For the effort that was put into this release, $40 was asking way too much. More work was put into the Switch release and I think just having it on the go is enough to make people wait for that version.
Considering the amount of competition in regards to new games, this should've launched at $20.
Jim Sterling does an amazing overview on what's good about it and what should have been added to make it a true remaster. Some basic texture packs and an FPS bump is hardly what I'd consider a remastering.
Not only that, Sony hasn't supplied them with any of the lower amount PSN digital codes for months.
Yes, forgot to mention that, thanks. With this it's hard to convince me something's not going on between them. This is about far more than Detroit not going on sale.
No, it'll continue to be a problem because publishers will continue to cheap out. They have a 32GB cart but none of the publishers want to pay for it. They want us to pay for it.
In that sense then I'd put some of the blame on Nintendo. After all they make it far more expensive to release a game on their platform than the others. I don't think it's very ethical for them to penny pinch companies they have stake in.
Wait, Detroit not being on sale less than 6 weeks after release means Sony is feuding with Best Buy?
Not to mention that's a Sony published title, and they're not exactly playing nicely with Best Buy and Amazon at the moment.
As far as Amazon goes, It seems like nothing more than a rumor but it's easy to see why that conclusion is popular to come by; I'd bet they are feuding to some extent.
I mean, go check out Amazon right now and try buying a PS4, Uncharted 4, Detroit Become Human or probably any proprietary Sony property; NOTHING is shipping with Prime, which means Amazon is not stocking anything for Playstation other than third party games. That doesn't strike anyone as incredibly odd?
Oh, I'm well aware of the reality of the business and financial situation. I'm just explaining the reality as it applies to customers. Sucks for them, also sucks for us. If I can't physically put sports games on my Switch, it doesn't really matter how cheap or good the games are. That's a problem they need to sort out. Maybe Nintendo should stop price gouging 3rd parties, for starters. Maybe take a bigger cut of game sales instead of profiting off proprietary game carts.
They can but prices for the cart are too high. Even 32GB wouldn’t solve it and it would add $10 per copy of the game.
Third parties can’t afford to pay that so they go the download route and Nintendo can’t subsidize it or else they’d be out tens if not hundreds of millions
On topic: forgot Red Faction was getting remastered. Gonna pick it up
I would jump on these sports if not for one thing: only about 30% of the game's data is on the card and you need to download the rest...like over 20gb. Good lord! I hope Nintendo starts making bigger cartridges or I just cant have these bulky sports games on Switch.
I'm 39 and I spend more time a week playing videogames now then at any other point of my life.
Whoops, did I imply that I don't play a lot video games? Because that's certainly not the case! I just have grown into so many hobbies and responsibilities. And my situation concurs with yours; being a gamer since potty training days, I have played more games in the past 5 years than I think I have the rest of the previous years combined. Hence, my laughable backlog of $16 games.
Mario Tennis is going to be...
*puts subglasses on*
I wish I could agree. I've been in love with the series since its n64 release. The glaring lack of options, all available in every prior entry, is killing my enjoyment. 2 game, 1 set matches are literally the longest you can play. I've always played 3 game, 2 set matches at the MINIMUM.
You also can't select the difficulty individually for each CPU player - there's just one global difficulty option. Individual skill selection had been a staple in the series.
And only playing as Mario in the campaign leaves it feeling very flat.
Minecraft- I think this is the new update that allows cross play with Xbox and pc, yes? Will have to try it out.
They totally should have launched the update alongside a livestream of Phil Spencer and Reggie playing co-op on their respective consoles.
LOL BINGO?? So much for Wii being the center of entertainment in nursing homes.
Very tempted to pick up Owlboy and/or Mantis Burn Racing. Both look cool. Though I never liked the original $25 pricepoint for Owlboy; $17 is closer to an MSRP than a sale price for me :(
Mantis Racing reminds me of that Motorstorm RC game on Vita - what a gem! One of my very few platinum trophies too.
...Mario rabbids, I loved it, thought it was a little long but decent challenge at times and a fun way to incorporate a ubisoft property I don't care at all about.
I agree it was long in the tooth. There are some missions I found to be purposefully difficult and my cynical self couldn't help but feel like it was padding. The mechanics themselves are solid, original, and best of all, fun, however the pacing needs work.
Thanks Frisky. I also apologize. The internet makes people appear less human and I resent it wholly because it gives us an edge to not be as polite as we would be in person. This is a systemic problem that we all need to deal with. Some are affected more than others (hint: me, as in I'm part of it) but we're all in it together nonetheless.
