One thing I will add is that while this is a really stupid way to do dlc, you wouldn't miss much if you watched the epilogue episodes on YouTube. My 3 years of gamepass ultimate expires tomorrow. Is my understanding correct that I can buy 3 years of gold and then upgrade to gamepass ultimate again by paying for 1 month of ultimate?

I found the 1 year for $112 on kinguin.net and the code worked. Never heard of the site before but when I checked my ps+ status, I realized I actually had 7 years left so even with the inflated price, it should be worth it.

It's still fast enough for full ps5 capability without the firmware upgrade so I probably wouldn't risk voiding the warranty.

Mine arrived today. It was manufactured 11/8 so it was before the latest firmware, but my pc has an nvme slot so I went ahead and updated before installing in my ps5.
