Years ago I had this happen with an online order and they sent me a card in the mail. More recently I had an in-store pickup order canceled by the store, and the balance was restored to the trade card I used.

Double dipping my coupon, I just turned $20 trade credit into $37 cash. I'm not sure how long the values will...
