In Topic: Sony Gold Headset $67.36 - Walmart OOS

28 May 2015 - 02:27 AM

Could someone be kind enough to give me their more detailed thoughts on this headset?

Currently I have the wireless/dongle PS3 gold headset with the slide-out mic. I like it, a lot, but sometimes I was experiencing bluetooth disconnects using it on the PS4. Not sure if it was a case of it being a PS3 headset and trying to use it on the PS4 but I was definitely getting disconnects which was irritating.

Has anybody used the PS3 gold headset and can you compare/contrast it to this PS4 headset? Sound quality better/etc?

Thanks!

I have both, the PS3 one can accommodate larger heads and the PS4 is smaller for head size. The PS3 tends to creak with the smallest movement, and my ears tend to sweat more with it. The mic on that one is garbage and mine stopped working almost immediately. The PS4 is lighter, but still maintaining a good build quality. Audio quality is improved, and can support custom EQ settings with the headphone app.

For me:

PS3:

+Fits larger heads

+Better button placement

-Mic

-Creaking

-Audio quality compared to PS4 version

-No custom presets

-Larger USB dongle

PS4

+Better audio

+Usable mic

+Doesn't make head sweat as much

+Custom EQs

+Smaller USB dongle

+Can use with any 3.5mm device (phone, Vita, 3DS, etc)

-Slightly smaller (Only for extra large heads)

-Buttons aren't in the most obvious spots and I often hit the wrong one trying to mess with it

I'd go with the PS4 ones, I have and still use both though.

Might as well buy a cheap plastic batarang toy, scratch it up with a knife and mount it. Save yourself money
