#14004676 BestBuy Enforcing Removal of GCU If You Go Past 3 Game Limit

Posted by CheepyDee on 04 June 2018 - 04:49 PM in Shopping Discussions

I'm confused by the people here complaining about the complainers: so what if opinions are being repeated? The fact that so many are saying the same things should strengthen the message that this sucks. If none of us reciprocated those feelings and opinions, then people would think it wasn't a big deal because "only one person complained". Hell no. If you have a gripe with this and haven't yet shared it, feel free to do so! That's how opinions work =D

Oh boy, 5 more pages of whining to read. Keep it up fellas.

A person whining about a whiner; nothing is tastier than that. At least we're talking about the situation at hand - you're just slinging shit into the air.

#14004669 Xbox E3 Sale Event - Starts June 7

the first time the X has been discounted, sure if you just wanted the console. However, countless times there have been bundles which include hundreds of dollars worth of games, making it an even better deal than now. still, cool.

#14004578 Days of Play 2018 - 11 days of PlayStation deals and new limited edition PS4

1. 2005 is mid 2000s
2. Well that’s why they added more modern controls!

1. A technicality doesn't make my assessment wrong. Controls for 3d games were bad then too.
2. I guess I more meant that annoying gameplay element of randomness where you occasionally just stop gripping or fall due to no fault of your own.

And I got Last Guardian for $12 with GCU quite a while ago so there's no way it WONT drop that low =D

#14004574 BestBuy Enforcing Removal of GCU If You Go Past 3 Game Limit

Posted by CheepyDee on 04 June 2018 - 12:51 PM in Shopping Discussions

At 120$ for 2 years I would have NEVER bought it,

You're missing one incredibly important detail - the GCU program was far better when it cost 120/2 years. More games had steeper discounts year round, meaning an avid gamer buying 2 games a month would break even in no time. Today finding a solid GCU discounted deal is like pulling teeth. They haven't had nearly as many steep discounts as they used to.

#14004573 BestBuy Enforcing Removal of GCU If You Go Past 3 Game Limit

Bestbuy will get sued in the end. They erased people warranties on other stuff they had bought. Your whole account should not have gotten erased for this.

Yeah I don't see why they needed to nuke everything and why they simply couldn't have just ended the GCU early. Seems a bit overkill and if people have warranties valuing thousands of dollars, they're gonna hear it.

What if you bought the GCU membership more than 3 times in a year? Is it like a ban inside a ban inside a ban inside a ban....

Banception

Hell they probably got rid of GCU partly because of exploitative asshats. They should've enforced the rule long ago.

#14004566 Best Buy Ad 6/3-6/9

Another fail BB ad :(

And I just have to say LOOOOLOLOL at them trying to sell Shaq Fu for $30. It looks like a bad $10 game. Anyone see the demo? It's embarrassing quite honestly.

I'm sorry but I have to add: Art of Balance Touch came out in fucking 2012 and all they manage to do is knock 25% off? These eshop sales are insulting.

Don’t know if this has been posted but if you pre-purchase Mario Tennis you’ll get an additional 300 points for a total of 600. So, basically like getting $6 back. I hope this type of incentive becomes a regular thing.

To boot, we should always be sure to stock up on those cheap eshop cards e.g. 100 for 80 because that makes it akin to its own GCU discount when buying MSRP, as 1st party downloads hardly ever drop.

Might as well pick them up at launch; 20% discount plus the $6 credit? I'm in.

So torn, do I buy Pixel Junk Monsters 2 on Switch and enjoy it on the new system and mobile or go with the old mainstay ps4? And no one say buy it on all of them.

I had a hard time choosing because in docked mode, the Switch version runs and looks like ass compared to the ps4 version. The fps is halved and isn't even stable at that (not super stable on ps4 either but far less noticeable)

Chose Switch because this is an on-the-go game at heart but the option to dock it for co-op is cool too.

Now, if they made a Vita version and made it cross-buy...ps4 all the way. Sadly I don't think it would even be able to run it.

Anyone think Shadow of the Colossus will hit $10 later this year? If not, I might get it during the sale at Best buy.

