The best one for the beginner is any type of deal! Seriously though, if you have more than one control or just want a spare headset, the deals on the 12 month starter kit can't be beat. There's only one caveat; these deals are getting hard to find.

I just got Madden 07 Hall of Fame Edition for 360 for $22.xx off of their website. It was definitely YMMV because you had to almost "win" the product. It is definitely worth checking out.
