For the time being, CAGFC has been scaled back to only having a Heavyweight division using career CAFs. Check out www.cagfc.comxa.com for information on the new format and latest updates on upcoming CAGFC events!

Hello everybody! Welcome to the official home of the CheapAssGamer Fighting Championship! Brought to you by n8rockerasu! With the impending release of UFC 2009: Undisputed, it's only natural that we CAGs lock ourselves in the octagon and throw down! For all intents and purposes, this will be similar to any other online sports league you've been a part of. The difference is, this is man against man. No seasons. No schedules. No AI teammates. No one to blame but yourself.

Non-Career CAF Tournament #1
In addition to the regular weekly card, we will be holding a special tournament using NON-CAREER, NON-GLITCHED CAFs in the Light Heavyweight division. The tournament will be single elimination and will be used as a test to gauge interest in the possibility of shifting the focus of CAGFC to non-career CAFs.

Here's the bracket for the tournament. Match ups were created using a random generator on Random.org, the results of which I pasted into the bracket so you could see for yourself. Feel free to get these fights started, and post results as you normally would (maybe specifying that it's for the tournament just to make it easier to keep things straight). Feedback about the difference in fights from regular career CAFs is also encouraged. Good luck!

If we're using real fighters, I'm in for Anderson Silva.

If we use real fighters, we will either have a draft, or another idea that was thought of is not keeping one set fighter (unless you're holding a belt...in which case you'd have to defend with the fighter you won it with), but allowing the challenger to pick any fighter to try to beat you.

The drawback of this system is there wouldn't be much of a "career" feel or an identity for each CAG, but more of a "who's the best at the game" feel. Deciding how to do weight classes would also be trickier since you could potentially challenge for multiple classes at once. This is just another idea that was brought up though. Obviously, we'll have a better idea of how things would work when the game is released.

Downloaded the demo and had a blast despite being a casual MMA fan (and by casual, I mean I've seen a few fights and can name a few fighters). I managed to put together some pretty combos and takedowns as well as a couple of vicious knockouts. Completely in agreeance that casual players are going to be able to compete pretty well using basic strikes and takedowns and the hardcore players are going to be going for submissions. I like that it's an actual struggle once it goes to the mat - shoudl definitely avoid the cheap tapouts that have plagued this genre since the beginning.

Hopefully I can find a deal on it somewhere - definitely interested in a CAGFC if it's put together well. Intrigued by the use of created fighters to ensure a level playing field.

Cause I'm sick of seeing ghosts, and I know how it's all gonna end

There's no triumph waiting, there's no sunset to ride off in

We all want to be great men, there's nothing romantic about it

I just want to know that I did all I could with what I was given

I just want to sell out my funeral.

I just want to be enough for everyone.

There are already some guys that have been talking about running a league, so you may want to consult with them since you're new. But I'll join if this thing happens.

Okay, I read on GameFAQs that in order to take your CAF online, you have to beat the career mode and "retire" him. If that's true, goodbye CAFs for this league.

If I get the game, I'm in, but not sure what character, because of the no Randy Couture.

You guys need to read the OP. There's no point in "calling dibs" on a fighter. If real fighters are used, a draft will be held. Personally, I'd rather use created fighters, but if what Matt said is true, that won't work. I tried to find what he was referencing, and read through like 5 pages on the GameFAQs board, but I just couldn't take it anymore.

The stupidity on that site is incredible. I think there are more 12 year boys there than at Michael Jackson's Neverland ranch. If I hear one more person talking about Kimbo Slice, or comparing UFC to WWE, I might shoot somebody. Hopefully whatever Matt found is wrong though. Like others have said, I'd like to have an even playing field.

Oh, also, Randy Couture allegedly signed a contract with EA to make an MMA game. Although, it seems destined to fail if it doesn't have the UFC license. I mean, they could go to Affliction and get guys like Fedor and Barnett, but it wouldn't have the same brand appeal. I'm sure there will be plenty of options to create Randy in UFC 2009. Just go with that.

This sounds good to me. Using a CAF would be cool but actual fighters could be cool too. I'm in.

I just called Dib's cause I'm a Retard. But if what Matt said is true, I will glady retire my Player. But we will have to see once it comes out. Hell, I honestly could play as anyone at this point and love it. :D

I'm down like Charlie Brown for this. No point on calling a fighter so I won't bother. I don't even know exactly how a league will work but IDK I'm in.

Well if the fact you can't use CAF's unless you 'retire' them in career mode, that is probably out. So my thought is this:

For the tournament for when we start then we will 'call fighters' for each weight division. To start we'll have you pick one weight division and have a fighter in said division (this is a device to get you to maybe actually call a LW or WW). Then after the tourney's we'll have our champs.

At this point as in the OP anyone can challenge the champion and use any fighter in that weight class. If you are the champ you always use the fighter you won with until you lose the belt. After you have defended YOUR belt three times, you can start to challenge in another weight class if you desire. Now as far as CAF's go, I think if all CAF's aren't going to be 99's you can use them as well if you wish but I wouldn't want to force anyone to retire their CAF's for sake of achievements etc. etc.

Anyways thats the basic layout I'm thinking about, let me know how you feel about it?

So we can only be in one weight class? I was hoping we could pick a fighter in each class.
