With Mario kart’s popularity, I wonder if there will be some kind of physical copy of the DLC on shelves. The little cardboard card I’m sure but maybe they’ll put a hot wheels car with it or something.

Everyone else here talking about new games and new DLC content and I'm just sitting here excited to Chrono Cross get some love. I was hoping the rumors of a remake were true but knew it wasn't unlikely.
I'm excited to see what the remastered OST will be like, still my favorite after all these years.

Oh yeah, the music was easily the best part of that amazing game. I didn't even see that it includes the Radical Dreamers text game... I knew about it (and even think someone ported/translated it to English back in the day) but never played it so excited to see what that's about.

Also, it looks like it'll be multiplatform and not just NS exclusive, even better!

What a great direct for RPG fans. I kinda wish Xenoblade 3 was more "Shounen" like 2 was, but it looks like it's closer to 1.

Also still holding out hope for that Xenoblade Chronicles X port. Maybe after Xenoblade 3 they can get to work on cranking out a quick port. It's basically the last good game that's still trapped on the Wii U

I played the fan translation (I think it was done by the brother of an EGM/1UP writer if I remember correctly). Neat bonus that I wasn't expecting.

Yeah, they really need to bring Xenoblade X, as well as Zelda Twilight Princess HD (and maybe Wind Waker HD), to Switch.

Pretty lackluster in my opinion. Only thing new they showed I'm excited for is the Mario Kart DLC and Live A Live. Stuff like the Klonoa remasters and Chrono Cross I'll play on PS5.

Square Enix stealth announced a Japanese FMV mystery adventure game called The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story for Switch:

Out 5/12. Has some talent behind MGSV, PT, 428, and Nier Automata leading on this game.

This is how I pretty much expect all presentations to go these days... mostly meh details on up coming releases, 1 new game revealed, new DLC content, some old games being released on the console.

I like that they're being realistic apparently to the pricing of Star Wars Force Unleashed - the eShop listing page says $19.99.

Excited for FE Warriors 3H, Kirby (surprisingly!), Force Unleashed (my hubby loves Star Wars), Mario Kart tracks, and XBC3. Also very surprised at Live A Live, which I'll likely pick up as well.

Looking closer at the MK DLC named “booster course pass” makes me think we will see a “booster character pass” as well. 😬

Finally got to catch up a bit on the news after work. Klonoa looks amazing, also happy that's getting another release on mondern consoles and visually looks amazing. This is what I wish more PS1/N64 games did but I'm guessing a lot of why they can't do stuff like this is due to so many games using backdrops (esp JRPGs) which have to be redrawn. I'm glad Chrono Cross is coming back in a more modern format but just like FFVIII remaster, the already bad backgrounds on HD screens will look much worse compared to the upscaled polygonal assets.

I'm excited for XC 3, especially since XC 2 and (especially) XC Torna were so great, but... kinda curious as to where they're going with the flutes everywhere. Wonder if it'll be like the Power Rangers when the Green Ranger calls the Dragonzord.:p

Earthbound coming to NS is also good news but for fucks sake Nintendo, bring Mother 3 to NA already.

Kirby looking a lot like Mario Odyssey...

I'd be ok with that, since Mario Kart Tour has so many cool characters they could import (to say nothing of the outfits/recolors of existing racers that would be awesome to have in 8). I'm a little bummed that we won't be getting 9 for the foreseeable future, but new content for 8 at a reasonable price is fine, too.

I was living for this Direct! Live A Live! Chrono Cross! Splatoon 3! Front Mission! Advance Wars release date! Kirby! No Man's Sky on Switch! New Mario Kart courses! Earthbound! XENOBLADE 3!!!!!! Nintendo will be taking all of my money this year :bouncy:

This is my favorite one from that game:

I used to fall asleep to this. Would leave my PSX on the world map. I haven't played the game since a year after it was released, so I hope it still has some magic. I remember thinking damn half of these characters are worthless (story and character development wise). I don't remember much though.

Frankly I'm kind of not as much in love with RPGs anymore though they used to be my favorite genre. I just get bored more easily now. Still excited enough for that remaster and Live and Live, which I got bored of playing the fan translation (seemed like a Saga Frontier-ish game). The Mario Strikers game looks fun and my favorite footage was the Kirby stuff. That game just looks fun and glad it's coming out next month.

Frankly I just feel my likes just changing over time. I remember liking Stella Glow a lot and I got bored quickly playing both Disgaea 4 and 5. It's just an oversaturation I guess playing these games since the 90s or so. Same for anime and books and such. I've just read a lot and seen a lot over the years, and it just takes a lot to wow me anymore. Sorry about the rant, but otherwise the direct was solid and had a good variety of things.

For what it's worth, I haven't played through a Disgaea game since the (in my opinion) rather exceptional one that was Disgaea 3. I sometimes feel the same way though, I think, though I've still been enjoying Pokemon Arceus lately. Arceus doesn't top a game like Zelda: Breath of the Wild or Xenoblade X in quality, but it has that highly addictive Pokemon licensing, and I consider it good for a Pokemon game and it brings back fond memories for me whenever I compare and contrast it to the Gameboy Pokemon games and how things have changed and also stayed the same.

But sometimes, I just can't do it, too though. I never completed Monster Hunter Stories 2, for example, despite acknowledging its quality. And the days when I spend 10+ hours grinding are a bit, well, almost done for me. Fortunately, some of the newer games, not all, that are not focused on old-school, may have more forgiving game design, however.

