Hmm. Well, like that commenter under the article pointed out, that particular email snippet says delisted or discontinued, and shortages or cancellation, and doesn't explicitly confirm Nintendo abandonment, so I'm not about to give up hope.

So, Little Mac was apparently in stock on Amazon a couple hours ago (along with Pit, for those who are still looking for him) PFFFFFFFFF. Oh well.

I was at nearby Gamestop a couple days ago and they also had a pretty healthy selection of the ones you mentioned as well, although the Samus were relatively scarce compared to the rest, with only two. There weren't any Fox, Mac, Pit, or CF though, unfortunately.
