FYI, multiple stores all running prices of this a little different. I'm eyeballing Dragon Quest Treasures and Steams with the Deluxe is the same price as the Greenman Gaming which appears to not have that.

If you have an XP account (mine is gold, but it might work for silver and bronze too) it comes out to $26.39 for the Deluxe version at GMG.

Maybe 2 of the HB games look interesting to me. Another meh month that makes me wonder why I keep the sub active. The discount isn't really much benefit these days.

Edit: Also, IOI is up to their typical pricing dramas again with Hitman3. $12 for H3 World of Assassination...Part 1. Aka its just Hitman1 in the H3 engine. Spend another $40+ to get H2 and H3 later. Cheaper to buy the whole thing when it goes on sale.

I'm deep in demos, but DO NOT PLAY Dread Dawn.

There is potentially malicious stuff going on; the game auto runs some files to reconfigure your PC's power settings and might be doing other things. Check the Steam forums for it if you want, but DO NOT PLAY IT.

Edit: Done with demos for the night, here's what follows...

Zero. Recommendations. I was let down by Lysfanga, it just feels hollow and like its just time trial combat puzzles. Something that would be side content in a fuller game. Crown Wars: The Black Prince is fantasy XCOM, so its cool, but the demo shat the bed on me, so I cannot recommend it, either.

The closest two recommends are Deviator, if you need knock-off, harder Hollow Knight; or you have Vendir: Plague of Lies, which started off as a mobile game, but is deep and kinda like a fantasy XCOM with JRPG combat. Needs UI improvements.

I would sooner recommend you go back and play the previous games I recommended in my last post than any of these, though.

Soulmask is okay. Basic survival mechanics. UI and tech tree is a bit vague and crafting is odd. Graphics look pretty good for my older hardware.

Anyone tried Homeworld3 yet? Lots of complaints about the camera controls and UI in general.

I played Dread Spawn. Controlled like poop and felt pointless. Sad to see it has extra garbo running too. I'll be sure to do a virus/malware scan on my system. This demo fest is feeling extremely underwhelming to me. I'm on the E games likely to make it to the I or something today. Of this group only Biomorph and #Blud would be games I get pretty cheap. Everything else was okay enough or just bad or mediocore. Hopefully my next set will be better.

Abathor - 14 minutes completed first world. This one is an arcade feeling 2D action game where you jump around and slash things collecting ore to buy upgrades and using a basic attack, a stronger attack and a dodge roll to finish levels. You also can collect powerups as well. This is a pretty okay game although the graphics and sound were pretty average. It controlled okay with the Series X controller, and only felt slightly floaty. I would like only get it bundled, but it was very playable. 6/10

Aeruta – 15 minutes. This one is a decently well animated and sounding 2D action platformer where you go around collecting materials by beating monsters and hitting some structures. This kind of feels like a Maple Story. It controlled okay enough with the Series X controller but the dodging never felt well. Enemies also have a lot of HP. It felt pretty standard and not really my type of game, though it felt decently high quality. 6/10

Aestik – 5 minutes. This one feels like a Hollow Knight 2D platformer. It doesn’t control well with the Series X controller. For me it kept pushing me forward taking damage and didn’t feel very clean on jumps and attacks. The graphics were nice and the music was alright. The pushing and sometimes weird hit boxes caused me to quit it. This needs polishing, but has potential as a decent Metroidvania. 4.5/10

Akumi Wars – 4 minutes. This one felt like an old Flash animation RPG with so-so English voice acting, cute old school graphics and kind of horrible feeling turn based combat. The UI is atrocious. I couldn’t play this one for long though I did like the graphics. 4.5/10

Alruna and the Necro-Industrialists – 4 minutes. Another decent looking but bad feeling 2D platformer. This one kind of looks like Castlevania with a plant lady. It feels very floaty with a Series X controller and just didn’t feel great to play. I also have to say that the music and sound are just horrible sounding. Sounds for things are very loud, and the music just blares on. 4/10

