Is throwing the letter in the garbage really the way to go? From what I've read, if you get a letter from the "Trolls", you can work out a settlement with them. Otherwise, you'll need to hire an attorney and go to court. Even if it doesn't get to trial, the lawyer fees will most likely exceed...
