Looks pretty darn good thus far and I'm digging online co-op. I always loved the offline (obviously) co-op of Sonic 2 where you would race through special stages together on a split screen. It would be neat to see something similar again. I enjoyed Episode I but stopped just short of the end when the final chained bosses just got to be too much of a hassle. There certainly looks to be a lot more visual variety in Episode II.

The split-screen in Sonic 2 was actually competitive, not co-op. It was fun though! And the XBLA version has online competitive multiplayer (still in split-screen). Sonic 2's co-op was local only, with Tails tagging along on the same screen as Sonic.

I agree that the last boss of Sonic 4: Episode I is very annoying.

The split screen Sonic 2 Vs was awesome when you switched all the boxes to Teleport, nothing like swapping places just before the other guy crosses the line :)

Own Sonic 4 Episodes I and II on the same console. You will get Episode Metal for free, play as Metal Sonic in 4 exclusive episodes.

Not sure about the details yet. I'm sure someone will post something more detailed on this soon.

Here's the launch trailer. Shows a few bits and boss battles that weren't in previous trailers.

Played the demo and it was okay, but reviews are ripping it apart.

Which is really surprising me. I personally thought it was well done and a huge improvement over episode 1.

Most reviewers just don't know what they want from a Sonic game it seems. They'll say a Sonic game needs "x" to improve and then they put that in a Sonic game and then it gets complained about.