Always in Mind – 34 minutes completed 2 areas. This is a really janky, confusing, artsy 3D platformer with a story about a kid going in the mind of his grandpa. It is done from some ball thing you’re carrying around. This is a really weird controlling game with some decent controls on the Series X controller and also feeling very janky for platforming, kicking, and utilizing this big fire ball, which is the thing helping you. It had an interesting enough story and it feels like it’s about alzheimer’s as I believe the grandpa is losing memories, which is why we’re looking at them now in this realm. It’s a collectathon with puzzles and seems interesting. The voice acting, graphics (performance got janky now and then), characters and story seem good, but I would only get this bundled. Lots of potential here. 6.5/10

Antipaint – 5 minutes. This is kind of a Brotato clone but you play as brush on a smaller plane of a canvas and have to kill things. It has a strange ska soundtrack, alright enough graphics and controlled decently well with the Series X controller. Overall it played well, but didn’t excite me much. Would likely only get bundled. 6/10

Arinn – 4 minutes. This one is a single scene 2D platformer similar to Celeste. It has decent pixel graphics, okay music, and somewhat glaring sound especially at the end of each level. It controls okay enough with the Series X controller. It starting losing me when I couldn’t do the dash across a big gap well and died about 20 times. Decent enough, but the controls still feel a bit loose. 5.5/10

Artifact Hunter – 65 minutes supposedly. I don’t think I played that long. This one is similar to Rogue:Genesia I believe it is where it’s a Vampire Survivors like game where you go node to node facing groups of enemies. You gather loot in the form of artifacts and can have skills and spells. You also have a dodge and a super move. It felt a bit simple looking, sounding and feeling. Overall, it was a clean enough game, but didn’t provide much new. It still was neat for skills stacking (like if a skill is pierce it gives 1 to that skill unlocking passives). Would only get bundled. 6/10

AWAKEN - Astral Blade – 26 minutes defeated first boss. This one is a 2D very decent looking Metroidvania. You play some girl who can fight and explore areas to help people. The controls are surprisingly decent and you get some combo strings. The jumping can be a bit iffy, as is the dodging, but you can get used to it. This felt very decent and played well enough that it would be great to get it bundled. 6.5/10

Awita: Journey of Hope – 4 minutes. Another 2D platformer Metroidvania with decent enough graphics. It’s pretty generic, but the one thing that felt off were some of the animations (attacking and blocking mainly) as it felt late to put up my shield and the main attack feels a bit loose. Nothing terrible feeling, but would only get bundled. 5.5/10

Baladins – 7 minutes. This one is a kind of board game looking RPG where you move around a board in cutout paper looking style graphics. The characters seem silly and the art is nice. I was getting bored already, but this may be fun to play with friends. It seemed to mainly consist of go to this place on the board, do something for a quest, and move to another place for a quest. I could see potential, but I didn’t see too much fun in it so far. 5.5/10

Bears in Space – 8 minutes. This one is an FPS where you play a space bear shooting and beating up robots. Honestly the humor was lost on me with character being quirky looking and sounding but not too funny. The shooting was very loose and the graphics were just OK. Nothing too amazing here other than the quirkiness. 5.5/10

Beserk Boy – About 15 minutes completed 1 level. I think I played this before but it’s a 2D Mega Man inspired action platformer where the main gimmick is rushing around and then tagging enemies of which you can shock them. It controls well enough and looks good other than the graphics getting very blurry when you’re moving around high speed. It hurt my eyes so I had to concentrate on the area around the main character. The music is excellent too. This seems like quality, but that flaw for the movement of graphics makes me dislike it more than I would based on the gameplay. I would get it bundled. 6/10

Biomorph – Completed 1 area including boss. This one is another 2D platformer Metroidvania game. This one has excellent graphics, pretty cool animated sequences, decent action though it can feel a bit floaty for dodging and a special mechanic where you can defeat enemies and then take over their body to use their abilities in battle and exploring. Honestly it’s probably more like Hollow Knight, as these enemies are kind of HP sponges. This has been of the better Metroidvania’s I’ve tried so far in the fest. I would get this one on sale or bundled. 7.5/10

