Is Golf Story worth buying? I'm not really into golf but I did enjoy Mario Golf on Game Boy Advance.
I feel like I'm in your boat, not a golfer IRL but always been a casual fan of simpler, more arcade-y golf games (Neo Turf Masters, Hot Shots, and of course Mario Golf) and Golf Story feels like a natural extension of those games. The actual gameplay is perfect, there are mini games and upgrades around the world map, and I thought the dialogue was just the right amount of tongue-in-cheek. Universally praised by critics too, so if you liked Mario Golf and want something similar for your Switch, yeah, should be a no-brainer.

Is Cosmic Star Heroine worth it? The game, not the stuff my neighbor's selling.
:)
I kicked, so I got it on release for PS4. Played about halfway and it was fine for what it was. Tried to report a major bug, and was told he didn’t want PS4 bugs reported yet because he had a “major” update already in the works for that version. I think my system updated the game, but I never went back to it.

About New Super Mario Bros U coming out this week, how long to beat shows about 15 hours for both games included. Is there any replay value from the Wii u games? I am trying to go all digital here but I don't want to spend $60 on something I can get for $45 and then trade in a month later.

It's multiplayer so you can always play through the game with friends. I believe I beat both Mario and Luigi once each by myself, and beat Mario once with friends over the course of multiple beer drinking nights. Its similar to any other 2d Mario game, and the Luigi levels are a lot of fun trying to beat them quickly! It's not worth full price in my opinion having come out in 2012 but it is a fun game!

It is an arcadey golf game similar to mario golf, only difference is that you won't get to pick from different characters. Also, this game...as you can probably infer, has a story, so it can also be considered an rpg. I actually bought this game due to how every reviewer said it had magnificent writing, but honestly it isn't as good as they pointed out to be. Don't get me wrong, it has good writing but I believe other games like Disgaea or the Mario & Luigi series(1st one) have way better writing in my opinion. Overall it is a great game which also happens to be an exclusive for the switch. You won't go wrong with it.

Anyone play 80's Overdrive (3DS)? I've watched a few videos on it and other than the digital steering it seems like an ideal game in the genre. I already have 3D Out Run... just curious if this is worth it as it's the last day of the sale.
Garbage ass game, and if you already have 3D Outrun, don't waste the funds, as it's not fit to wipe sweat from Outrun's balls. LOL Why it was delayed so long, only to be a turd makes me wonder what some of these developers think in the short term, as well as the long.

Besides the main game, there is a good sized challenge mode that actually gets really difficult. I never did beat the last challenge. I’m assuming that’s in the version too.

Personally, I think there’s a lot of content here. And a platformer can only last so long before it overstays it’s welcome. But if you are really worried about replay value I would say go physical. There’s no backsies with digital.

If you do decide to go digital, pre-purchase it today or tomorrow before 9pm PST so you get the bonus coins. Gering $6 back might help take the sting out of the price a little bit lol

Thank you sr_388 and chrono31. I think I'll go physical on this one or wait for a 30% off digital sale within 9 months (as was the case with DKCTF and others).

I just wanted to pop in and say Nintendo CS are stars. I bought a couple of prepaid eShop cards from Bestbuy.com back in November 2016 from Best Buy, but because I had extra credit already, never needed to add them to my account. Was going to finally use them to take advantage of one of the New Year's sales today before they expired, only to find out that they weren't working. I contacted support, and they were able to determine the retailer had never activated them, and told me to contact Best Buy support to see if they could sort it out, or failing that, to get a receipt so Nintendo CS could confirm I'd made the purchase.

Turns out Best Buy only keeps records up to 18 months old, so I was completely out of luck there, but when I contacted Nintendo CS again, I asked if I could use my order confirmation emails from Best Buy, and they told me to send them and their team would make a final decision. Less than an hour later, I got the full amount credited directly to my account.

So yeah, good on Ninty, fuck Best Buy (not for CS not being able to do anything, that's understandable, but for not doing what they were supposed to when I bought the cards).

Nintendo is in another world way beyond Sony with their support. To clarify I have had such an easier, quicker, more pleasant experience with Nintendo compared to Sony. I had a similar issue with some psn $20 cards. The short story is that they were not activated and I was out of luck because I didn't retain the original receipt from months ago for a proof purchase. The purchase history and a picture of the receipt( I sometimes will take a picture of a receipt to do the survey at a later date) wasn't eligible proof lol.

I was very tempted to get Rabbids Gold edition for $26 but I just can't justify having that game forever digitally. A purchase for that amount of money needs to be a game I will always want to have on there like Mario Kart or something. I have the regular edition on cart I bought when it was on sale but haven't opened it yet.  I am hoping the Gold edition physical edition comes down in price over the next year or so and I will purchase it then.

