I have the original 60gig model.

Customer support said they would fix my system for $129, and replace it with a 160 model for $99.

Groan... Both options stink...

What you would guys suggest?

Depends on if you use it for PS2 games.

you are a pillar of the video game/gaming community.

Thanks you are truly a pillar of the community!

It's because of pillars like you, I remain in this community. Thank you!

Spoken like a true pillar. The community sends its many thanks.

How dare you speak to the pillar of our community that way. If he says you're a closet vita fan he knows what he's talking about.

Yeah, if you have all your stuff backed up, it might be wiser to get a newer system if you don't care about BC. The advancements IIRC have been a smaller CPU and quieter fans.

If you don't have saves on it that are essential or they are backed up, get a slim and don't look back. The backwards compatibility on it sucks anyways unless you're playing RPGS. Fighting games and DDR or those music games are unplayable with BC.

I say, get it fixed at a local place on the cheap, back up all your game saves then sell it at a premium for its BC and buy a new system.

http://manuals.plays...tml

Best bet would be to get a slim and get a ps2 if you wanted to play ps2 games. As many have mentioned the BC isn't that great anyway.

What is the issue with your PS3? YLOD?

If he does NOT have his saves backed up, the Sony solution will NOT help. They basically give you a refurbed console.