Black Dragon Mage – 5 minutes. This one is a Vampire Survivors like though it feels a lot more active for skills and movement as there is a dash and you have to use keys to use skills. It feels alright, looks basic but nice, and controls ok, but doesn’t feel too clean. It is not optimized at all for wide screen monitors and I was missing information on the side no matter what resolution I did. It was still solid enough. 6/10

#BLUD – 20 minutes. This one is an 2D action adventure (emphasis on adventure) game where you play a girl and go around and can punch stuff and find stuff and solve puzzles. It has excellent graphics and music. The controls are OK enough with the Series X controller. The dodging is hard to time, but the rest of it other than some strange animations (there is a lot) are decent. There is a lot of talking too, which provides a lot of character, but also a lot of fluff. Honestly this one is really cool and would be excellent bundled or on sale. 7.5/10

Bubblegum Zombie Hunter – 8 minutes. This one is a homage to Zombies Ate My Neighbors but doesn’t play anywhere near as well. The graphics are decent, it really needs a map for finding the gasoline cans needed to go on, and the powerups are not well explained. It’s all very average, but it has potential. The level I played feels too open and free and should be a little more contained. I lost interest before I found the last 2 gasoline cans I needed. 6/10

Caesar’s Revenge – 2 minutes. This one is a weird FPS taking place during roman times with very unclear graphics, heavy metal music and a lot of bobbing around. This one feels very unpolished though I like the idea of an FPS action game thing during the Roman times. 4.5/10

Calmed by the Dark Shin Neon – 1 minute. Probably one of the jankiest 2.5D beat em up games ever. This felt not complete or playable at all. 3/10

Cast Out Colony – 3 minutes. This one is another Vampire Survivor like. The UI is not super clear. Everything looks quaint and alright. You build up your settlement and enemies attack at night. You get exp then and can level up abilities and such. It played OK, but wasn’t amazing. I do hope the base building is good stuff, as that can help it distance itself from other similar games. 5.5/10

Champion Shift – 13 minutes. Yet another Vampire Survivors like but this one feels a little like Diablo where you go around in area completing missions, turning into a car (lol) and beating up enemies. It controls and looks OK, although driving is pretty loose. This felt super repetitive already, but it had something a little unique in the genre. Also the heroes are based off of Chinese myth (the starting player is Wukong). 6/10

Children of the Sun – 8 minutes. This one is a really weird stylized sniper simulator thing where the thing is to shoot and then combo off of the first shot between people and obstacles to get everyone in one hit. It’s kind of like a puzzle and feels extremely one dimensional, but was kind of fun. This is original, but not really for me. The movement with the mouse is also a little strange. 6/10

Cleanup Crew – 2 minutes. Yet another Vampire Suvivor like. This one feels OK while you shoot stuff like mushrooms and gather upgrades from chests. It also has a dodge but feels a little weird in the gunplay itself. Not too exciting for sure. 5.5/10

Clonizer – 2 minutes. This is an exploration rogue lite with cards. I created 2 clones and couldn’t for the life of me move them to explore so I stopped the game. The graphics were nice. 5/10

Cosmopirates – 4 minutes. This one was a pretty simple rogue like where you get cards and move around clumsily in space with the mouse and get in simple battles. It wasn’t very exciting. I think it would have been better with the general choose a node style gameplay. 5/10

Crow Country – 14 minutes. A kind of slow moving very bad aiming with the controller old school looking horror game. This is a throwback and looks cool enough but is so janky right now. It also took a lot of bullets to take down one robot thing. Not an awesome game, but has potential for sure. 5.5/10

Crypt Custodian – 13 minutes. This one is a kind of Legend of Zelda adventure game about a place of going after the bird passed away. It goes on adventure collecting coal or something and upgrading stuff trying to get keys to unlock areas. Honestly the enemies have maybe a smidge too much HP, but it controls nicely with the Series X controller, has great graphics and music and seemed to be pretty fun. Lots of potential. 6.5/10

Cybertrash STATYX – 11 minutes. This one is a 2D run n gun game. It has decent graphics, good music and probably too much story in the beginning with lots of dialogue I skipped through. The movement is a little weird and the shooting doesn’t feel as clean as something like Contra or Metal Slug. This one feels a bit more style over substance and I ended up dying quickly. Not for me at all. 5.5/10

