This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

See this POST for links to store sale pages, threads of interest and other tools to help you become a more informed PC game shopper.

This isn't true though, you can just buy the console you most want. It's not "only have a pc" or "have a pc and every console ever invented"
pasports31, don't you understand: many classic PC games won't run on Windows 10. In order to get into PC gaming, you absolutely have to get a Commodore PET, 64, Amiga, Atari ST, TRS-80, An Apple II alone will run you thousands since it's a collectors item now. And you literally can't even start playing a single game until you own all of them. That's the entry cost of PC gaming.

dammit why'd you have to point this out this is oging to ruin my enjoyment of pc gaming

I never knew how much I cared about what MysterD does with his money until you all started arguing with him about it. Can't believe I missed how important his 1-2 monthly posts about Sony releasing an exclusive to PC were. Thanks for showing me the light, fellas.

I'm more surprised that anyone gives that much of a shit about "exclusives".  Oh hey, your shooty-guy game is slightly different than my shooty-guy game!  Short of a platform basically lacking in a genre (no real baseball games for PC, consoles are largely lacking in 4X/RTS, couch co-op being a console thing, etc) who cares?  I've got too much stuff to play already without worrying about six more games on some other platform.

I would love to see more real baseball games hit the PC, since you brought that up...

There's one real baseball game left. It's a PS4 exclusive. That's not changing. Even xboners get screwed out of good baseball games. But maybe if MysterD starts a change.org petition we can get MLB The Show ported over.

As someone who has a sexy modern PC and all the consoles for the past 3 or 4 cycles (including an ass-load of games for each) I still barely play any of it.

Maybe it's like a condition, hoarding etc.

You should constantly rant about how they should make games where it's like someone is reading a book to you and then we can all be like "THOSE ARE AUDIOBOOKS AND YOU CAN LISTEN TO THEM RIGHT NOW IF YOU SIGN UP FOR AUDIBLE." and you can be all like "NO, I WANT THEM PORTED TO STEAM SO I CAN LISTEN TO THEM ON MY HI-FI STEREO BUT ENCODED AS REAL MEDIA FILES!"

Wow - This is literally my favorite thread on this site!

My 2 pennies: I’m at the point where I do not want to limit myself on what I can play. I’m glad that I kept my PS4 Pro and SUPER glad (yes SUPER glad....that’s a thing) that I purchased a PC - I feel like I have expanded my gaming territory and evolved altogether as a gamer. I have peace knowing that most, if not all, the games I purchase on PC are future proof from the backwards compatibility nightmare and I don’t have to buy a new console to get the latest multi-plat titles.

I also find joy knowing that owning a PC makes me personally more of a CAG because I can wait years before I purchase the latest console for one to two hundred dollars cheaper if there are a great line of exclusives that I would want to play. Quite frankly, I will purchase an Xbox One X when it becomes cheaper so that I can have access to play there exclusive 4K bc games like RDR, Ninja Gaiden Black, etc...that’s IF they are not ported to PC first. I just played some metroid prime 2 on my Wii u today that I bought for $150 a few months ago. Great game, not as good as 1 but still pretty darn good. You should try it sometime mysterd you would like it.

I'm not dropping $150 on a Wii U for one title.

EDIT:

Also, they should come with a physical copy on cassette.
But what about 8-track?

Sorry to interrupt, can you tell me where the Steam deals thread went? It appears this old Steam thread is now being used for the CAG Special Olympics.
Even with console gaming and PC port chit-chat, we're still not talking about actual Steam Deals b/c there are no real deals to be had. Even if we ain't talking about off-topic about shoes, pizza, burgers, and other stuff - yep, that would also be still off-topic.

I mean, we could talk about Shadow of War was $35 on Amazon recently - but that really isn't much of a deal and it's now dead.

The Razer Deal for Rockstar Games & 2K Games don't seem that hot either.

Where's Amazon-Tony when we really need him?

What we talking about, I missed a few days?

Man that God of War game has a 95 on Metacritic...can't wait to play it on my PS4 Pro...

