You're also missing the sensor bar in those shots.

Im still guessing around 39.99 for the cables. Are they supposed to be available at launch?

So I get a AV cable, stand, and AC adapter for $249.99? Sweet! Still cheaper then a PS3!

Wasn't the Wii supposed to also connect up to PC monitors? I know that it's not HD, but I thought that's what I read a while ago.

If they are $39.99, I might think about picking them up. And I don't even have an HD tv. But damn, I saw a huge difference in my xbox when I hooked it up through component. It'll probably be the same for the wii.

Yeah, as unfortunate as it is that they would seem to not be bundled with the system, component is a definite wise move for anyoen with a TV that has component inputs, whether HD or not.

For my LCD TV running plain composite is painful, especially if you can see it otherwise. S-video is a marked improvement over composite as well.

if your tv supports both s-vid and compon, you should spend the extra for the conpon, since you wont have to buy again if you buy an hd tv

I'm pretty sure it doesn't, but someone with more knowledge should step in.

What I would do, if you're planning on getting a wii, is to sell those at a higher than MSRP price, then get the wii component cable. You'll probably have money left over for a nunchuk attachment or possibly a remote.

No, the GC component and S-video cables will not work. They changed to a new type of plug that hooks up to the console.

That sucks, all the more reason for developers to not make their games in 480p and/or widescreen down the line. A huge blow to me, I have two HD tvs, and AV makes that near unplayable, especially if there's reading involved. I'm a huge Nintendo fan, but that $250 price tag keeps looking like more, and more of a rip-off. I mean, what's the point of getting the Wii version of Zelda: TP with unproven controls if you're going to have to buy additional equipment to play it in 480p?

Bah, they should do a hybrid cable like the 360 came with.

Nope. Sell them on ebay while you can. I sold mine for a BIN price of $60 last week. :) Someone bought it within two hours of the auction going live.

I just want more info on them. Price? Will they be available at launch? Available at retail? Only on nintendo.com?

Damn, damn, double damn... But totally expected. So the Wii really costs $300 (I'll spilt the difference between the $39.99 posted here and the $59.99 EB/GS had 3rd party component cables listed for). Doesn't the core 360 come with component cables for $300, or is it only the premium? Of course I'm still getting one, but I wish Nintendo would stop pushing the affordability meme - the 360 is starting to seem like a good value compared to the Wii, especially with game pack-in bundles (Fry's, Costco) and various coupon/sales (Amazon, Overstock) :D. And this comes from a complete MS-hater who has never touched an Xbox in his life.

However, I don't think this will depress 480p in games for the Wii - after all, the GC component cables are impossible to find (at a reasonable price), AND they stopped making GC's that even support them a while back, yet most of the games I get support pro scan, and a good number widescreen as well. (And not just first party games - I was surprised to see Lego Star Wars II supporting both, especially as the first didn't). I'm sure the installed base of GC's with component hooked up is pretty damn small and with the much higher number of HDTV's (ar at least TV's with component inputs) in homes now, a much higher percentage of Wii's will be using them, even if they extort us on the price :bomb:.

Nope, although that's just another reason why the core 360 makes no sense to buy. The Wii should have both and would if I had my way! ;)

Shit. Thanks for the response guys. Do you think I should keep the component cable though for collectability purposes?

Certainly, they'll be gone, simply gone in another year or two. If you wanted to Ebay them now though, you could get a fairly high price for them.

So sell them and make some cash, but know that if you sell them, you'll never see them again.

Cool, OK, well that makes me feel a *bit* better - so the fair comparison between Wii and 360 is $300 to $400 (or $250 to $300 with no component), which still doesn't feel like enough of a discount to me, but I'll live with it .

I'd be tempted to sell my GC component cables, but I think I will still be using the GC even when I have the Wii - either for another TV or simply on the same one to keep the wear and tear off the Wii itself (and that slot-loading drive - those things make me nervous).