Daemon Masquerade – About 10 minutes. I played this one before and pretty much you get logical puzzles and have to solve them Professor Layton style except you pin things to show how you got the conclusion. The UI is a mess, it’s so weird in the art and all, although some is great like the Doctor Seuss book parody. The story makes no sense and I beat the beginning puzzles in this demo. I would only get it bundled, but it’s pretty original story wise at least. 6/10

DaemonClaw: Origins of Nnar – 2 minutes. A nice looking 2D arcade like action brawler with extremely janky controls with enemies who take to many hits. This one feels like a mess other than the looks. If the gameplay can be a lot less floaty, it can be alright. 4/10

Deadshot – 1 minute. Very, very basic FPS. Doesn’t control or look well and may be an asset flip. 3/10

Demon Loop – 2 minutes. This one is a good around the board getting energy and building up stuff board game like game. You use cards to move and get more stuff. I got bored right away, but there might be more to this game after the very slow tutorial. Reminds me of a less exciting Culdcept Revolt, and I wasn’t a huge fan of that one either. The graphics were nice at least. 5/10

DICEOMANCER – 4 minutes. This is a very basic looking, kind of super buggy deck building game. It’s like Slay the Spire and looks cartoony enough. The second guy I couldn’t damage and I got an error and I couldn’t produce mana to make stuff to kill it. Likely a bit too simple overall. 4/10

Diets & Deities – 3 minutes. This one is a quirky rhythm game about cooking. The rhythm doesn’t feel very good though in tune with the music. The graphics are nice. 4.5/10

Dragon Eclipse – 4 minutes. This one is kind of a deck building rogue lite where you have 3 monsters and they all do things. Some of the cards are very random. This one was okay but felt very simple. I would get it only in a cheap bundle. 5/10

Dream Tactics – 6 minutes. This one is a go around the map quirky turn-based strategy game. The graphics are tiny for this one. The character portraits are good enough and the card-based system is ok kind of like slay the spire. Overall, it’s something that would be OK in a bundle, but may be a bit too simple. 6/10

Duck Detective: The Secret Salami – 11 minutes. This one is a papercraft looking duck detective game. I can’t tell on the voice acting if it’s AI enhanced or something, but it sounds a bit off. You have to deduce clues and fill in the blanks like that other detective game something of the Golden Idol I believe. The music sounded detective like and the interface was OK enough with the mouse. Overall, I wasn’t crazy about this, but in a cheap bundle it would be fine. It has some potential, but feels a little simple. 6/10

Emberbane – 22 minutes. This one is a 2D Metroidvania game about some girl who was thrown in a pit and adventures after that. You have some flame whip and the graphics and music are good. The enemies are a little HP spongey requiring multiple hits even for basic enemies. I liked the quality in this one, and the controls were decent, but I wasn’t enthralled either. Would make for a decent bundle game though. 6.5/10

More Steamfest impression up through M now. Note that I'm skipping over adventure games/visual novels until likely Saturday or so as they take more time to see what they're made of. I am playing the 18+ gameplay games as they show what they are early enough to make a quick take on it.

This was a much stronger set of games than my first one. First of all it has my first must recommend for action rogue lite fans in Mullet Mad Jack. This was very fun and is worth playing by most who don't mind some violence. Footgun: Underground, The Land Beneath Us, Letifer, and Lost Twins 2 also got good grades from me. I'm also mentioning Islands of Insight as it's highly original (supposed many logical puzzles in an online 3D world) although the puzzles are just okay from me. Enjoy the thoughts and hope it helps you navigate the Steam Fest a bit.

