And this gave me a techrection...

hololens still looks interesting, but until they show how it works with something besides minecraft Im not sold yet. Show me taking video windows from a networked pc and blowing them up to 100+in screens in my FOV, playing some other games, etc. Tons of possibilities but Im worried its going to end up a locked down pos that only runs 'holo' apps on its internal processor

A million years late, but a game on my wishlist, Under the Ocean, was pulled from Steam in February. I liked the look of it. Like Lost in Blue (DS game) or something.

http://www.pcgamer.c...m-early-access/

But it's gone. Oh well. I didn't want to buy a game in Early Access, especially after getting burned on Don't Starve. As in, I LOVED Don't Starve early on. Go around, gather resources, build little things, craft things, interesting monsters, la la la.

Then months into development, INSANITY METER AND CREEPY AS SHIT.

Nope nope nope. I like my games delicate and happy and pink and glittery.

Wow had no idea, and under the ocean showed good possibility.  So I figured Id poke around their forums.  Turns out if you flip the copy in your library to the alpha's under the beta menu, he's actually pushing out new builds fairly often.  He just posted in there not too long ago about it

I have a cushy desk job and unregulated internet usage.

Unfortunately, I also have (at work) a shitbox Dell from c.1620 with Win XP on it so the only thing it's good for is hitting forums.  When the key drops come and stuff, I'm out of luck.  It's actually annoying since my job involves looking at large (100mb+) PDF files with multiple layers and this computer chokes on all that stuff.

The key is remote desktop, then your local pc doesnt matter as much as long as you have a good enough pc and connection at home :) Then I get all the joys of key drops and surfing while still being on my linux dev box at work (that and the box runs a kernel/lib thats so old I cant even run chrome on it)

For those of you grabbing watchdogs you'll want "theworse" mod, http://forums.guru3d...ad.php?t=393192

This is the reason so many people were upset. It re-enables everything that ubi disabled, all the graphics effects and things you can usually do on a pc, along without the gimped textures.  The difference with/without is pretty substantial

Thanks for the tip.

I've never even heard of any of those.

yea they are a smaller publisher and basically only doing strategy games. The thing on slitherine is that usually at most they do 50% off sales and usually not that often. So if you have an interest in strategy this is probably the cheapest you'll ever get them

Dying Light worth playing? I'm thinking about picking this up during the Steam Summer Sale.

I enjoyed it. Alot of the missions get a bit samey, but thats for most open world games when they eventually boil down to fetch/kill quests. It also seemed a bit short to me, it didnt really take that long to get through the main story and even most of the side quests. Once your sufficiently leveled up and reach a certain level of weaponry the zombies just become like bushes in the way you have to hack through and the only real fights are at night.

IMHO those are the only real downsides, it was still fun, and really fun in co-op

I half disagree with this.  Yes GTA IV took it's self way too seriously to it's own detriment.  Vice City & San Andreas, while having thematic stories didn't feel all serious bidness.  No clue on GTA V.

One downside of the GTAs for someone who just wants a sandbox is the need to progress the main story to unlock areas of the map.

A lot of that has changed with V. Sure at points it tries to act like its telling some serious story but there are humorous moments, and the online component and missions are not serious at all. Many of the characters are there to provide levity and not be taken seriously. So its much more like the older ones where it can poke fun at itself. Even some of the dialogue pokes fun at how forced dialog is in some of these games.

V also did away with the map unlock stuff, the whole map is unlocked from the beginning

Are these new Star Trek games any good? I am a big fan of ToS, but came late to the party, so I have never tried or heard of any of these.

I dont remember which one but I remember playing one of them (probably 25th anniversary since that looks more familiar) when I was younger.  I do remember enjoying it since I was more in to adventure games back then

I just hope this means ST Armada is coming, those were some good rts games

GOG galaxy now in beta for ALL

http://www.gog.com/galaxy

One feature I wish they'd talk more about is crossplay.  Apparently they are allowing play between both steam and gog versions of games. Interested to see which games added multiplayer as well since the last time I tried the alpha I didnt really see any

I only use Microsoft Security Essentials. And also run Malwarebits from time to time.

same

MSE since it came out is the only one that I have never seen suck up a ridiculous amount of cpu and memory. Always performed better for me than any of the third party solutions.  It stays out of the way and I never know that its actually doing anything besides the occasional taskmgr peek, IMHO how an anti-virus should be

except the majority of games ive tried that were installed via galaxy dont actually open correctly with galaxy.  Either get a missing 'lnk' file error, dosbox immediately exits, or some other variations of quick exits. Looks like it just doesnt setup the environment correctly when it launches

Guess that doesnt matter much if your not trying to play them though :)
