EA: Oh wait, we're actually going to have to change things in ME1 in order to sell it again.

Well, to be fair, Mario 64 didn't change anything, so I appreciate that EA is not just dumping it out there and expecting people to accept it as is.

Looks like my Astro A50 Gen 2 will not support the Series X, so I've made the decision to trade in my PS4 pro towards a new headset (Only play exclusives and will prolly end up with a PS5 before horizon is out).

What do people recommend?  The Astros were good, but I hate the base.  I have to unplug it every day before it works (pc switch trick does not work) and the charge is really finicky.  I liked some Turtle Beaches I had a few years ago but my big head broke the head band after a time.  I've got a wired Rigg headset but don't like the feel of it and don't know if the 800s have the same issue.

I have both the Turtle Beach 600 and 700 and they are both really nice.  No dongle needed, etc.  The 600's do have a potential to break on the side if you're not careful with them due to a less than ideal design.  The 700 doesn't seem to have this issue.  There is a new 2nd gen 600 but I don't know if they have updated the flaw in the design.  I would assume they probably have at least strengthened it a little.

I have two kids with Artic 9x that really like them.

I have friends with the Astros and they have always seemed problematic or finnicky in some way so i've never tried them.  I'm sure they are good, though.

#14328884 Xbox Series S/X Pre-Order Thread - Now with Direct Links! - Live 9/22 8AM...

I expect to get fully roasted on this but after getting the first version of the Elite controller, I never understood the hype. It wasn’t bad at all but having the paddles on (I think that’s what they were called) never felt right for any of the games and I ended up never using them so it was just a heavier normal controller.

Never understood the reason for it when the base controller is so good already, but I think it’s more the price for me than anything.

I agree.  It's fine, but if you're not using the paddles or extra features, it's just a nicer feeling controller.  I've never understood the obsession with better controllers, though.  The standard one feels fine to me and i'm not looking at it that much so special colors and designs are not that exciting, either.

That Movers and Shakers sales page looks a day late. Series X wasn't on it yesterday and is #1 today with the One X nowhere to be seen.  Stop spamming that stupid tweet.

I will admit that in my excitement/FOMO to pre-order, I clicked on a One X in Amazon.  I searched Series X and One X came up with no results for Series X.  I feel like that's partly on Amazon for having poor results, but either way, if I was momentarily confused, I could see a lot of mothers and grandmothers be even more confused and go through to buy it assuming it was the right product.

That being said, most mothers and grandmothers are likely not pre-ordering and the confusion online or in a retail store should be less once the product is out and correctly listed.  I do think Microsoft deserves some of the blame since they picked such poor naming conventions and also didn't learn from the WiiU problem.

While the acquisition is fantastic news for Xbox and will even the playing field this console generation, I can't help but feel a little bummed that PSVR probably won't get anymore Bethesda games. Was really hoping for some great PS5 VR titles from them.

I have a feeling PSVR likely ruined this for itself.  It's still a fairly niche product for a AAA developer to be making games for.

I Mean it's a Bethesda game, it'll run like ass regardless of console in the first three months. So I guess less ass on the Series S?

I think this was a reference to how PS3 never got fixed.

There's still very little info about it, or how it works, besides it being 18 PS4 games that you can download and play digitally for "free" with a PS+ subscription day one on your PS5. I imagine it to be like the ambassador program for the 3DS, in a way.

It's clearly a response to Microsoft's GamePass.  Microsoft is now essentially selling GamePass and, if you want, a console to go along with it.  I guess this is a half step towards trying to show some parity since you'll get "all these games" immediately.  I'm not really sure why they don't just turn PS Now into a true GamePass competitor and maybe that's the eventual goal and they just want to move slowly.

I have a feeling there was some artificial scarcity that we'll see go away at a lot of retailers.  I'm thinking Sony gave a "small" allotment number to various retailers and then has the option to increase it as often as they want.  I'm sure there is a finite number, but it may be much larger than the past 24 hours indicates.  Maybe it's devious on the part of Sony or maybe Sony is just being very cautious.

I get what people are trying to say, but new systems are coming out, you're not going to get these high of a value for old systems for long. It's not a nostalgia play yet. Might never even have a nostalgia wave for Xbox systems.

I think what a lot of people are saying is they could sell their old consoles to an individual for more than trading in.  This may be true since I see those comments a lot and there are apparently some bad decision makers out there who will pay you $250 for your used stuff that they could purchase new for $300, etc.

Personally, as much as I don't like Gamestop, I appreciate that they offer a way to offload my stuff without having to arrange a meeting at the local police station so I don't get shot when selling someone my Xbox to a stranger.  The ease of use Gamestop offers is worth saving the hassle of Craigslist, etc. even if the trade value is "low."