I can definitely relate to genre fatigue.it doesn't help that rpgs are longer by genre standard. Pokemon Arceus is fun but I caught myself falling into the fetch quest crap in it. I could easily see it eating up hundreds of hours if you waste time trying to fill Pokedex entries.

I doubt it (why would they not announce that simultaneously?). They'd make far less selling them separately (more people will buy the course pass and call it a day than also buy the character pack) than together. New characters will probably be saved for MK9, especially if they intend to go heavier on crossover characters. I think the Course label is just to let people know specifically what they're getting.

XC2 and Torna being among my favorite games... I'm still a bit shocked from XC3 being announced with a September release date.   That's a day 1 purchase for me.    No Man Sky, I'll be grabbing that as well as I've wanted to play it but just not enough to hook up the ps4.  Some other great stuff mixed in.  This was an amazing Nintendo Direct.   All the old Mario Kart courses they are bringing over... normally I wouldn't buy DLC, but that's going to be a huge bonus to playing MK8.  So I'll likely have to get that for the family.

At this point if they did release the game, it would probably be a digital copy. If someone really wanted to play the game, a fan translation exists and is easily accessible. Heck there are custom ROM carts that can be bought to play on the GBA or DS/3DS if you want a physical copy. Why people are so hung up on Nintendo doing an official release when it could already be played with other methods.

Warriors games are lazy cash grabs. Gross.
Hyrule Warrios Age of Calamity was a great experience... and felt more like a Zelda game than a typical Warriors game as it served as a prequel to BotW. I'd imagine with the new FE Warriors game being tied heavily to Three Houses, it'll actually turn out to be quite excellent too. If I were into FE, I wouldn't overlook it just because the first FE Warriors was more of a middling experience.

i imagine that if i dont like dynasty warriors, i won't like these types of games though?

theres a demo for age of calamity just try it

you should be able to tell right away whether its for you or not

I never cared for Dynasty Warriors either... Hyrule Warriors Age Of Calamity was so good it made me check out other Musou/Warriors games. In the end I love the Hyrule Warriors series (especially AoC) and the Dragon Quest Heroes series. The rest of it, not interest at all. As noted by toska, there is a demo of Age of Calamity... so give that a try if you are a big fan of Breath of the Wild. if you aren't a fan of BotW then skip it.

I played the fan translation back around when it was originally released, but I just like having an official copy. Same thing with Seiken Densetsu 3 and picked that up once Trials of Mana was released in the collection.

I spent like 5-10 hours trying to catch that large buizel and still haven't, and I haven't played since I last put it down over a week ago. I'm like super overleveled now because of the damn thing.

Wondering how well NMS will play on Switch...

Nowadays since they've branch with using licenses, it'll fall on if you like the franchise they are adapting, and how well they've adapted certain elements that they are known for. The first Fire Emblem Warriors was alright, just a typical Musou title. The way they've handled permadeath is bull and is more of a hassle than anything. Makes me wonder if they will keep the team/character swapping they've had in every Nintendo Warriors titles since Hyrule Warriors Legends in Three Hopes; seems empty without it, especially in a more tactical title like Fire Emblem. (Orochi has character swapping too, but their execution on that is different.)

That’s cool they announced XC3 for this September. Now I just need to go back and finish XC2, then Torna, then play XC1 remastered. Just wish XC2 did a better job explaining the full combat system. Every time I try to pick it up again I have to watch a 20min YouTube video explaining combos, elements, and topples.

I just bought cluster truck an hour and a half ago. I had to force myself to put it down and go to bed. I think I made a terrible mistake..

Curious - Is there any type of end game or progression to this, or does it just get more challenging with every level? I've dipped my toes into the game on Xbox just long enough to earn some rewards, but that's it.

It's got a campaign that has a number of worlds, and each world has 10 levels. I'm currently stuck on level 2-2, but there is an end point. There's also separate holiday themed levels.

Was I the only one who thought Three Houses was a huge letdown? I'm not sure I've ever disliked a FE game more so a warriors game based on it is massively meh for me.

3 houses was probably weakest strategy FE to date, but the most waifu sim one. so i guess depends on what looking for. I'll agree it didn't catch as much but I'm probably more interested in warriors because of that.

Agreed, not a fan of the romance sim aspects of that last Fire emblem, hoping they go back to the basics for the next one ala Fire Emblem Awakening. Skipped through the video once I saw the new game was a Warriors game let alone based on 3 Houses storyline.

I felt the same. Especially with how they set up the routes. Idiotic putting which of 3 groups you choose before the effing route split even happened. Red and silver routes are the only ones that you can from the same save.

Majority of the characters have no strong reason to be in one route or another usually. There are cases where they are not able to go to certain routes but that mainly applies to the bible thumpers from the church not going to the red route.

But it's especially wrong that certain characters like Petra aren't exclusive to a route. There's no explanation of how she can join the other routes and they protect her country. Her island nation is smack dab in enemy territory for starters. I just felt like they didn't think the games routes through at all.

It was funny how you couldn't recruit Dedue or Hubert when playing on different routes since they were Dmitri and Edelgard's right hand men, but Hilda was fair game as long as it wasn't the Crimson Flower route, even though she was Claude's right hand woman. Waifus always get the special treatment

Edit: Originally you were also supposed to be able to recruit Hilda on the Crimson Flower route since they data mined a Byleth/Hilda Crimson Flower S rank scene. But I guess they scrapped it since they didn't think Hilda would be down with killing Claude

To me FE:3H was around the same level as Fates, so not very good in comparison to the titles I really like (Echoes, Awakening).  There's some high production values and a good soundtrack, but in the end the plot and characters just seemed empty.  Not much interest in a warriors spinoff.
