In Sarugetchu: Pipo Saru Racer (aka. Ape Escape Racing) you build your monkey into a racing machine, by giving him an engine and tires. The game features 47 vehicles, each in two forms: one specialized in drifting, one specialized in acceleration.

The main game consists of playing four tracks in a grand prix. The better you do each time will fill a monkey bar at the top of the grand prix menu. Once this bar is filled a VS mode is unlocked where you have to play the tracks again but an evil, much faster monkey is involved in the races. If you become overall #1 then you will 'rank up' and unlock another 4 tracks and so on.

You can replay the levels you have unlocked in a normal race form or in a time trial form. Each of the tracks are set in the same arena but the path changes to a harder one as you unlock more. The tracks are set in this order. The Beach, The City, The Graveyard and The Jungle. Please note that these are not the original names but the author's interpretation.

Is Ape Escape Racing any good ?
Does anyone know if there's English language support ?

I'm tempted at $15.

zero english support unfortunately.

But it is pretty interesting. Plays like a mix of Kinetica and Mario Kart. As you can probably tell from the cover, you don't actually race in karts, rather your monkey is the vehicle and you strap a motor on his back, and wheel gloves on his hands like armor. There are different parts to acquire all with different stats, so it's very much about building the perfect monkey. The racing itself is kinda technical, though, and if you aren't taking the correct line through curves, or if you spin out, it's very hard to get back in the race.

I think I read a review on GameBrink.com a while back and they said it was pretty bad, but I just might have to try this out.

I really doubt this game will come out in the states, so it's probably worth cehcking out....

Yeah here's the link the the review at games brink.

http://www.gamebrink...er-reviews.html

They mention that it only has 4 tracks which is kind of a bummer. The playasia description mentions that there are multiple routes on the tracks but I don't know if that's enough to stop you from getting bored.

I'll probably still bite on this before the week is up.