I never put faith into the ridiculous pipe dreams MysterD shares with us. The most surprising thing is that you pretentious nerds are arguing with him so much about it, knowing that he's been like this for fucking years. Pretty sure he still adds bundled games to his cesspool want list instead of buying the bundles they're in. Doesn't matter how many of you gang up on him or how often you reiterate it. He's the one missing out.

I'm 50/50 with console and PC, I alternate a lot, but with my console of choice being Xbox One. I've had too much money and time invested in its ecosystem since day 1 of the Xbox 360 days, and that's where nearly all of my friends are, both online and off (or at least the ones I'd want to game with anyway). I have one PC gamer friend and he has his head so far up his HTC Vive ass that I'd never consider playing an online game with him anyway.

I owned a PS3 for a short while. I played through God of War 1-3 and Uncharted 1-3. I enjoyed them, but not enough to invest in a PS4 to play the new ones. Maybe in a few years the games I'm missing out on will make it to PS Now and I'll subscribe for a month and knock out the exclusives I missed.

Otherwise, most of the "exclusives" I have interest in are more like "don't let Xbox get their dirty hands on it" and they make their way to PC anyway (Rez Infinite, that was nearly a PS4 system seller for me at launch).

As far as couch co-op, would a Steam Link not suffice? I got one during that last sale bundled with Hollow Knight and it works surprisingly well. I'm sure there's also some way to rig up a fake Wiimote situation and stream Dolphin through Steam Link also.

Well, I was referring more to the whole "Exclusives!" thing in general. Unless your platform is just devoid of games in your preferred genre, I don't know why this would make a big difference. Chasing games across PC/Xbox/PS/Nintendo sounds exhausting. Who has time to play three to five platforms worth of games? Don't you people have jobs?

Plus, there's usually something close enough on your platform anyway (unless, again, your platform is a wasteland for your genre in which case you chose poorly). As an example, I watched my kid play much of Last of Us on his old PS3. It was... okay? I mean, it's another linear third person shooter with a story that's only exceptional by the incredibly low bar of video game plots. If your platform doesn't have Last of Us, go play some other third person stealth/shooter -- trust me, you won't be missing much. Certainly not enough to warrant buying a new platform.

It's more an issue of most PC games not having a local co-op mode rather than any hardware limitations. If your goal is to bring the family around the television with video game fun, buy a Nintendo.

Eh, there's some exclusives that are definitely worth it and some bootleg PC version just isn't going to cut it.  Sorry turtle boy.  Deadfall Adventures just isn't going to give you the same fix as Uncharted proper.  I agree thought that the gap is narrowing by a fair margin, especially with the latest gen.  You could say that as a survival horror fan you HAD to have a PS2 because PC just wouldn't cut it and you were missing too much.  I'd probably venture that the same can be said for platformers or maybe shooters on PS3.  Now if you just look at PS4 and XB1 vs. PC nowadays, I do agree, you're missing out on very little which is why I have yet to go "next gen."  I did get a switch recently because of the portability of it all and because well Nintendo.  Mario ain't coming to PC.  Does this mean MysterD has never played Nintendo first party games?  No wonder he's such a sad little man.

Emulators :shame:
Emulators work for some games (probably all of the older ones I'm sure), but some of the newer stuff only works for certain games and has trouble running some of the other games. If anything really interests you it's best to just buy the console and play it when its still current and then sell it later. The more of a backlog of consoles you have a list of that you've never owned the more money it's going to cost you, especially if you are waiting for them to port over decade old games for PC.

With these sales on MGS V, I'm expecting a sale on the Steam store tomorrow/soon. It looks like the valuation of the game is starting to really drop now. The Steam store option might be preferable if you want to retain a refund option and/or have lots of Gabe Bux to spend. Maybe it will appear in a Monthly? But less than 5 bucks is a pretty safe buy regardless.

Yeah, that was one of my first thoughts. FWIW, I don't think Konami has ever taken part in a bundle previously so I wouldn't count on that. I ended up taking the Humble deal since the last time they had it sub-$10 a year ago, it lasted less than a day before they ran out of keys and the price jumped back up.