Sorry was't clear on my original post my situation is a bit different and probably won't affect many others,  the current way it works right now with 1 on the home console and the other user logged in to the account and online still works as it always has -- my situation is a bit different because we have 3 XB1's -- previously I could buy a game on my account -- my son (on my home xbox) can play any game I own (and game pass etc..) while I was logged in to my account and online I could play any game I own - my daughter on a 3rd xbox could log in with her account and log into my account (that would log me out briefly) she could then start a BC 360 game and then I could log back in and my daughter could continue to play her 360 game (it would log me out of her XB1 but her game would still be fine) - now if I start a game after she has started a 360 BC game instead of just logging me out of her XB1 it kicks her out of her game.  The change does allow 1 account to be logged into multiple non home XB1's but only of those people can play any type of game (the other can watch netflix/hulu, etc - but as soon as both are running a game of any type you get a nice message and somebody has to exit (since this was supposedly added because of xbox cloud streaming not sure if that will behave differently and that will be like an app?) .  I agree MS is way more generous for sharing than sony or nintendo just disappointed we lost that "feature" -- I really wish they would bring back the family gold option at a slight premium -- too bad that got abused way too much

tl/dr = sharing works the same as always (and actually better for non game apps)  unless you have 3+ consoles

OK.  I actually have your same issue (except I have more kids).  So this isn't as exciting to me now that you clarified it because I thought one account could be logged in for different games at the same time.  I didn't realize there was a "glitch" with 360 games, but it seems logical they fixed it for whatever reason.

Also, this is less interesting because we use Roku, etc. for apps.

I have been struggling with multiple accounts for years.  It's not a problem except that what we're talking about is trying to keep games affordable by not buying everyone a copy (and also not paying for Gold, etc. for everyone).  I never did it with PS3, but I am shocked at how they once allowed up to 6 consoles to game share at one time.

Developers make that choice themselves and it hasn't been said. I'd say it will come to the PS5 someday, but who knows if that upgrade will be free.

I read the post as referring to backwards compatibility, but maybe they meant an actual PS5 version.  My understanding is that almost any PS4 game should be BC with PS5 but that not all have been tested.  The marketing and information on this has been a little hazy, though.

Edit- The list of supported xcloud titles has inadvertently confirmed River City Girls and Katana Zero as coming to Game Pass soon. Very cool.

Has it been confirmed if xcloud will ever be available for anything not on Game Pass? Other press has said xcloud supports something like over 2000 games, but it's only been talked up for current Game Pass games.

That and Windows 10 support are the two things I really want to know right now.

I'm confused on this issue also, but i've not done any research.  The wording they have used over the past couple years led me to believe almost anything in your Xbox library would eventually be xcloud compatible.  My assumption was that I could play my copy of XYZ game since I own it (unrelated to Gamepass).  But maybe i'm way off.

So with the recent update to allow one account to be logged into multiple consoles at the same time as long as only 1 of you is playing a game - we've seem to have lost the ability to have one person playing a backward compatible 360 game on an xb1 and another person playing an xb1 game at the same time -- feature my family used a lot, kind of sucks that it is gone (haven't tried to see if using the same account on an actual 360 still works)

So this is confirmed on the multiple logins?  I'm surprised they are allowing it, but it's great for my family that all share several consoles and have digital games owned by various people.

I don't fully understand your issue with BC and Xb1 no longer working at the same time.  I guess since BC uses a different system that must cause the conflict.  I assume it still works if one person is on the "home" console, right?

I'm not surprised that a change like this also cut into sharing features like you mentioned.  Quite frankly, Microsoft is so much more "generous" on the whole sharing issue than Sony or Nintendo, so I don't blame them too much.

I just don't get this. I can't fathom the thought of another person telling me what I can and can't do with my money. I would feel like I am a teenager living with my parents all over again. One of the money reasons I'm single I guess. If I want to buy something, there is no discussing with anyone. Especially something that is a limited edition and only $300. It's not like you bought a house or car without telling her. Plus, worst comes to worst, you order it and if she's still bitching, you could have sold it for a profit. I'm talking $100-$200 more and most women out there are obsessed with money so she would have actually been happier with the extra cash. Shoot, I wouldn't have even told my wife I was even ordering it unless you were using her credit card and don't have your own which would be even more amazing that you got a woman to marry you without even owning a credit card. If that's the case, you must be like more attractive than Brad Pitt to pull something like that off.

I would assume there are a lot of couples that think a $300 purchase is significant enough that it should be discussed first.

If you want to be able to buy stuff and never have to discuss it or justify it, you are indeed making the right choice of staying single. :)

There sure is a lot of definitive talk one way or another about the superiority or inferiority of Series S and One X.  I don't think numbers and specs are clear enough for anyone to be so sure about things.  I do have a hard time believing Microsoft would put out a "next gen" console (even their cheap one) that would be weaker and inferior to something from current gen.

I have it on disc when I naively thought it would be limited based on retailer exclusivity. But if I get the Series S, I'd like it digital. Hmmmmm.

