I recently picked up an Android phone and am loving it! My wife, on the other hand, gets annoyed at how much I am on it (this is my first smart phone).

Here are some of my favorite apps:

1) AppBrain (with fast web install) [FREE] - Basically to browse the marketplace from the web and use to
install on your phone:

2) Pocket Empires Online [FREE] - A game where you can build armies, castles, kill monsters, etc:
http://www.appbrain....acle.android.pe

3) Advanced Task Killer [FREE] - Arguably helps to improve battery life by killing apps that you are not
using:
http://www.appbrain....ancedtaskkiller

4) Kindle [FREE] - Amazon e-reader app:
http://www.appbrain....m.amazon.kindle

5) Evernote [FREE] - You can store notes, pictures, voice recording from your phone in a central location
(cloud?). Also can use from a computer to save web pages and images from web pages:

Did not want to limit to 5 apps, wanted it more open.

1) Psx4droid- Playstation One Emulator- This one is coming along. Released recently so still has some work. I have been playing Resident Evil 2 and it runs great.

2) Snesoid- SNES emulator- Self explanatory. Love playing Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct on the go.

3) Homerun Battle 3D- Addictingly fun homerun derby type game. Supports online multiplayer.

4) Logmein Ignition- Remote access into Logmein PC's

5) Fandango- Use to purchase movie tickets and see showtimes

1080i is for douchebags

Adobe Reader - read PDF files on the go
Opera browser - by far the best mobile browser
Pandora - yay music
Scanner radio - Listen to police scanners from all over the world. Includes chat rooms.
Wikidroid - Wikipedia on the go!

and, of course, nesoid and snesoid. Haven't tried psx4droid yet.. not sure how well that would work.

I also use the Opera browser. I like the tabs!
I downloaded the scanner radio, but lost interest when there were no radios for the area I live in.

I respond to this using my droid, with dolphin browser hd, which I prefer. Bonsai Blast is a fun game if you're looking for something to play. tobi defense force has a fee version, and is well worth the cost for full if, if you like tower defense games. I use iheartraduo and pandora for music. You can get some good finance apps (like mint) if you want that on the go.

I just thought I would throw this link to an article about some app sending out premium text messages. I know I am careful with what I download and luckily haven't come across anything like what the article is talking about, but just thought I would share to try and save someone from getting screwed.

Essentials:

Google Voice

Get it setup and you now have free unlimited text messages, a new number for call screening and more. Love it. Doesnt to MMS but i use gmail for that anyway.

Tikl

Free walkie talkie with anyone else who has a Android phone. Works flawlessly, just uses data. Love it.

Bible

Fantastic bible app, tons of translations and very easy to use. Highly recommended.

Chrome to Phone

Only works with 2.2 and up firmware. Works AMAZING! You install the plugin in google chrome browser, then any page you on, just press the button. Instantly the page opens up on your phone. Love it.

Best Android App hands down - Caller ID Faker, this app allows you to change your caller ID, your voice and it records the calls in MP3 format. Nothing else touches this, I've fucked with so many friends with this.
