Just in case, there's a solution posted on their forums. I couldn't load the game, either and apparently you have to manually download the loader and replace them inside the steam folder.

I bought this when it first came out and had LOTS of fun with it. Bloody Good Time is the better version of The Ship. Unfortunately, both games lack gamers now and I heard the developers are not around to support the game anymore. Unless there are more players/servers now, I wouldn't spend $10...