For $3.50 isn't it a no brainer when you're already interested?  You can barely buy breakfast for that much.  Also, I wouldn't be surprised if tade-in at Gamestop would help you break even.

Not sure if this has been working or not but as of today I have my main account on 3 different Xbox One consoles. Now all 3 consoles have my full library of games and can play online without any extra purchase of Xbox live gold.

This sure doesn't sound correct (the post from Aug 25).  I recall signing in on one console has signed me out elsewhere within the past few weeks but I don't recall the date it last happened.  If it's true, it will probably get abused enough that Microsoft will change it back.  I have several Xboxes with shared games for myself and kids and this has generally been a problem (except for the home console).

The 3 different consoles is correct and will work on Live as long as you are signed in.  I actually have my profile and games on about 6 machines and I assume you can do it infinitely as long as it's your home console or you are not signed in on more than one non-home console.

I will say that, regardless of whether you can be signed in on multiple consoles, Microsoft handles this in a much friendlier way (and easier to keep up with) than Sony or Nintendo.  Sony will let you do similar, but the saves only work on the "home" console unless you manually upload them and they won't sync across devices.  Nintendo is apparently the worst on this and limits you to one Switch and one Switch Lite per account from what I can tell.

Well, the Switch is only $300, and started that way, and supports NES and Super Nintendo controllers specially created for the system as JoyCons, along with GameCube controllers using an adaptor, and it is sort of backwards compatible, if you look at it from the standpoint that they are reselling you almost every Wii U game ever made, and you get those free NES and Super Nintendo games with a $20 online subscription. Also, the Xbox One S all digital edition came at a starting price of $249.99. So, there have been consoles dropped at cheaper starting prices before. I'm pretty sure the original PlayStation started at $199, and it blew the SEGA Saturn out of the water so bad that they had to drop their price by $100, and pack in three or four games to get people to buy their console over the PlayStation.

First of all, no one should be willing to paint Nintendo as a value choice in virtually any comparison contest.  The reference gamegirlpocket is making is probably the fact that the Xbox Series console is launching with two different models at the same time.  This would be like Nintendo launching the Switch and Switch Lite at the same time rather than waiting a couple years like they did.

The 9/22 preorder date is interesting. Gives them time to counter whatever Sony reveals in the next week.

I can't imagine Microsoft changing the pricing now that it's announced.  I guess they could give away some extra freebies with the console but that seems unlikely.  I have a feeling MS is feeling pretty good about the competition since they have the Series S price point.

Maybe read it again? I clearly said 'for me' in the post. So why would I care how others view the launch lineup?

My point was, why would you express your opinions on a forum and then act as though it shouldn't have been responded to?  99% of posts here are personal opinions and people reacting to those personal opinions.

I'm glad you're happy with Gears Tactics as the launch game you want.  It's a good game.  I was simply saying I don't feel like it's good enough or popular enough of a game to sway mine or many other people's opinion on purchasing the console.  It's just a comment or counter opinion to your opinion.  Maybe some people just want to express their opinions to the forum and not have people comment on them.

Gears Tactics is enough for me as far as first party launch titles. That alone makes this launch better than the X1. Wake me up when September 21st ends.

It's fun, but not like a true first party AAA title.  It feels like it was made for Gamepass, but perhaps that's common for the genre.  I doubt many people will see it as a better option than Ryse or Dead Rising 3.

Since the Series S will be $299.99, do think it will make it easier to find the Series X since it's at $499.99?

Probably.  It's possible the Series S might be harder to find than the X since it is positioning itself as such a value proposition.  Assuming Sony is similar price to the X, it seems like Series S may be the hot item this holiday.  I'd bet Microsoft has planned accordingly, though.

Hmm....

Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Cyberpunk 2077

Destiny 2

Doom Eternal

Elder Scrolls Online

Gears 5

Grand Theft Auto V

Halo Infinite

Forza Horizon 4

Observer: System Redux

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Sea of Thieves

The Witcher 3

Yakuza: Like a Dragon

Yep, my hypothetical internal drive is already full. Guess I'll just need to get used to moving stuff back and forth from the regular externals. No big deal but I was hoping to avoid that for a while.

I understand (and like) the concept of having a bunch of games on a hard drive, but realistically, how many of these games do you actually need quick access to?  I'd bet most people play about 2-3 games at any one time and hardcore gamers probably play 4-5 games at any one time.  Everyone is different on this, but I find that 90% of my downloaded games are sitting untouched all the time.

This doesn't account for people with data caps or bad internet.  I understand those issues and why you would want more downloaded.

Jesus, really worldly people in here. Way to give a shit about things beyond gaming.

There are still companies selling lots of luxury goods.  I'm sure you could find a lot worse than a gold plated console.  There are billionaires who buy private jets with gold in the carpet.  If we're going to be upset at Sony, don't we have to get upset at everything else in the luxury class?

And aren't there also those who can't afford a $500 console who would say the same thing about the regular version?  It's all relative.