Entropy Raiders – 9 minutes. Another Vampire Survivors like though this one has decent graphics, okay graphics, co-op (didn’t test) and has some goals to work towards. The choosing of skills in game with the controller is slow and shouldn’t act like a mouse cursor. This one has potential and feels polished, but also just wasn’t too exciting. 6.5/10

Footgun: Underground – 17 minutes completed first area. This one kind of reminds me of Revita where you play a 2D action platformer rogue lite but instead of shooting you kick balls. This is kind of fun and looks OK. It can feel a little repetitive, but there is some heart here. If playing the demo the left trigger dribbles your ball which is important to get it into the air and be more accurate in kicks. It’s important for hitting airborne targets. I would get this bundled and liked it enough to get it cheaper on sale. The graphics and sounds are also pretty decent. 7/10

Gatekeeper – 8 minutes completed 2 areas. This is another Vampire Survivors like but it’s more active like a Hades. It has co-op (not tested), looks and plays decent enough and has little quests in the area to get abilities and also move on to the next area. Honestly this one felt decently high quality, played well on the keyboard with the mouse, and seemed original enough. Not my type of game totally, but very decent. 6.5/10

Gates of Yomi – 4 minutes. Another Vampire Survivors like in Feudal Japan I believe where you’re fighting yokai. This game controls alright with the keyboard and feels hard as there is a dodge button, but the monsters move fast. This looks alright (some decent pixel art) and sounds alright. It’s nothing special, but would be fine bundled. 6/10

The Girl Who Kicked A Rabbit. 5 minutes completed a few battles. This one is an RPG go around node style fighting rabbits. It played well enough although felt a little grindy for it’s crafting system in battle. Overall, it looked good, sounded decent including a rocking soundtrack, and was simple but nice. Nothing crazy that I wouldn’t mind bundled. 6.5/10

Guardians of Eden – 25 minutes. This one is a pretty active hentai tower defense X visual novel game. The story elements are OK enough as are the graphics. The tower defense is OK, but a bit boring and maybe a bit too active. Overall it’s not terrible, but not amazing. I would get it in a bundle for sure. 6/10

Guild of Rogues – 31 minutes completed a run. This is an auto attacker on a fixed board with enemies counting down to attack and your own creatures attacking and counting down abilities every turn. It’s almost too straightforward for its own good. It looks, sounds and plays simply. It’s an okay game, but I would probably only get it bundled. 6/10

Helskate – 10 minutes. This one is a cross between Tony Hawk and Devil May Cry. You go around on a board or not and have a sword for slashing. It is a little unpolished, but has some cool ideas. I think the fighting is a little half baked though. 6/10

Ingression – 7 minutes. This is another challenging 2D platformer which controls ok with the Series X controller. There is a futuristic story and portals, but they are sometimes very confusing to navigate. The graphics are simple but nice. 6/10

Islands of Insight – 12 minutes. This one is a third person 3D platformer puzzle game where you go around an online world (may work offline not tested) doing logic puzzles earning XP and maybe interacting with others. Honestly the graphics were pretty nice, and the game ran well enough once loaded, in which it took a while to load. A cool concept but these basic puzzles (claims to have 10,000+) will get old quickly. A very neat idea, with an average execution. 6.5/10

Kakuriyo Village ~Moratorium of Adolescence~ - 4 minutes. Some RPGMaker game cross visual novel about people getting lost and separated by being men and women. When the main man and women meet, they get lost and are led to a village. I’m not sure much more of the story as I saw enough. The graphics are average and honestly RPGMaker games really need to be retired. This would work much better as a simple visual novel. 5/10

Kingsgrave – 15 minutes. This one is 2D Zelda style game where you gather ingredients as a king and build up a village and unlock stuff and solve some puzzles. It feels OK although the material grind is real. The music, controls with the Series X controller, and story and all were fine. It played decently and could be fun. Just nothing exciting. 6.5/10

Konsui Fighter – 10 minutes. This one is one on one 2D fighting game. It plays a little like Street fighter. The graphics are kind of cool and everyone has voice and it also has some decent music. It plays kind of jankily on the Series X controller, but it wasn’t terrible and I won 2 fights barely. The third kicked my butt so badly. Only would get this one bundled. 5.5/10

The Land Beneath Us – 25 minutes. This one is a 2D turn based rogue like game where you have little arenas with enemies and must attack and dodge attacks somewhat Necrodancer style, but there is no rhythm. The graphics are really good, the story is hokey, and the gameplay itself is interesting. Each of your cardinal directions can have a weapon set to it and when you move left your left weapon activates. Weapons have different directions so having 4 weapons can be weird. Or you can be like I did and have the same weapon every direction. I’m not sure this adds a lot, but it’s interesting. You also a have a limited place for relics. Overall, this is a pretty good quality game and seemed polished and decently fun. I would get it bundled or on sale for cheap. 7/10

