Gamestop has the Joycon battery pack on clearance, and easily available, for $12. Good for games like Arms and SMO that use the split Joycon setup. I mostly bought it to use as a grip, as it increases the size of the Joycon to slightly larger than the Wii Remote.

new to switch... does Nintendo just have eshop deals in random days? like how Sony and MS have their deals the same day every week. it seems that Nintendo just has random days throughout tht week with sales.

Thursday is the main day for new releases and sales, and when the weekly press releases go out. Though, Nintendo allows publishers the discretion to choose any other day if they prefer.

It's disappointing that the membership is tied to an individual account rather than the all the accounts on the console. Is that how it is handled on the other two?

Virtual Console is not coming back either.

Valid points for sure, but the changes they made that is now BotW, doesn't even feel like a Zelda game to me anymore. Might be a great open world game like Skyrim or GTA, but as a main Zelda title, it didn't move me at all. WW & BotW are the only two titles I had to force myself to play, with me only finishing WW.

After months of playing BotW, I finally had enough, as it just wasn't fun, at least WW was nice to look at, but BotW was nothing special graphically. The game was just a snooze fest, as even though the world was HUGE, it was about as boring to me as WW was. If this is where the series is going, I'll probably be retiring. LOL

Zelda for me went from, wait two hours in line to get a Wii; to, eh, I should pick up BotW before my preorder gets canceled.

There are parts that I liked; I had no idea the Divine Beasts existed until I spotted the one in Gerudo because I wandered there right after finishing Great Plateau. But then it slowly starting getting so monotonous after that, with so little of the game having any real purpose other than to take up time, that I ended up feeling relieved it's over by the time I finished it.

Zelda should be like, 50 hrs tops anyway.

(I loved WW, even though sailing got so boring I'd set a course and leave the room for 10min. I usually made it to my destination.)

Does the Wii U version have any functionality with the GamePad? If it does I'd be interested otherwise I'd prefer the Vita version. Then again I guess I could just remote play the PS4 version since I'll be home anyway.

Gamepad has a persistent map and selectable icons for the guns in addition to Off-TV play. It's not much, but the map is enough for me to wait for a physical Wii U release. Glad it's not canceled, even if the wait is a little long.

Any news on the reports of the physical copy of sonic mania for the switch?
I was told of a possible digital sale in the near future. If a physical copy is getting released. I think I will wait for it.
I bet it will have some cool retro themed case with it.

NS version comes out in the summer for $30, same as the other two. The new content will be available as a free update for the digital version. Reversable cover with Genesis branding.

Mutant Mudds Collection is going to be 50% off starting today.  I think that would make it 7.50.  Anyone who has it, is this worth picking up for someone who has never played any of the mutant mudds games?

I'd say so, having played both games on the 3DS. If you like retro-styled platformers, Mutant Mudds has the 12-bit design and aesthetic down pat. It's difficult without becoming frustrating and there's also a lot of content to play through.

I would personally miss the 3-D effect from the 3DS versions though.

So is "N" rewards program still just pretty much all digital games and discounts? No physical merchandise right?

I signed up early on, but the system seemed rather confusing, with nothing really worth my effort to try and obtain. Also, did they ever set it up where kids under 13 can have their own accounts for points earning, or at least a way to attached to a parents account?

Japan gets the occasional physical reward; but nothing here, so far.

You can set up children's accounts, though I haven't any clue how they work.

Starting in May, My Nintendo will let you spend gold coins towards digital games. Seems like they're also changing how many coins you get to be based on what you pay (5% for digital, 1% for physical NS), rather than what range the normal price falls in.

Yeah, I'm the first one to slam "N" when an opportunity presents itself...

Oh, believe me, I've noticed. Seriously though, they're not as bad as Apple, but Nintendo loves charging a premium whenever they can get away with it. Too bad the rumor about Nintendo providing the patterns didn't pan out, would of been fun to make the piano out pine sheets, though I really like the plain cardboard aesthetic the originals have.

