It is true about PSP selling surpringly well. I suggested either PSP core or Daxter bundle as a gift for me, and in the past couple weeks it had been generally hard to find or very quickly selling when available.

The Star Wars bundle is and was the exception, often in stock while the others went oos quickly.

Walk into any Electronics store in any Major U.S. city and tell me you cannot find a psp.
Wiis (at the moment) are just a bit tougher to find.

I think the issue is that any PSP -without- Darth Vader on it is hard to find.

To many (me included) the Darth Vader version may as well not exist. I'd rather do without than own one with it.

If there wasn't a shortage and it was in low demand then ebay prices wouldn't be almost 100$ over retail on the item, theoretically ebay prices should be lower than retail on an item if its in low demand. This shortage isn't on the level of the Wii shortage but its a shortage nonetheless. Even the sony store was backordered on the PSP slim yesterday.

I would also rather do without the PSP than purchase the star wars bundle, but thankfully I managed to get an order in for the daxter one without paying ebay prices, and I like the silver color.

Yeah.. I was a little confused as well. Ive seen PSPs in every electronics section of every store i've walked into over the past week or so - about a half dozen stores - in the chicagoland area. I'm not bashing the OP - just saying this shortage is completely news to me.

The Daxter bundles are getting hard to find around here. I was watching a couple on Ebay and the results are ridiculous.

Yeah, the Darth Vader one is much easier to find. I'm a big SW fan, so I bought one, but overall, it isn't the greatest of deals.

I didn't realize that these were that hard to find. It's probably just because of the Holiday rush. I haven't had any trouble finding those. I was in the WTF crowd with this too.

I am not sure why they are hard to find, last year they were everywhere during the holiday season (heck the psp was the only system you could buy on christmas eve around here!), so I am guessing its either retailers underestimated their stock or the demand for the slim psp is more than expected.

I think the demand might have been slightly higher than expected, probably driven by some of the big name titles have dropped recently. Also, I believe a solid number of PSP owners traded in their older models for the Slim one. For me, it was worth taking the hit, because no-hassle video out was something that really hurt the original PSP model.

Yeah, I'm in the group that sold their fatty psp for a slim. I had no idea it would be this hard to find, so I'm definitely guessing that the demand is just really high for it, which is great. More sales should mean more quality games.

Yeah, I'm usually a sucker for anything limited edition but that Star Wars one definitely meke me not want to buy the slim. I've been considering the slim but I was reading the back of the package of one of those av cords that allows the video out to the tv and it says that games won;t show up on tv, only the umds will be on tv. Is that true?

The PSP has been OOS for a long time (Core & Daxter) both B&M & Online. I've been trying to get one for weeks (and a decent deal) and TRU, Target, BB, CC, Amazon, Walmart, Gamestop, Barnes & Noble have all been OOS and then got restocked but sold out very quickly. Unless you want SW bundle.
