What joke? This administration has already pushed through massive handouts to unions (in the "stimulus" bill) and changed rules to favor them (work under federal construction contracts of anything more than a small size must now be performed with union labor).

Hospitals could be forced to post prices for competitive reasons. If some hospitals post prices and others don't, where will the price-conscious consumer go? There isn't a huge barrier to entry in the insurance market. If companies got too big and weren't doing a good job, the amount of money...

Not exactly how I would describe it, but yes, that tragic inconsistency was present, and we all know what happened. Of course, that has nothing to do with where our rights come from, but only what happens when government attempts to take them away (in this case successfully for quite a long time).