Did anyone else know that Pan-Pan came out for the NS back in September? I try keeping up with all the releases but this wasn't on any of Nintendo's pressers or even in this topic. I only noticed it when I was getting picross e7 earlier today and it surprised me that it had been released without any mention.

Labo is easily the best thing Nintendo has done with the NS and probably the most creative thing they've done in a while. It's the most excited I've been about a Nintendo product in a long time; even if I don't plan on getting it.

The meltdown from hardcore gamers forgetting Nintendo is a toy company first was a bonus though, they were getting too chummy anyways.

#13923255 Select Wii U games Bogo free Target

Based on what I've read, it's a disappointment compared to Thousand Year Door, which I wouldn't be able to refrain from comparing it too, but it's apparently not as bad as Sticker Star.  Is that true, or is it an overreaction?

Color Splash greatly improves on Sticker Star's formula to the point where it's actually a fun game. There's still has the problem where it's an action game with turn-based battles instead of an RPG, and it'd be a much better game if the developers committed to one or the other.

Star Fox Zero I enjoyed, but it did take a little while for the control scheme to click. You have to be able to handle both screens during some boss fights, and it wasn't until my second playthrough that I could easily beat them.

Star Fox Guard is a solid title too, and $15 for each is a pretty good deal.

I ended up getting it with the B2G1 thing at GS. I’ll give it a shot and if I absolutely hate it, maybe I’ll exchange it in the 7-day period but I did want to try it at least.

Edit: just played through the first mission and the controls aren’t great but, honestly, I had fun with it. Mostly was looking at the gamepad and maybe I just had set really low expectations. Still was more enjoyable than I feared after reading some of the comments here.

Personally, I liked SF: Zero, it's just that it took two playthroughs to master the second screen mechanic. By then I had a much easier time fighting the bosses and felt like I actually knew what I needed to do. One secret boss in particular took about a dozen tries the first time, afterward, I beat it quickly enough to get a medal.

That being said, I genuinely liked the Wii/ Wii U era Nintendo for being more experimental, so I never minded having to learn a new control scheme for a game.

Yep, all three share a wallet.

Stupid question. I still have a Wii laying around and thought about hooking it up to play some older games, GameCube titles and Mario games.

I know the Wii digital store is supposed to close (in 2019?). But are there “deals” on it? I see the OP mentions some Wii U games that may be playable on Wii.

Apart from the games Nintendo used to give away on Club Nintendo, the only game I ever saw on sale for the Wii was Retro City Rampage through VBlank's website. On the bright side, most games are 1000 points and under so some of the best games (Art Style Series) are pretty cheap to begin with.

Also, if you have a Wii U, every Wii game is playable through the Wii Channel if you wanted to go that route.

For what it's worth, I don't have any plans to buy it despite owning the previous 6. The puzzles supposedly aren't very good since the guy who made them died of old age a little while ago.

Is Lady Layton actually good? I'm a fan of the series but what I've heard about this game worries me:

Short
Potty humor for a younger audience
Cliffhanger ending

Am I just over thinking this? I just want to play a good Layton game.

I'm personally holding out for the Wii U version, mostly since I'd prefer having a second screen available. But I also want to fill out my Wii/Wii U shelf and the Wii U isn't pulling it's weight. That and the NS doesn't have a decent D-pad at all.

I sent BadLand an email, maybe they'll say something.

#13874453 Indie/Limited/Obscure Physical Release Deals and Discussion Thread

I'm not sure if this has already been posted, but it appears upcoming Switch racer Gear.Club Unlimited will have a physical release that will be available only at Gamestop. The Nintendo website shows it will be available at Amazon, Best Buy, Target, etc... However, I can't find it listed anywhere but Gamestop, and the Gamestop listing and picture of the case specifically say "Only at Gamestop".

It's a timed retail exclusive, but I have no idea when it'll be sold through other retailers.

Does anyone know if Snipperclips Plus digital version is also going to be $29.99? Just wondering so I can know whether I should preorder a physical copy.

It's going to be $10 DLC for Snipperclips.
