Even if your friends and family aren’t die hard gamers, hopefully they don’t get a bad deal as this next generation of consoles hit their stride.
Bad deal? They can save $200 and play all the games someone who paid $500 did. Why do you people care that there is cheaper version for those not wanting the "best" deal at $500?
We had the VCR, S and X. What games can't the VCR or S play? Sure some might chug along but those who have a VCR or S can play all the same games I can on my X. Can't imagine there will be many if any Series X only games. Not everyone can or wants to drop $500 on a console. $200 buys a bunch of games, controllers, and accessories. Or throw another $100 in and get TWO consoles. Might be of more value to parents with 2 or more kids.
Millions of people will be happy with the Series S. They wont care they didn't get the top of the line console. Just like millions of people were/are happy with their XBox One S or VCR.
Personally I am likely to eventually get a Series X. But I can see the appeal of the Series S and it should be a fine console for millions of people.
Biggest news this presentation is Miles Morales available on PS4 as well. Otherwise this next gen overall is still nothing, but TBA.
Sweet. About all Sony has coming out I care about for the foreseeable future. Game doesn't even sound like a full length game. I am sure it will play well enough on my PS4 Pro .
Varies by local state / county. All trade credit purchases have been taxed for a couple of years now in TX.
As you said it varies by state and maybe county. Here in NY as recently as December last year I used trade credit to buy a X1X. Only tax I paid was on what I paid in cash. I wasn't taxed on the bulk of the purchase.
Same on buy a new car. They deduct the trade in from the price of the new car and tax you on the balance. At work I had to buy a phone for someone in California. It was whatever the top of the line iPhone was at the time. Retailed for like $1,000 or something. Tax was on the full retail value of the phone. Not the actual price I was paying which was much less (2 year contract pricing).
I mean they've only shown some CGI so far, but if it's more a DLC fleshed into a smaller game they have a solid base to work with.
I enjoyed the hell out of Spider-Man. I was never really into comic books. So I had no idea who Morales was until the PS5 announcement. The fact that this is Sony's big launch game is kind of meh to me. It seemingly isn't even a full game. IMO I would be slightly more enthused if they said day one Spider-Man is PS5 enhanced and everyone who owns it on PS4 will get the enhanced version for free and this DLC is included or even available for purchase. I never even played the original PS4 DLC yet which I already own.
I imagine die hard Spidey fans are a lot more stoked though. But if their best launch title is basically a short game (6-8 hours maybe like Uncharted Lost Legacy or Infamous First Light that is a bit disappointing or at least not super impressive.
My biggest gripe with Borderlands 3 is they never addressed the Xbox x shutdown issues. Every other game I join with a friend will hard shutdown the system. They said they were looking into it the system came out and still no fixes.
I played the free play weekend BL3 on my previous XBox One X. It shutdown damn near every time I tried to join someone else. I joined their forums and posted about it in one of the threads. I got a forum update the other day emailed to me. Still nothing. Totally crazy. I am so glad I bought it on PS4. I was really debating as I had friends on either platform who were likely to play. I would have been PISSED if I paid for the Super Deluxe Edition at launch on XBox One and almost a year later it is STILL broken.
I haven't tried it on my newer X. I don't have a copy and frankly don't want to chance it.
Re: the DLC, the casino is great and adds to the lore of previous games, the second DLC is a total slog and the enemies are bullet sponges, at least on Mayhem mode.
I agree on the DLC. I haven't played the 3rd at all. I got sick in May and haven't really gotten back into BL3. I think I am waiting for the last DLC and level cap increase but looks like there will be a year 2. Got burnt out on the farming. Was playing with a good group of guys but much of the time our schedules didn't line up (especially after we all went back to work).
I am sure sooner or later I will play the 3rd DLC.
I mean is there anything of note actually launching with the PS5? During their press conferences, I didn’t think they had firm dates for much of anything.
Not really. Just like the PS4/XBox One X launch in 2013. Neither had any decent exclusives for many months. Best game I played was Assassins Creed Black Flag which was on the older consoles too. It was cool to get a console on launch day but no so sure I will bother this time.
1st game I beat was DOOM on the pc. My father was a CAD designer and had access to very powerful computers. He would pick me up from the house and take me to his work. His coworkers and I would play DOOM over LAN. That ended shortly after I was playing some race car sim and actually bricking a $20,000 pc. The company was not pleased but never found out what happened so thankfully no one lost their jobs.
I think Doom was my first too probably. I played games on 2600, NES, Colecovision and a few others but don't recall ever finishing them. I ran a BBS back then and someone uploaded one disc each night. I chatted him and was like tell me why I shouldn't delete this. It takes forever for someone to download all 6 (IRC) 1.44 floppies. He convinced me to try it (I had two PCs) and I stayed up until day break playing it. I hadn't played a video games like that in years before that.