Letifer – 18 minutes. This one is another Vampire Survivor like, but this one has a bit more going for it. First of all, the graphics are nice and you play a half demon half human lady who is getting revenge. You shoot guns in this one and have somewhat boring upgraded on level up. It all is clean and it’s hard. Your gun doesn’t shoot very fast, so it requires some strategy even to beat the basic level. This one feels like quality and even has a story. 7/10

Little Survivors – 2 minutes. This a mini arena action game where you whistle your dog to kill skeletons and stuff. It is an alpha and feels so janky. The dogs get stuck on trees all the time and just act weird. This one needs so much work. 4/10

Lost Twins 2 – 9 minutes. This one is a 2D platforming puzzle game where you control 2 people switching between them collecting phoenix feathers to finish a level. You also can move parts of the level to get around and solve more puzzles. It looks really nice, has relaxing music, and controls well with the Series X controller. This is a perfect bundle game and worth it on sale for fans of puzzle platformers. A nice quality to this one. 7.5/10

Luna’s Night – 5 minutes. This one is basic 2D platforming action-adventure game where you play a girl with a bow and go around exploring. I got to a part where I had to shoot targets and got bored. Nothing exciting although the graphics were quite nice. 5.5/10

Lysfanga: The Time Shift Warrior – 9 minutes completed 3 timed challenges. In this one you play kind of like a Hades like game where you are thrown in arenas and have to fight enemies and beat them all to move on. In this though you can only do so much before this purple thing blows up. You can rewind a few times in the arena and the enemies you defeated before are defeated by your previous attempts. It’s kind of a neat concept and feels and plays decently although a bit shallow in fighting. It is another optimal bundle game or a good sale game as it is fun enough and kind of puzzle like and unique. The graphics are small but OK and the sound and music are good. Not my style of game, but it’s a solid one. 6.5/10

Mareld – 5 minutes. This one is a rogue like where you have cards and can combine them with your character to craft and do things. You’re meant to survive after a plane crash and figure out where to go and what to do. This one is alright and has a story and isn’t optimized for wide screens. Overall it was playable, but a little rough. Not too bad though. 6/10

Mark of the Deep – 6 minutes. This one is kind of a Tunic like 2D action-adventure game where you fight enemies souls style and explore the castle thing. It is kind of janky in controls and is not that easy to dodge. It needed a little bit of tuning up, but the potential is there. 5.5/10

Menace From the Deep – 10 minutes. This one is a detective Slay the Spire like with decent graphics, setting up cards (like events) before a big boss, and just okay playing. It looks really nice, has a decent enough story and played OK. I would get this bundled, but it feels like it’s missing a little something. 6.5/10

Mendacium – 7 minutes. This one is another 2D Metroidvania game with nice enough graphics and all. It doesn’t really explain much after the beginning show how moves work. I even got a power up and didn’t even know what it did. It feels like it’s kind of trying to look and be like Hollow Knight, but it is still OK. Not amazing, and the lack of direction got to me a bit. There is some decent music here as well. 6.5/10

Mole Maiden – 18 minutes. It’s kind of weird there are two drilling games in the Steam Fest. In this one it’s a Metroidvania where you can burrow and move around with your drill. This one doesn’t feel as cleaning moving drilling as the other game I tried. This is still pretty solid with good graphics, decent controls with the Series X controller and a good sense of exploration. I wasn’t amazed, but it was high quality. 6.5/10

Moon’s Creed – 3 minutes. This one is a Slay the Spire like where there are moon phases and it changes cards. There was like no sound, the graphics were alright, and so little was explained. It needs a lot of work though there could be a good groundwork here. 5/10

