Pinball FX3 will be releasing Williams Volume 4 on May 28th (tomorrow!). It will contain tables: Red & Ted's Roadshow, White Water, and Hurricane. I own a lot of these tables on the PS4 so rebuying them at full price isn't all that worthwhile to me, but I know I would insta-buy them on Switch if a pack goes on sale :razz:

I did grab the Williams volume 3 pack when it was 40% of last week on PSN, and it definitively would be nice if buying it on one platform gave you access on the rest.

As for the flipgrip, that's what i currently use. It's no frills, but does the job, and the joycons click in nicely

I've enjoyed what I've played of Akane. I would also recommend Mana Spark.
I'm interested in Blazing Beaks but not sure if I should bite as their games go on sale a lot.

 
Almost every single pack for Pinball FX3 on Steam is on sale, except for the Williams Vol 4 pack that came out today. Only mentioning this for the folks up above hungry for pinball. Finally got around to playing Dead Cells after buying last black Friday ($20 eShop at the time). Great game so far! It brings back fond memories of Ninja Gaiden on NES for some reason, though the game is quite different.

Yeah, you have to judge it based on what you hope to get out of it. I never play story / MyCareer-type modes, only franchise/MyGM, so it's good enough for me (and less than half the price of Football Manager 2019).

Skypeace is a good endless runner game for the price.  It has an interesting twist - the stage scrolls from left to right, and you move your character to collect coins and avoid obstacles.  It reminds me a lot of Jetpack Joyride.  At 49 cents, I bought it on both of my 3DS accounts.  

 
$0.99 for Mecho Wars is what I’ve been waiting for. This has very similar mechanics to Advance Wars but with a different aesthetic.

Mecho Wars is garbage shovelware that is a side scrolling platform. Do not buy that trash.

All their games are questionable except this one. Mecho Wars is pretty much the closest game I've found to Advance Wars in terms of gameplay. It only lacks the traditional military theme.

Pretty sure that's Mecho Tales you're talking about. I'll throw in Plague Road as a stinker for the company too. Anytime a game puts me to sleep when I wasn't sleepy to start is a pretty bad thing. I may get Mecho Wars as it looks pretty solid. I already have Wargroove though.

Me too! I don’t think anyone knew. Just another instance of Nicalis being Nicalis. I was actually surprised that it was only $20, and was excited to get. I just wanted to wait for reviews. But after this bait and switch of sorts, I feel burned, and will be waiting for a sale. If it had been advertised, or if the price had always been $30, I’d have probably bought it.
 
Can’t go wrong with any Devolver digital games. Highly recommend Ape out, Gris, and Enter the gungeon. But really I don’t think I’ve ever found a recent Devolver game to be bad and not worth the money.
 
The discounts aren't amazing but does look like some solid games. I'm thinking of Gris and Katana Zero myself. Steamworld Quest is excellent. I am on the final chapter I think and the game has been great. I've been playing it on hard and some fights were really hard. Recommended for the excellent battle system and nice graphics. The story is OK but one of the weakest links.

All their games are questionable except this one. Mecho Wars is pretty much the closest game I've found to Advance Wars in terms of gameplay. It only lacks the traditional military theme.

Katana Zero is a great game. Amazing soundtrack, crazy but cool story. I grew up really liking the movie The Professional and it loosely reminded me of that movie, so I am a bit biased.

 
Wow y’all weren’t kidding about the Devolver sale. I was worried it would be 15% off across the board (since I have that deal most of the time being an owner of some of their games), but I am really liking these prices! I’ll probably buy Pikuniku and NOT A HERO even though I have them both on PC (both for free), because I generally hate playing games on a PC. I’ll also grab GRIS, Gato Roboto, and probably also Katana ZERO (toss-up with that, might wait longer for a deeper discount).

Went looking at the new sales... and War Theater is on sale for $0.99 as well. It's the same dev as Mecho Wars. I went ahead and used gold coins to buy both games... but the reviews I watched of War Theater show it's pretty much the same core Advance Wars style gameplay. Not sure if I'll get to it soon, I'm deep into Skyrim for the first time so it's kind of eating all of my game time. If I play it some while it's still on sale, I'll report back if it's really worth it.

Yeah that's a good option to. It's $20 versus $1... but it's still worthy even though it too uses a completely different aesthetic. Looking back the original Mecho Wars was released on iOS back in June 2009. So about a year and a half after AW Days of Ruin. MW got a re-release update later on which eventually evolved into the console versions... but for a long time this was about as close to the AW formula as had been used. It looks like War Theater takes things a step further with even more similar troops and tanks.

Of course none of this, not even Into The Breach, is a great replacement for the original AW games. I tend not to enjoy most TBS games except those that lean heavy into the AW formula... so the pickings are a bit slim. I don't even care for Fire Emblem because I wan't to think strategically like chess without worrying as much about individual troops.

 
Devolver sale is pretty good with Ape Out and Katana Zero having discounts this early is great. I might pick those up along with Downwell tomorrow.

For me, Into the Breach is the gold standard when it comes to games in that vein and I own all the advanced wars games. I have more hours logged on ItB then any other game on my Switch. As simple as the game may look, it is very difficult. You really got to think out every single move before making it. I love how simple and yet deep and complex that game is.

I don't really consider Into the Breach an Advance Wars clone in any stretch. It's a chess game with mechs and other huge military machines taking on Kaiju that is incredibly well-designed in terms of mechanics, UI design, and replayability that comes from their work on FTL.
