barriers between waves.

Edit:

Also, now that we've stopped being lazy about it, you could probably just message Reds or I whenever you felt like playing some zombies and we'd hop on with you.

Just FYI, only 2 and Infinite are Steamplay, the first bioshock is not.

So while it's been tempting, I'm still not sure if I want to spend 15$+ on BLOPS + Zombies to turn it into what's essentially Killing Floor, if I already have KF2.

Bioshock 1 Steamplay stuff
That's not really the fault of 2k, outside of maybe not forcing Feral to update to support Steamplay, but when Bioshock 1 came out, Steam wasn't even out for OS X, so Steam was probably never included in porting contracts. It's possible the contracts contained support (updates/patches) durations that expired. Might be why Bio 2 got added to Steam later, but not Bio 1. But it's possible Bio 1 will still get Steamplay support, seeing as it was just last year that Bio 2 got added.

There's no reason to think a remaster wouldn't support Steamplay, every recent Feral port (assuming they'll do the remaster port, since Aspyr did Infinite) has supported it.

Y U NO GIT WEN FREE
'Cause I knew you'd have my back, dawg.

Been playing Shadow of Mordor and it seems apparent to me that they learned from their mistakes to make Mad Max a better game. It's fun and some things are definitely better (boss fights are absolutely better than MM's cut 'n paste bosses) but so many fights bog down into an ocean of orcs that it gets tiresome to play. If you can't kill a chief in the first 15-30 seconds, you may as well not bother because you'll have twenty guys join in the fight and it becomes a mess and a dull cycle of hiding, striking from stealth to get some health back, killing one other guy, running/climbing and hiding again, etc. Or, god forbid, you'll have another chief join with HIS fifteen guys. I've had three chiefs with their retinues swarming around before.

I liked MM's groups of 3-5 guys more because combat felt meaty and crunchy and you could actually enjoy beating the shit out of someone. I don't get that from SoM.

DOOM (2016) [PC version] - Single Player Campaign has been finished + is in the books, after 19 hours of frantic action.

As someone who's played tons of FPS's since the Quake + DN3D days, Doom 2016 has one of the best SP Campaigns for a FPS Of All Time; it's nothing short of incredible.

This is serious Game Of The Year 2016 Material right here.

EDIT:

My long-winded Doom 2016 - SP Campaign Review.

Yeah, it depends on how much you love zombies. Both are different enough that you can enjoy both, but if you're not a big zombie fan then one general zombie game might be enough for you. KF2 is obviously excellent, but it's a different game than COD zombies. KF2 is faster, more frantic. COD has slower paced zombies, is a bit more strategic. But in the end they are both wave-based zombie shooters. KF2 is obviously the better overall game since COD Zombies are just sort of an add on to COD. You have more content in KF2, but COD Zombies is a good time and you could sink plenty of hours in it too.

Agreed! Doom and Dark Souls 3 were the first two games that I bought when I got my new PC and I couldn't have had a better introduction to PC gaming. I figured the action in Doom would be good but what surprised me was how fun it was to explore the levels and find secrets/upgrades. Great game.

Ok, I just repurchased Blops because I'm dumb.  If there's a bro who needs it and would play with us, they can have it.  If not, I'll wind up dropping it sooner or later.

Gave it to Spoder.

Not sure if there's anything special on Direct2Drive...

20% off coupon on D2D right now for Labor Day (today) only.

Code = D2DLABOR16.

Must spend over $10.

Only 1 use of code per account.

Code doesn't work on all games.

For those needing TQ: Anniversary, it's $5 there before the coupon.

Not sure if code would work on that...or not.

If anyone finds something at a new low after coupon - point it out.

It is only right that spoder got that Blops drop above considering how often he has helped others with free stuff (myself included). But God damn is it ever creepy how he is able to sense when something is being given away somewhere on the internet.

Hm. This just reinforces the idea I need to play this. And its 50% off at Amazon....

But I probably should invest in a 1070 first....

If anyone missed out on the Pure Pool giveaway, quote this post and I'll give you a key (I have one left). Unfortunately I didn't get any extras for Pure Hold'em

EDIT: Gone

What do you have a rig?

My PC = i7 950 Bloomfield; 16 GB DDR 3 RAM; "4GB" GTX 970; W7 64.

I'm able to run Doom 2016 with Vulkan API @ Ultra at 1080p60FPS with FPS Cap on. Very rarely will it even go below 60FPS.

Uncapped, we're talking anywhere from 80-120FPS. I don't need that kind of speed nor those kinds of constant 40FPS ups + downs here.

Well it's kind of slow today anyway, but I guess this is supposed to be some special moment or whatever?...

Maybe I'll do Blops as my 2000th, and first CoD game... Someone talk me into out of it....

I'll just add my 2 cents here, not sure about KF2 but KF1 didnt have controller support, or at least it didnt work for me when I tried it, so that makes COD Zombies better for me. If you hate kb/m like I do, its probably better to get COD.

KF2 is coming out for PS4 at some point so it will definitely have controller support if it doesn't already. Reds is one of those guys that plays shooters with a controller on PC! He's pretty good at it though so I can't really say anything about it.

That's good to know about KF. I'm not big on kb/m, either. Killing Floor 2 looks really fun, though. The store page says it has full controller support.

Hmmm...

The first KF was most definitely not a controller game. KF2 is coming to PS4 (or has it yet?), so they have given thought to controller support for sure (as Fox said), but I can't help but be a little skeptical.

I use a controller also, less demanding on my carpal tunnel.

Also, Happy Birthing Day everyone!
