I was able to get one yesterday, it was marked at $15. I had been holding out for 4k or un-altered Blu-Ray release, but for $15 having the original trilogy is a no-brainer. I will gladly double-dip if, and when, those ever get released.
How do these deals work? Is it marked at $15 in-store? Or does it only come up when it is scanned? My local stores supposedly have some in-stock so I was going to try for one.
Yeah, I think the membership is a bum deal if you're shopping online-only. It easily pays for itself in-store with the Criterion sales and occasional book or cafe purchases. I will do a fair amount of X-Mas shopping there too.
My haul:
Short Cuts
Tampopo
His Girl Friday
The In-Laws
Asphalt Jungle
In a Lonely Place
Lady Snowblood Complete
Wanted a few others but there were too many other good sales this month.
You can make it average out to about $10-11 per Blu-Ray if you use the right code when signing up. I only have to buy 3 full priced titles to fulfill my obligation, and they often will accept a $24.95 featured title as a commitment. Normally, a Blu-Ray has to be at least $29.95 to qualify. Yeah...
I highly recommend this forum for the latest online codes that can get you the best entry deals into the Club: http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=221740
Most of the DMC exclusives remain that way. I still have to get my Cool Runnings Blu-Ray!
All I need is Stronghold HD and The Last Federation. It's a decent bundle if you don't have anything though. If anyone snags this, I'd take those two off your hands for some Paypal pennies! =)