They updated the game so it's more like Wildlands. It still has the item level mode if you want it. It's been updated quite a bit, but I've not started it yet. I got the CE when it launched and none of my friends got it despite enjoying wildlands.
I got Wildlands specifically to play with a group of friends who had it. It was a blast. Playing this solo. Its ok but its no Wildlands.
Breakpoint 3 dollars cheaper than last week lol
I picked it up a couple months ago "new" from GameStop. Just started playing in a few days ago about 8 hours in. Not sure it's worth $12. Even with the addition of 3 AI squad mates the game just isn't nearly as much fun as Ghost Recon Wildlands. Also a ton of crap in the menus. I haven't figured out half of it. Don't care for the way they list missions on the screen. Or rather how convoluted it is to turn some of them off. Just seems like they went the wrong way with this game at launch and are trying to patch it back to what it should have been. Probably finish it but not even tempted to buy the DLC.
I personally have had perfect attendance during the pandemic and protests due to my loyalty to my customers. Even though my wife and kids worry about me every day. I have received countless thank yous for working during all this world chaos. If your package is delayed i am sorry and do take it personally. I only write on here because i take pride in what I do and many are asking "what's going on ".
Take care Everyone. Be safe in this crazy world.
UPS has been fine for me this year. Only one delay of a couple days due to civil unrest in the Chicagoland area. Thanks for all you do.
Man quite a process, might have to do this if you want some Ubisoft stuff https://drops-register.ubi.com/#/en-US
I can't even get past the first step. I click the link. Click login using twitch. It then prompts me I think for my uplay login. Which is stupid IMO. I just click log on using twitch. I am logged into both twitch and uplay in my browser so I know my credentials. Neither works.
I own most of their current games so not sure it even matters much.
Completely disagree. Was one of my favorites. It dared to do something different and it worked.
I haven't played Primal yet. I picked it up right around the time I was playing Horizon Zero Dawn. Figured it would be too similar maybe. Maybe some day.
Did people forget that some PS3 models played ps2 games? And a few even played PS1 and PS2 games...
I had the PS3 MGS4 that was backwards compatible. I played a handful of PS2 discs my FIL had on it. Was it worth the $100 premium? Probably not.
The 360 was a great example of process node shrinks because it went through multiple revisions shrinking different parts.
Xenon (Launch model) - 90nm CPU and GPU (massive RROD issues)
Falcon - 65nm CPU and 80nm GPU
Jasper - 65nm CPU and GPU
Trinity (360 Slim) - 45nm combined CPU/GPU
I skipped a few for brevity, and there were more revisions after this (e.g. Xbox 360E), but they never went smaller than 45nm on the 360.
She was talking about the 360, not the XB1.
Thanks I missed that. Even bigger improvements over the 360 revisions IMO. HDMI was added at some point as was built in wifi. And as you mentioned the original had the RROD.
The slim model uses about 50% less power (180w vs 90w) which probably contributed to fixing the heat issues, but otherwise yes, it was pretty functionally the same.
They also added HDR support and a bit more power (terraflops). And got rid of the external power supply. Also 4K BluRay drive which I actually used sometimes.
I feel like 3 is the best of the numbered Far Cry games, but Blood Dragon is by far the best in the series. Funny how Blood Dragon was basically an expansion for 3 though- the series has never reached those highs ever again. It needs an Assassin's Creed style reboot badly these days.
I liked Blood Dragon a lot more then I thought I would. I started it on 360 but didn't get too far. Then for a couple years didn't have a XBox. Finally gave it another try when I got a XBox One. Glad I finally gave it a second chance. Really cool game.
I didn't start playing till 4. Why is 3 the best in the series?
They have a formatting procedure they have to do when they accept the trade. It won't save you time but to be sure it's wiped properly, I'd format it beforehand
On a PS4 I agree. On an XBox it's a PIA. If you wipe the XBox they will ask you to log into it anyway. They need an account on there to test it. PS4 allows guest. XBox doesn't. Last time I traded an XBox One X it was such a PIA. First store had some POS little touch screen that was so jacked up I couldn't see on screen keyboard. They didn't have a working keyboard so I took it to another GS which had working equipment. She claimed they have to hold onto it for 7 days due to pawn laws (which is fairly new 1+ year in my county). She promised she would wipe it then. I was like whatever. Went home reset my XBox Password and made sure the console wasn't associated with my account.
PS4 take longer to wipe in my experience especially if you choose the through option. But they can easily test it with a guest login.
