You have to load up Battlefield BC2 first, then click on vietnam and put the code in from amazon and then your steam copy will have vietnam access. I guess the game is already patched in, it just needed activating. I just did it on my steam copy and it didnt download anything.

My mom & dad both share the same account on Big Fish Games, they both install the same games on separate computers. They buy quite a bit from there too. I know they do share the same games/account, but I don't sit and watch exactly how. http://www.bigfishgames.com

Its still $20.53 on g2play.net. Though it did take them 28 hours to email me my cd-key for steam.
