Man, was I silly for biting at 40. I believe this is the fifth deal within the 20-30 range now too.

This was a great CE though. I got my $$ worth out of it and listened to the OST a lot on my ipod. I you don't have or only have the base edition, this is highly recommended.

Tell me about it, I brought the regular edition for $35.
I loved FF XIII, but I hated FF XIII-2.
The endings was just ..........&*$(#
On well...in for one at $25!
(only bc I have a bunch of Amazon GC in my account)

I got lucky at my local GS with this. They sold a complete used edition for $17.99 plus it was B2G1 free so ended up getting it for like $11. I need to listen to some of the soundtrack.

I don't think the ending theme song (New World) is on the soundtrack. You can either import the CD (Charice - Infinity) or you can buy the song on the Japanese iTunes store.

If I didn't already own the set this would be an instant buy for me.

I lost interest in the series after FF X. And only pick the regular version of XIII.

Should I even bother to get this? I'm tempted by the price.

I'd guess yes, or at least hit this price again if you're not in a hurry to play it.

Why must I continue to buy CEs early when I know they will price-drop if I just wait?

I barely beat XIII and I played the hell out of XIII-2 and got the final secret 100% ending. Loved it (the game, not the ending... GRRRRR TO BE CONTINUED IN XIII-3).

FFXIII-2 fixed a lot of the issues that made FFXIII a snooze. Battle system is updated, less pointless end-game grinding, fewer "hallway" levels, branching cool / interesting story line, time travel and alternate reality stuff, ability to replay levels... a bit of a Pokemon aspect to it since you can capture enemy animals to use as team-mates and you can level them, which is actually pretty cool. Side stuff like Chocobo raising & racing also kinda cool.

Bah, now I'm tempted to pick up the DLC just to play this again, even though I heard the DLC didn't actually add much.

Yeah, I enjoyed XIII-2 more than XIII for sure. The pokemon aspect to your party was pretty fun, although I found myself sticking with one monster for the last chunk of the game :)

The soundtrack included is worth it to me - I liked the music quite a bit!

As for the DLC... it's mostly worthless, but I do recommend at least the Lightning story DLC. The Sazh DLC is basically a new card game in the casino, and then you can use him in your party. Same with the Snow DLC. The Mass Effect costumes look pretty neat too

Awesome, thanks op! I had given up waiting for this to hit my price & bought the standard version used this past Sunday from GS. Well within my week return period tho, so it's going back & this has been ordered! :D

I got it when it was $40 too and I feel the same way. The CE isn't bad but man, the game is mediocre or bad on so many levels that it just wasn't worth it.

This will probably go even lower, seeing as how Amazon is still showing more than 999 copies in stock.

Currently playing:

Bought one. I'm still kicking myself for not picking up The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Limited Edition when it was on sale below $20.

Noel's theme and Yuel's theme are two of the best game soundtracks, IMHO.

They are different sets, so no.

The set BB had was just the game with the novella, and a slipcover to hold them all.

This happens with most CE's. There are a few that hold their value, but for the most part they all drop in price.

Besides, if you bought it at release this is almost 10 months later, what did you expect?

Soundtrack sells seperately from Square for $35 so it's worth it just for the 4-disc soundtrack.

Listen to the Checkmate Arcade video game podcast! Also available on ITunes, Stitcher Radio, or YouTube.
