Is this supposed to make me want to pay $800 for a graphics card?

Nope. Just wait for your next GPU upgrade.

You know, when RTX cards will get older, cheaper, and/or perform better.

EDIT:

When are you due for a GPU upgrade and/or new PC?

A 6th project would have been nice.
I managed to get all the days so far but my brother's account got locked and he missed day 1.
Somehow I managed to get none of the days so far.

Probably because I was off at a convention and not at home hanging out with you degenerates.

This weekend I tried the raid in Division 2...  I really had no plans to do so but one of my Div buddies was looking for people to try it, sadly we didn't have enough people online we know to try it, so he bounced around safe house after safe house inviting people for it while I ran a mission to help complete a project...  Truth be told.  I didn't think he would find enough people to try it but sadly he did.

It went about as well as you would expect...  The raid starts out neat enough.  Just a very big area with a few planes and a lot of bad guys to kill...  Then you move to the next area and have a boss fight. You certainly have raid mechanics now, and certainly need to communicate, but all I could think of was how stupid the mechanics were and how old Tommy must be rolling over in his grave at them.  Nothing really makes sense, its all just there to be hurdles and hopes for you to overcome and jump throw.  It feels so gaming its not even good.  Falcon's Lost, though horribly boring and with poorly implemented mechanics, had better more real worldish mechanics.

Anyhow, luckily I had to go after a few wipes...  And I'm not at all looking forward to trying it again nor looking forward to new raids...  (Granted, I've always just wanted more story missions in DLC so I'm not likely the target audience anyways.)

In the interest of thoroughness and clarity, the other half is certain to back you up.
Fair enough.

I can only assume that means if you eat all of it, you will have a well-balanced, colon-pleasing diet, and not look like Cartman at the end of that World of Warcraft South Park episode.

So you're saying that diet will improve the looks of the average CAG?

I just bought one in January so not for several years. Although I went with the budget 580 for $180 so I'm not averse to upgrading my GPU depending on how things shake up a year or so from now with AMD and Nvidia competing. That said, I'd still never pay more than $350ish or so for a GPU.

Nice @ $180 for a 580.

I have a GTX 1060 6gb in my laptop (with Thunderbolt 3 support) and GTX 970 on my desktop, so I think it'll be a while also before I do GPU upgrade and/or new desktop entirely.

That's a lot better than the offer before, but I can never really get into COD multiplayer and there's no singleplayer campaign this time either. How's the player count on PC now? That's been an issue in the series on PC for quite some time.

Does anybody know anything about these zombie modes? The more I read about them, the more confused I become. Are they actual stories, or just Left4Dead scenarios? You can play with bots or no?

I don't know about bots, but you can play solo. It's more Left4Dead scenarios. You get dropped into the level and you can unlock different areas by progressing and surviving waves. It's pretty fun. COD has always had some of the best Zombie modes out there. You unlock better guns as you go along. It gets difficult and it's easier in a group to progress to the higher waves. I think it's endless until you die. Or at least that's the mode I've played. Don't know if there's an objective mode with a set ending.

I never go for CEs for games unless I get them dirt cheap for some reason - the junk that comes with them is never worth the asking price.  But I am still almost tempted by the Death Stranding one just because of how freaking weird it is.  It comes with one of those pod baby things.  I mean not tempted enough to actually bite but at least this one got my attention.  Still no idea WTF the game is going to be outside of part walking simulator and part high quality cutscene, but I look forward to it anyway.

If you care about ad-blocking and use Chrome you might want to switch in the near future.

So, checklist:

  • No gameplay footage
  • Literally all the stuff in the trailer is cutscene footage, probably from the PS3 version (which had higher quality videos than the original PC port)
  • Epic Store exclusive
Yeah, not touching this game for a long, long time.

They're typically great while they work. So if you're willing to risk it breaking after a year or so, go for it.
So you've had bad experiences with ASUS ROG computers? Or do they have a bad reputation of which I'm unaware? I'd rather not spend that money on something that won't last for at least a few years--I'll say three is my minimum.

I haven't quite figured out yet why people are so excited about this. The original game was okay at first, but it got repetitious and annoying in later levels, so I never bothered to finish it.

I have ASUS practically everything (motherboard, monitors), but the ROG laptops have a pretty high failure rate. I don't know anyone irl who has one last more than 2ish years. We had some at work that we wanted for the portable GPUs, and they weren't used that often. And those didn't last 2 years.

Hm. That doesn't sound too good. What about Acer Predator or Razer Blade 15 systems?

I don't know anything about those, nor even used one, so I have no idea.

The ROGs are nice when they work. But ultimately, they're still laptops.

Do you have to get a laptop, or is it just cause it's pre-configured?
