Hows about I email you 2 bozos every deal as they come up?
Hey thanks for the constructive post. Maybe if you looked around you'd see that several of the clearance threads have wikis or detailed OPs. If you read further you'd see that I agreed that it might be a good idea not to have a wiki.
I will be more straight forward than the last answer. It's because of slickdeals. First come first serve or not, slick deals ensures you have to beat 10,000 other people to the store. Not only do people not want the op updated, some wish these threads were locked to people not logged in and not on the site a while.
Yeah, once something like this hits SD, that's basically the end of the deal. I remember there was a CC clearance, not the 2004 $4.99 clearance, but still a lot of good games marked down to under $10 and when the list was on CAG, I never saw anyone else with a list or looking for the cheap games. After it was posted on FW and SD, the next day I was at another CC store and I saw 3 others with lists. They could have 1000+ people viewing a major thread there at once and with so many users, it's difficult to compete with all of them to get the deals.
I agree and was thinking about this myself. People seem to not like the updated OP tho as lurkers/el hoardo would/could grab everything. Not really sure why tho as all clearance games are 1st come 1st serve. I wouldn't mind making a new thread myself but I have no way of verifying anything and it would be by word of mouth. For reference the OP wasn't updated for 2 years before the last update.
As of now you gotta just read the thread and remember (write down) what you are interested in and hope they have it in stock
Well, in that case, I take back what I said. Better to read through a few pages than have all the games taken away from us by SDers.
Persona 3: FES 5.97
Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2 5.97
Advance Wars: Days of Ruin 5.97
Dragon Quest IV 5.97
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn 9.97
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 4.97
and.... Persona 3 w/Artbook and Soundtrack CD for 49.99. Was surprised to see this lying around.
Saw a Prototype as well but forgot to pick it up since it was in a glass case. Wish I had found a 360 Elite but no dice.
Are the clearanced game guides still supposed to be so expensive? The soft cover final fantasy 13 guide was only labeled 50% ($12.99 instead of $24.99). I asked for a price scan but it looked like the two clerks were lying to me and they said it was the labeled price. They also wouldn't let me look at the screen. So are standard soft cover guides 75% off or 50% off?
I tried to buy a guide too but it had gone back up to full price.
Super Mario Galaxy 2
SW: TFU II x2
Will be flipping SMG2 and the TFUs. Getting a pretty good value on Amazon with $29.75 for SMG2 and $14 for TFU2. Before I proceed, does anyone know if I can get a better deal at GS perhaps with some coupon or promo that I don't know about?
I checked today one of my cocal BBV in Maryland. They had Star Wars FU 2 and Mafia 2 for 360 only, but both ringed at $19.99, so no go for me, but got some other good fondings all for $14.99:
Assasins creed II
Split / Second
Final Fantasy XIII
Transformers war for cybertron
Medal of Honor
Fallout New Vegas
Your War for Cybertron was $14.99? It was $19.99 at my store although I didn't get it scanned.
HB, can you tell us what your price sheet says? $14.99 would be huge if I could get it for that price.
I'm sorry to tell you that the remote is still $24.99 for some stupid reason. There's too much stuff on clearance to list but if it's not a bluray, DVD, or preowned game, there's a good chance it's on clearance. Posters, toys, books, keychains, smuggles etc are a few examples. Maybe someone can repost a more complete list for u. Sorry I'm trping all of this from my iPhone right now.
Sounds like all the good stuff is not on clearance. I guess I'll have to keep a close eye for when those items do go on sale.
How exactly does a manager do this? Is it the same as a Pricematch, where they issue you a gift card but manually adjust the price on it down to like 1 cent or something?
No it wasn't anything like that. The CSR first tried several registers to process the GC without success. He then spoke to the manager who told him to issue a GC for me. I don't recall the manager actually doing anything at the register. The CSR spent about 5 minutes processing the GC for me at the geek squad counter and then gave it to me along with the paper to sign.
went to 2 BBV last night. First one picked up some cheap HDMI cables and batteries. went to the second store. found some USBs I picked up. Noticed behind the camera they had a few DSs and some 4" generic ipod touches. Asked the cashier about those and she said "they are sold". I asked if you could buy stuff online and do store pick up. "no". so I ask her if some customer bought them and decided to leave them here and pick them up later. "yes". ok, whatever, shady. ask her to plug in the inventory numbers and low and behold, the only inventory left is what is sitting behind the counter. ask her how that can be. "well, that stuff is for employees but we can't buy stuff while we are on shift". so i remind her that no one actually bought it, it is not sold, just being kept by employees for their own. she says "yes". it's shit like this that i do hope the BBV closes. let the shady employees get a good deal before the store closes. at least hide the shit in a cabinet or something. i know, an evil rant, but pissed when employees do this, see it enough at target.
Don't ever accept that kind of crap again. You have the right to purchase those items. They don't have the right to tuck away merchandise to purchase later. It is against store policy for them to do that. Next time call them out or threaten to talk to the manager.
To those who make the excuse that these workers are underpaid and underappreciated and should be allowed to hide items, I say these people should thank God they have a job in our current economy. I also would bear in mind that there is a REASON that these items are clearanced. Not only does it eliminate unwanted stock, but it also draws customers into the store which helps to strengthen BBV as a business. Employees who hoard merchandise are ultimately harming their employer and leading them to a quicker demise.
