Well I've never played a Pokemon. I guess I try to avoid addictive games that require you to invest a lot of time in them.
As long as he's happy gaming, that's good enough for me.
Shockingly, he's really enjoying the game, Pokemon for the Gameboy. He tells me its very addictive leveling up, and he likes that he can go at any pace.
I guess RPGs are the way to go..
After completing, I'm glad my initial suspicions were way off. This is the game the DS game was meant to be, or at least should have been.
Sure, they share a similar visual and aural aesthetic, but the level design is so much tighter and involved in this one. New Super Mario Bros. DS to me...
I'm trying to get my friend into gaming, before, well before it's too late.
He's never played a game unless you count the occasional solitaire, are there any games for the baby bloomers?
So I bit the bullet after hearing the buzz surrounding this game from a few close friends, and got it.
I gotta say.....it's....GOOD. Yes, it's riddled with mediocre graphics, forgettable tunes, but the most important piece to the formula, the level design, is quite fun.
Honestly the sideways...
It's hard to have a completely fair and balanced debate on that...
To me I don't see SMB3's short and fast paced levels as a shortcoming, conversely I don't see SMW's open-endedness as superfluous. They're just equally good games with different styles of gameplay built on the legendary core...
The launch of this game has compelled me to play NSMB again, just to see if maybe I was too hard on it. It's not bad, but after a couple of minutes of play I get nostalgic for Mario 3 or World and start playing those. The shell suit, wall jumping, and other elements from Mario 64 were a nice...
This is what I feared.
NSMB wasn't a bad game, far from it, but considering I bounced right back to the classics upon completing it really ruined the appeal for me. In other words, I love classic Mario, but it seems the formula has already been perfected years ago.
On the other hand I do...
Thanks for the lengthy impressions. What do you mean when you say, "exactly like the DS version"? I know the art is the same, but is the gameplay any better or different? More difficult perhaps?
This could be a stellar game, but I might hold back to avoid the possibility of feeling like I...
My experiences with shells have been lack luster to say the least. This one could prove to be well made, but as far as I know even the best ones have slight delays in button presses. In a game such as Mario which requires making quick button presses for jumping, that could pose a few problems.
You got me wrong, I'm mostly indifferent towards motion control. My concern is the Wii remote's physicality. As far as sidescrolling games go, the CC can't be beat as the wii remote's buttons feel too small and hard giving way to premature hand cramps. There was never an instance when playing...

It's always depressing watching these poor Christians, from Mormons to Catholics, get oppressed just for following their own respectable religious beliefs, but maybe harming or...
AAAAAAHHHH this looks aaaaaaahsome. I MIGHT get it, Mario is still the best after all these years!
My only complaints are reserved for the extremely cookie cutter graphics and music. Oh and no online(sad face).
