Viewtiful Joe or SSBM

CAGiversary!
I try not to make these topics, but having not played these games before, I'm up in the air. I'm looking at picking up a game to get me until Christmas. I don't get to play very much anymore (5-6 hours a week), and I'm in the middle of replaying Kotor, so it doesn't have to be a super long game (as long as it lasts 15 or so hour at least).

I'm currently debating between Viewtiful Joe, SSBM, and Sonic Adventure 2 (I saw the listing for the Sonic Adv 2+Sonic Adv 1, but I already have Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast).

Now, I will likely play any game solo. There is a chance with SSBM that my fiance will play some, but figure any selection will be mainly a single player game.

Thanks

ehh its a toss up, Joe might get tedious for lesser players, and Smash has a lot to do in it but it can get repetitive. Its a toss up, but SSBM has a greater replay value in my opinion.

if you want to pull your hair out and get really pissed, get JOE.

if you want to play some fun multiplayer with friends, get SSBM

Viewtiful Joe is definately a fun single player game. It can be a challenge, but something you can beat with time. An interesting game I would say, when I first saw it in a Newtype I was like reluctant, but now it was worth my money. Anyways you could unlock Dante too ^_^.

SSBM more multiplayer fun + single player fun.
To me it seems to be more worth it to get SSBM and then after you beat everything could go for Viewtiful Joe and by then VJ should be at a cheap price and after beating that VJ2 would have been out for a whiles (only if you liked the first).

Im assuming he is talking about the Gamecube Viewtiful Joe since he also asked for SSBM and SA2 so in that case he couldn't unlock Dante.

SSBM is just about infinitely replayable (well, almost) and the single player gives you TONS to do. If you wanna get something you can play with friends, SSBM all the way. As great as Joe is, I'd even pick up SSBM over it for single player.

Wow. I would say get both. I have both, and they are excellent. However, if you only have the money for one right now, I suggest SSBM. It is one of my favorite games ever.

Well I'd skip SSMB if your going to play solo, the reason the game is so great is because of the multiplayer. I just finshed another 2 hours session, soon we will find a 4th player and the game will get even better!

Super Smash Bros. Melee is a must have the for the Cube. Viewtiful Joe is a good game too, but I think Melee is way better.

But if you don't play your cube with anyone else then it becomes a closer battle. Multiplayer rules on Melee.

Another vote for Viewtiful Joe, since you explicitly state single player.

Though SSBM was still a decent single player purchase (lots to unlock) one thing it has against it is that the last 30% of unlockables NEEDS you to play multiplayer fights (you could do it by yourself, 1 v 3 CPU, but it sucks). That killed the game for me since I didn't have any friends willing to play it. It's more fun with other humans, obviously. It's still worth getting as a SP purchase, I enjoyed it a lot until I hit that wall.

Viewtiful Joe is a hell of a lot of fun, hilarious, and a gorgeous work of art all at the same time. Dont listen to those wusses who say it's too hard. I'd wager they either A) didn't pay attention to the beginning tutorials about how to chain Slo-Mo combos or B) Tried to out-macho the game by starting on Adults level.

Trust me. Buy the game, play it on Kids if it Adult level is too hard at first (and it clearly is for most players including me), work your way up.

SSBM. I was one of the few that just didn't like Viewtiful Joe. I mainly played SSNM solo and I thought it was awesome, Event mode was great for single player. It's also a lot of fun to try and get all the Trophies.

You're not the only one. I also really disliked Viewtiful Joe.

Viewtiful Joe by a long shot. One of the best video game experiences of the past 2 generations.

SSBM SSBSucks. almostg as much as people who don;t like viewtiful joe

Well, its a tough call, it seems like each game has their pluses and minuses. I am leaning towards SSBM right now. But, that could change when I get to the store tonight. Though, I will end up with both games eventually.

So, thank you for all the help.

Thanks everybody for all the help.

I actually had a last second change of heart at the store, and went with Viewtiful Joe. I'm not disappointed. I was haing a bear of a time on adult mode, so I flipped over to kids mode, and I'm having a good time. After I get through kids mode, I'll kick it up into adult, and see how far I can go.
