Yep tried the system. Didn’t work, I bet they decided to start it tomorrow after the buy two get one free is over.
Did you happen to try trading against a preowned system? They only show systems in the image and it wouldn’t surprise me if it was only for preowned systems. Hopefully GameStop is just running behind activating it though.

I believe you, I had a friend that went through 3 original wii’s. He’s the only person I’ve ever heard of with them going bad. But he had issues with 3. Sometimes you just get bad luck my friend.
Freezing, crashing, constantly disconnecting brand new/battery wireless controllers 2 feet from the console with no obstacles, overheating (which has been determined to do with thermal paste issue with the One X). Not saying they all have those issues but after having major probs with 3 straight, I'm likely out until next gen. I'm sure many have had no issues with their X and that's great. But I'm likely not taking anymore chances. Two of those consoles couldn't even get through the initial powering on/sign up without freezing several times.
Of the 3 One X consoles I had major problems with (and returned), 2 were bought in the Fall of 2018. The 3rd was bought 3 months ago. The Shadow of Tomb Raider bundle (the worst offender) constantly would power off at startup, refused to load games at times from brand new disc, and more.
A couple friends have an One X. Kinda meh tbh, not many exclusive games for the xbone. One system was dead on arrival and the other is as loud as the tv. I'd wait until next gen at this point.
As someone that had two project scorpios and then sold them and bought two nba bundles last year Let me say that most of those problems are launch models. My first two Xbox ones did have a loud fan, But both of these NBA ones have been perfect you can’t even tell they on. In fact we leave them on accidentally all the time. It really is a fantastic system, and surprisingly even though most of my games were for PS4 single player multi platform games I’m now choosing on the Xbox one X. The PS4 Pro was not really worth the upgrade except for VR, but I think the Xbox one x is a huge upgrade.
also in case anyone was wondering both managers got a severance.
Been here since 2003 , I remember when this place was all corn fields .
(in my best dana carvey voice)I remember when i first got here all i had was my gamecube, ps2 and original xbox. not this newfangled 48k TV 2 gigawatt hard drive mess you kids play. Your controllers had long cords and your memory cards plugged into the system, and if you wanted to turn on the system you had to stand up. If there was a new map or character for a game you didn't download a patch, you got your ass over to gamecrazy and bought the damn new version.
That's the way it was and we liked it!
My kids are young so I can’t play the games like god of war and red dead while they are up, and I’m too tired to play after that 😀
my six year old plays the games with me and that has been awesome, he is the first person I played castle crashers with, and we have beaten all the Mario’s together. The highlight was breath of the wild, his face when we got the master sword was awesome.
I always see myself playing games but now money is not the issue, it’s all time. I find myself looking at games and deciding by length, the shorter the game the more I want to buy it. Hell it takes two months to beat a 10 hour game now.
Most b2g1 with Csac they tank values. They go back up after the promos are over. Hold the games for two weeks and you are fine. If you paid any attention(even badly) you know what games always have the high values. When they need trade ins in January they’ll go back up to normal
I hate people like this guy, if you hate a store so much don’t go. I hated Sam goody but did I wish for it of under? No because last competition breeds higher prices. Why do people want less options because they don’t like the option. that’s why it’s called an option, you have a choice not to go.
Or in the case of Fallout 76 where it drops $30 two weeks later lol
Yeah but spend $30 on a bad meal and I don’t care but spend $10 too much on a video game I am distraught.
Crazy mental block, kinda of like how I can go out spend $50 on on a steak get full and leave part of it but the $7 beer I have to finish!
yeah, I enjoy seeing a deal pop up and rushing over hoping to snag it, definitely have bought a lot of stuff I didn't even 'need' but got that deal itch
There are times when I think why the hell am I waiting I have 1k in GameStop credit what do I care if it’s on sale. But if I buy a game at launch and two weeks later it drops $3 I’m pissed at myself. I think I am sick in the head.
Digital books killed Barnes and noble
There simply is no way GameStop will around in 2025. Physical games will barely be around in 2025. At that point, people will be nostalgic about being able to download and "own" their digital games, instead of just having streaming licenses.
Where are valuable brands like: Blockbuster, Toys R Us, RadioShack, Circuit City, Sam Goody, etc?
The writing is on the wall. I hope the employees get out while they can. I'm not trying to be a contrarian, but it's just the reality of how things for GameStop are going. They will be bought out, stripped down, squeezed dry, and buried.
Streaming would kill Sirius radio and vinyl sales
Both of the are doing well just smaller scale.
Streaming video games is still not an option in the vast majority of the county. I doubt the infrastructure of the Internet will be that much better in rural areas in 2025.
They are not going away but they seriously need to lower their footprint. We live in a county with 500,000 people and we have 11 GameStops. None of them do over 1 million a year. Next county over 250k people, two GameStops one does 3 million a year. They have the same problem mattress firm had. Not that I’m complaining since it makes flipping easier but they have stores that are cannibalizing each other. For a niche product that can’t really survive doing that. I bet you if RadioShack or blockbuster would’ve had one store per town instead of one on every corner they would still be around.
Do you have a time machine or something?
In all seriousness. Gamestop isn't doing great right now, but I don't see the company going away as the brand alone is extremely valuable. I could see them being bought out and restructured for sure though.
Does a PS4 not come with one-year manufacturer warranty like most electronics?
Yeas that is why locations push extended warranties, it’s almost 100% profit. The chances of something breaking in the first two years are low, and with revisions of consoles he will probably trade it in anyway. Appliances, cars, home warranties etc companies push them because they make a lot of money.