With GCU, maybe $12. These remakes fall fast. Who woulda thunk controls considered crappy in the early 2000s wouldn't translate to 2018 well?

#14002400 HD Link (HDMI) for OG Xbox is up at Amazon

Posted by CheepyDee on 30 May 2018 - 08:39 PM in Video Game Deals

OG Xbox is in that sweet spot right now where most of the best games for the system aren't really in demand even though it's retro

That would surprise me because Microsoft has been greenlighting those games lately and they run as if they got a remaster treatment. Quite honestly even if I wanted to play old games, I'd still play it on the One S lol

Damn, glad I pre-ordered one. Surprised at how many are clamoring for one. I don't even have an OG Xbox, though now I might want to find one for sale

#14001566 Best Buy Ad 5/27-6/2

Posted by CheepyDee on 29 May 2018 - 03:38 PM in Video Game Deals

Whoever would sue would be wasting their time and money, because that fine print allows them to do exactly what they're doing...no judge would even entertain a suit.

Maybe. Maybe not. It's far more complicated than you paint it to be.

People have to realize that just because something is in fine print doesn't mean it's magically legal and fair trade; a contract is just a useless piece of paper unless it's actually binding.

Taking it to its extreme, you and I couldn't sign a contract wherein if I won a contest, I got to use you as a slave. The contract would not be binding; certainly not honored merely because it's a contract - involuntary servitude is against the law, full stop. Similarly, this could be the situation with canceling paid-for services.

If you pay for something and don't get said thing, that's a big problem, contract be damned.

See: Zuckerberg's dumpster fire; a fine print contract is not a full proof shield against corporate responsibility. There are trade laws that supercede anything any lawyer can draw up.

Well GTA5 was on sale for $30 10s of times before it's official price drop this past week. Just because Overwatch is constantly $30 doesn't mean it isn't on sale because it will be back up to $60 next week. ;)

Will it, though? I don't really think of a BB ad without it being listed. Whether or not it's $30 literally all the time isn't the point - it's practically always on sale, at least in the minds of consumers.

They're only keeping it at 60 MSRP so that they have the excuse to be in the ad's front page every other week. It's still silly.

#14000829 Best Buy Ad 5/27-6/2

Posted by CheepyDee on 27 May 2018 - 12:36 PM in Video Game Deals

Overwatch is always 30. It was finally cheaper than that a couple days ago. They need to stop putting in "Overwatch $30" as a deal because that's practically the new MSRP. If it's always on sale, then it's never on sale.

If you already own, and enjoy, you can buy it with GCU, then trade it in for psn or xbx credit at GS and basically get the 10 loot boxes for about 3$.  Not a huge deal, but we are cheapasses

It's not cheapassness. It's something far deeper.

#13999508 (DEAD)overwatch goty PS4 xbox one PC..19.99/15.99 GCU best buy

This has easily replaced one of the games in my Top 10 of All Time list. I've played for countless - hundreds (1,000?) - of

hours since its beta and never looked back.

I play it on PC and while I like my consoles, I'd never play this game on console for the same reasons I wouldn't play Starcraft or Counter-strike on consoles.

Considering all this, is it strange that I'm buying a console copy of this, probably never to be opened or played? This CAG site makes me question my sanity sometimes (which probably means I shouldnt be asking any of you fellow CAGers for life advice)

#13999486 PSN Weekly Deals - 7/9: PS Retro Sale! $4 Arcade Archive games,...

Posted by CheepyDee on 24 May 2018 - 05:01 PM in Video Game Deals

It has been this way for years now, so it is obviously a fine business strategy.

So any poor behavior magically becomes "obviously" acceptable merely because "it's [already] been this way for years"?

waiting about 2 years to save 20 - 40 dollars isn't much of a deal if you really wanted to play the game at launch

Speaking for yourself, I suppose. Guess I've outgrown this "GOTTA GET NOW WHILE IT'S FRESH" mentality. The point still stands: EA is not invoking good faith towards its most valuable consumers. So as a result, now I'm increasingly becoming one of their invaluable customers. Not making an empirical statement, simply sharing how it affects me and its result.

Because nothing convinces you to support a game early more than seeing those who didn't get it early get the far better deal.
