But who wants to buy a limited print, collectible game that's already opened and covered in stickers proclaiming it to be "NEW"? They have the reach to be an effective limited print publisher, but they really need to change their sales strategy to court collectors.
I only collect the guides if they have sections on development background or concept art (like you see in most Piggyback and Future Press guides). For most big releases, that means I'm better off just grabbing the eventual "Art of..." book.
I'm sure they'll find a way to milk the guides. First, individual paperback versions. Then individual hardcover versions. Then a complete set with exclusive slipcase
Don't forget LRG is just sitting on at least 1000 Vita copies of Revenge of the Bird King. They were supposed to give it away for free to anyone who bought a full set of LRG Vita titles. At this point, who knows if anyone will ever be able to get their hands on it.
Hence my use of “feels like”. They’ve done a great job of adding new DLC packs based on IP and they probably could’ve kept that going. I just wonder how many people will want to start over with a new $30-50 game 🤷🏻♂️
