Yes they are special black edition HDdvd Players for the xbox 360. Thee black was never sold at retail, they were only given to the MS employees who worked on them.

At a Value Village I found 2 developer only black HD Dvd xbox 360 drives and a pristine MS store copy of Halo 2.
