Finally did well today, not at a thrift, but at a thrift price. Sniped someone at Gamestop trying to sell their 500GB Xbox One. GS offered her $60 cash, I offered her $64 so she wouldn't say no, and she accepted. Needed a serious cleaning and not as good as Postaboy's GW deal, but for a fully...
I just purchased a Wii from my local thrift complete with box for $10, it also came with an extra Wii remote. Looks like it was barely used, and has the Gamecube connectors. $45 is way too much unless it includes some great games. Some of the mgmt. at thrift stores REALLY don't know what things...
If all you see is minor dust and the console is 100% working, I would not go beyond using a can of compressed air. Don't use the console for hours on end, and keep it well ventilated. I believe the biggest is 1.5tb, someone can correct me if I am wrong. Unless you use some special fighting...
My local thrift had a 50% off Black Friday sale. Picked up a fully working original Xbox 2005 model (Philips drive) and 5 controllers (3 of them were totaled) for $6.50 after discount.
Found a Limited Edition Viva Pinata 360 in decent shape but missing the plastic cover for 99 cents at Goodwill, traded it in towards a used Destiny the Taken King x360 at GS, thankfully the Taken King code was unused, and the game looks pristine. After everything, not bad for 2 bucks and change.
Picked up a new sealed Labtec LT-810SE Pro series headphones from 1999. They come with a different set of ear pads and the 1/4" adapter. While I was looking at them in the store an old man next to me said "they're sealed, probably work". No competition here thankfully. Excellent sound quality...
Got the $5 certificate, bought:
SanDisk Cruzer Edge 16GB $4.99
Lego Star Wars II The Original Trilogy PS2 black label pre-owned $0.99
to go over the $5 cert. before taxes. Game is complete and in great shape BTW.
Picked up a PS2 SCPH-50001 model (I've been looking for this particular one) with power cord only in very good shape with warranty seal 100% intact at my local Salvation Army. Only needed a cleaning and a replacement rubber foot, works great. I paid $9.99. Beats TENTstop any day of the week......
In a related note, as of late 2014 my local Sears has also gotten rid of their (small) games section behind glass. I'm guessing a lot of (If not all) K-mart/Sears stores are gonna go bye-bye.
If Sony doesn't do the "needs to be connected once every 24hrs" and doesn't do the "extra fee for buying a used game" crap Sony will have a winner with the PS4. Gamestop may be bad sometimes, but MS is worse.