The appeal is that the DLC is $20, which will probably never go on sale. So you get the base game for like $6 if you take that into account. Plus, I like having a non-indie game available digitally on my switch if I'm away from my games. That is why I went for it even though I haven't started it yet with my physical copy.

I sold my physical copy and got the Gold digital (Mario + Rabbids) for 2 reasons really.

1, the DLC... it will never go on sale, so the bundle was a great deal.

2, I bought the physical cart on a whim at a discount and thought i'd play a few hours of it. Happy to say I was 100% wrong.

I have played 40+ hours in the game maybe, have not beaten it either.. Did not know how much i was going to enjoy this game until I popped it in and played 2-3 hours in one sitting, without realizing it.

https://howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=46464

according to hltb it's anywhere from 21-60 hours depending how you play. (not including DLC, or replaying levels due to a bad tactic etc) i'm more of the completionist with this game, which is rare for me. Normally will play a game until i'm bored with it, regardless of completion percentage. This game is in my "I want it all done" category..

I was not aware that the Gold Edition was released physically ...

Looks like the gold edition is a UK version? Amazon link shows the PEGI logo on the box, actually every online photo of a physical copy I see of the Gold version shows PEGI on it.

*******

Not sure if anyone knows of this site...

I found it while searching for the Mario + Rabbids physical Gold.

Another Switch price tracker, both physical and digital tracking!

Edit: Hardware and eShop card discounts as well.. nice

Sorry for asking what I'm sure is a redundant question, but when do digital pre-orders usually unlock? NSMBU Deluxe is the first Switch game I've pre-ordered from the eshop and I'm just wondering when I'll be able to fire it up.

Typically first party Nintendo games are midnight EST. Smash worked for me a few minutes past on release day.

I got the season pass for Mario+Rabbids for $10 on eBay. Unfortunately the sellers raised the price to $15, but I'd keep an eye on the listings over there if you just want the dlc.

The US physical release was carried by Costco of all places. It was on sale during the holidays but is now listed at retail.

Newegg has $60 eShop for $50. Just add the $50 to your cart and then $10 will be added with a $10 discount. Limit 2. Expect to wait a few hours to get the codes.

For comparison this is 16.67% off, which is better than the PayPal deals of 10-15% off.

I decided to wait because I haven't played through donkey Kong country tropical freeze thay I bought on Black Friday. Delaying the purchase while I work on my backlog

Lol okay smart guy playing his backlog. Kidding. I also got donkey Kong and I don’t like it. It probably feels how it should but to me it’s slow and cumbersome to attack or get through levels. Probably doing a redo with it.

I agree. It is clunky, but the level themes are great. Going to go through it as it's not a very long game

Tempted to get Super Mario U Deluxe today since I never owned a Wii U. Anyone else getting it?
Hell yes! It was one of my favorite Wii U games. UPS can't come soon enough. I never played the Luigi version, so I'm pretty excited for that. It took me 24 hours to 100% the Mario version according to my Wii U stats, so there's a good amount of value to me at least.

I pre-ordered it a couple of weeks ago because I had some e-shop credit that I figured I could use since there aren't many other games on my radar until Yoshi in March. The bonus 300 Gold coins for pre-ordering also influenced me lol

WOW, I thought it was just me when thinking the controls where off a bit. But as stated, the levels are great as is the game, but due to the controls, I never played the Wii U version past the first area. Maybe if my son ever gets it for his NS, I'll give it another go, or I could return to the Wii U version as well.

Did you play co-op? Looking to see if this is something my wife and I can play together that involves the second player more than Odyssey. Right now we really just have Mario Kart.

I did the same, i had credit i got at 20% off and the $6 back (600 coins) made me just go digital.

And then bought a 512gb sd card that i installed yesterday.... copy route didnt work this time so just said screw it and downloaded everything again. (Glad i dont have a data cap lol)

I never really looked at the 3DS "remasters" of the MArio + Luigi games before today, so I had never noticed how improved the graphics look on 3DS. Kinda makes me want to get Bowser's Inside Story now lol.

I'm with you all, as well. I am a big, big DKC fan from SNES days, so when I finally had a Nintendo system again and there was a new (re-release) game I was very hyped. But I was also very let down. The controls are clunky as you said, but I also didn't like how the "side-kick" characters were used and the boss battles were overly complex. I can do them, but I just find them to be...annoying, and way too long.

I got through most of it, but won't be revisiting it. I revisit DKC1-3 usually annually, and it appears I'll be sticking to just those 3.
