XBOX 360 Red Ring of Death FAQ: Soon to be known as the Red Dot of Death! :P

Did you try going online to "Register Console" (as if you got a new one), then registering it through that? (support.xbox.com -> on the left tool bar, select Register a Console) You may get a "this console is already registered" message, but they'll let you change the registration info; all...

XBOX 360 Red Ring of Death FAQ: Soon to be known as the Red Dot of Death! :P

Same thing happened to me. I did have the issue number (which I copied from the online repair request), so once I got the "You have no consoles being repaired," I logged in using the Customer Service Number + ZIP Code (rather than using the gamertag), found the new (refurb) console's number...

XBOX 360 Red Ring of Death FAQ: Soon to be known as the Red Dot of Death! :P

Posted on the previous page - I spent about an hour or two trying to get it figured out yesterday. @ MSI: I don't think they need to be hooked up simultaneously (the PC and the Xbox) ... the site says there's a 30 minute window, so you could swap to one and back, theoretically. Probably still...

XBOX 360 Red Ring of Death FAQ: Soon to be known as the Red Dot of Death! :P

I spent a long time trying to figure out how to get my Rock Band licenses onto my new 360, and the directions they give on a sheet of paper (I could scan these and post somewhere, if it would help) don't work. I found this website (http://gamecentralnetwork.net/?id=2626) which very conveniently...

XBOX 360 Red Ring of Death FAQ: Soon to be known as the Red Dot of Death! :P

@menikmati, FaintDeftone: I just got my 360 back - they haven't been sending e-mails or anything as far as I can tell. I got a phone call from UPS's automated system saying it would get dropped off today, and it got dropped off this evening. @ITDEFX: This is important, it should make it into...

XBOX 360 Red Ring of Death FAQ: Soon to be known as the Red Dot of Death! :P

You should be able to get your tracking number by going to http://support.xbox.com, Go to Check Repair Status (on the left, under Console Management), and logging in with your Windows Live ID (should be the same one you used when you setup your Xbox Live Account - was for me at least). In...

XBOX 360 Red Ring of Death FAQ: Soon to be known as the Red Dot of Death! :P

So it's official, the unit I got back is DOA. It worked just long enough for me to do the setup, and now it's giving me the one Red Light error, with an E65. Guess I'm going to call Microsoft tomorrow and be all angry. ... sigh, this is unreasonable. They should not send back consoles that...

XBOX 360 Red Ring of Death FAQ: Soon to be known as the Red Dot of Death! :P

So my 360's back, and appears to be working now ... I dunno, I'm still a bit worried, because when I first re-hooked it to the power supply, it wouldn't turn on; the I took out the power supply an reconnected, and it gave a 1-light red ring; then after restarting it froze after about a minute...

XBOX 360 Red Ring of Death FAQ: Soon to be known as the Red Dot of Death! :P

Mine's in transit back, apparently, and has been for a day or two now. I haven't gotten a tracking number either ... they normally give those out, right? I keep logging into the website to see the status (still in transit to IL, which makes sense, since it was last updated at 1 am this morning...

XBOX 360 Red Ring of Death FAQ: Soon to be known as the Red Dot of Death! :P

ITDEFX, nice FAQ. I do have one suggestion, though. In the "What is the next step" section, you mention calling Microsoft. For those that don't want to deal with the automated system, there is a way to do this online. (Maybe you'd want to use some of this in the FAQ; I didn't see it in...
