Are used blu-rays typically still in their original cases w/ artwork, or are they hit-and-miss?

I was wondering the same thing, and maybe add "is it plastered with stickers" on the case and/or the actual disc? Anybody have experience with them on sales like this in the past?

Prices are VERY tempting, but I'm a little anal on quality.

Thanks for the heads-up, OP.

Bought Ted, Drive, Moonrise Kingdom, and Dredd. Hope they come in good shape, but hoping for no stickers on the disc is probably asking for too much.
I see that digital codes and slipcovers and stuff are not included, it would be nice to get the DVD (if applicable) for some of them that have an MSRP listed as being the MSRP of the Blu/DVD/Digital version. Pretty sure they don't come with them either.

Thank you so fucking much OP. Bought Looper, Bourne Legacy, and Ted. There are 4 other movies I would really really really like to add to my collection, but I need to wait until I get paid on Thursday. How long do you think these sales prices will last?

Also, is Moonrise Kingdom worth a blind buy? I fucking LOVED Fantastic Mr. Fox, but I haven't seen any other Wes Anderson films.

I bought Pirates of the Caribbean 4 from them on release day. It shipped without the slipcover, but they kept the DVD to rent out to people. It didn't have the slipcover, but it did have the Disney Movie Rewards code.

Does anyone know if they will take the DVDs out of combo packs like Bourne Legacy? I don't care at these prices, but I'm just curious. I've been giving and sometimes selling my spare DVDs to friends at work.

You thanks for this. Picked up Dredd, Savages, Lawless, and Madagascar 3. I wonder if Dredd is the 3d version too...

I'm curious about the 3D versions as well. I am wondering if Piranha DD has the 3D disc included. The way it reads on the item page makes it sound like it does, but I don't know for sure. Has anyone had any experience buying 3D combo packs from FamilyVideo.com?

I'd fucking blind buy Dredd too if I knew it was the 2D/3D combo disc.

Thanks I picked up:
Amazing Spiderman
Savages (blind buy)
Dredd
Total Recall

Trying to decide if anything else on the list is worth a blind buy

Just a heads up, might not be a big deal to some of you, but I figured I'll send out the warning.

Family Video is a rental store. As such, more than likely, you WILL get a case and artwork with your order.

HOWEVER.. do not expect anything more than just the blu ray disc. Even if the item is usually a combo pack, you will get the Blu Ray only.

Since the items are used, they will have a white sticker around the center of the disc, like Redbox does.

Also, as this is a rental store, some movie studios force the stores to buy the rental version of the movie. That means it's JUST the movie, no special features or anything. Off of the top of my head, I know Five Year Engagement and Ted are rental-only versions.

If you're looking for JUST the movie, and the movie only, this is a great deal. For me, I have to have the items complete and with special features.

Also as far as digital copies are concerned, the last few that I have bought from them had the codes in them, even the ones I ordered online.

I'd like to know this too. I have like 2 Family Videos within 5 minutes of me but didn't see them advertising a used sale like they normally do.

They don't match at the store, but I went last night and asked and they price matched the website. So, it doesn't hurt to go and ask.

I think my closest store was actually advertising this. As much as I love having my stuff complete (with DVD and digi-copy), the price looks like enough to offset it. Besides, it's not like I actually use the DVDs, they're more or less just there in case I take them to my parent's house who doesn't have a Blu-ray player.

Dont need to charge more on my credit card but these prices are, pretty good. Would bite on Prometheus, Dredd, Total Recall, and maybe American Reunion.

My order came in today and everything was in great condition. Spiderman and Total Recall even had the slip cover for those people who that matters to.

I might place another order and get Expendables 2 and Flight.

I bought both Ted and Five-Year Engagement at Family Video and they're the retail versions.

Why do you all buy movies? Do you watch it again? Or is it just to let your friends\families borrow them?

I use to buy tons back during DVD era but didn't upgrade to blu-ray due to the price. Now I just buy Disney cartoons for my kids as they watch them over and over. I never rewatch a show\movie once I seen them. Better put my $$$ towards games.

Prices are good but must buy multiple to make shipping worth it.

Because, amazingly, different people have different tastes. Some people actually *GASP* like having physical media.

What a ridiculous thing to post in the dvd forum. Why would you even be in here?

You don't rewatch movies; that's cool.
I do happen to watch movies multiple times. For instance, I bought a DVD and a blu ray copy of the movie Anuvahood after watching it probably 6 times in a two month period via Netflix. I work in a remote location with terrible capped and slow Internet now and have no access to streaming and love the movie so I bought a copy to watch in my room and a copy to watch at work on the computer's DVD-drive.
I bought Generation Kill recently and loved the series enough that I rewatche it again within a month of finishing it.

You would rather put your money towards games you say so it makes me wonder: do you replay games that you like? If so, why?
That would answer your question that you asked people in here. Even though you know what will happen, sometimes the experience is so good that you want to re-experience it again.

Just to chime in, I actually only buy movies that I know I'll want to watch multiple times.

I will buy something I haven't seen but think I would like if it is super-cheap. Like with this sale: I bought Dredd. Don't know if I would like it or rewatch it, but the praise it has gotten leads me to believe I would like it and at this price, I'm not going to pass it up.
I would rather buy it now on the cheap than some months down the line risk seeing it, loving it, and only finding it available for twice the price.