Mullet Mad Jack – 38 minutes. Now this is an awesome rogue lite. This one is an arcade like amazing looking 80s anime infused go kicking and shooting down a bunch of corridors till you get to the end game. You play a game who has an app that lets him live in the game for 10 seconds. This goes up when you kill enemies, drink sodas, and do finishing move. You have to move very quickly through the levels to get to the end while still being alive. At the end of each level, you get a choice of 3 upgrades which are usually one weapon and 2 other upgrades. This is very arcade and quick and honestly is a better kicker first person game than that Boot Kicker which I don’t think is out yet. The music and sounds are awesome and the action is just super frantic. You really want a good keyboard and mouse for this. I can see it working alright with the controller, but it feels natural in this control mode. The main flaws are sometimes the lack of good random generation particularly for end of level areas and enemy variety. This is super high quality and just super fun. Everyone should try this demo if they like action games. I will be getting it on release. 9/10

I'll post more demo feedback later, but I love that nitrosmob and I are finding different games to play. I have little overlap with them. I will have to try Mullet MadJack.

My microcenter had another clearance 3090 ti randomly available today. $367 for this strix card. Linking just in case someone else's store happens to have one. Hoping it's in decent condition when I make the drive to pick it up this weekend. No vram comments from toasters.

None around here (Cambridge, MA Microcenter). Why couldn't I find a 24gb VRAM Nvidia RTX 3090 Ti here? :(

I think I have 750w on my PC. Would I need more total watts on PSU for a 3090 Ti?
Rest of PC - 10700KF, 16gb RAM, numerous SSD's and HDD's, RTX 3070 with 8gb VRAM, W10.

Looks like a good deal too, given how pricey GPU's are.

But, I already got 8gb VRAM 3070 - so 10gb VRAM isn't much of an increase there.

The 24gb VRAM 3090 looks way more attractive to me - 2 notches up in back-2 numbers (3090 Ti over 3070) for me and around 3x's amount of VRAM. [drools over 3x's more VRAM]

We always find lots of different demos between us, but that's cool. I generally download whatever looks interesting starting from the top of the list and go down the WHOLE list. It takes forever and Steam runs like poop for hours afterwards generally good by the first night. I go down in alphabetical order until we get near the end of the list and then I prioritize what's left in my list. I also check out your comments and sometimes download those demos as well to try out more of the quality games. There is a lot of meh and bad games in the fest since Steam doesn't cultivate anything. I love the fests though and trying out many demos helps me prepare for future bundles of which many of the games become bundled. I try not to play a game too much unless I'm having so much fun because there are so many demos. Once I feel I have an idea of a demo I'll stop it there and then. Helps me to get through everything. Love all the impressions/reviews and thoughts people give on the forums period. I trust most people's thoughts here over some reviewers.

Finally played Eiyuden Chronicle Rising after buying last year.

It's a fun 2d side scrolling beat'mup RPG. Took about 15-16 hours to get all the achievements. About 12 to just beat the story.
I guess it's a prequel of sorts to Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes, which seems to be a Suikoden clone. I don't know if I'm sadder the full game/sequel/whatever isn't like Rising, or happier that it's like Suikoden.
I do need to find some more games like Rising.

I'm on the S games from the Demofest. Expect me to be done with the non visual novel/narrative/adventure games by tonight. Have about 15 or so more demos not in those categories. About 20 more demos from those categories I believe haha. I likely wont play them all long.

Earthless is another card game. Space based one from the guys who are doing Homeworld3. Definately is in alpha stages. Game bugged out on final boss fight but it has potential.

Breachway is also a space card game, played it last year and it comes out in 5 weeks. Worth a look, mixes in a card game with some FTL type concepts.

Stormgate is a Warcraft3/SC2 type rts. Meh, maybe? Its okay. I lasted one quick game vs AI that was too brain dead.

Out of Action: Ghost in the Shell/cyberpunk anime type shooter with 90s looks. Unforgiving, kinda janky controls and movement but potential for fun at least. Bots are tough. Major upside, offline mode for single player with separate progression from MP.

Millennia: 1 hour for 60 turns of a demo. Definitely has potential. Hex based but I was getting Civ4 vibes from it. Combat looks goofy but you can speed it up. Publisher is Paradox though. DLC madness to be expected.

Much better batch on the back 3/5s~ish of demos I've played. I still have 24 to go, which I may or may not get done by the weekend.

Hauntii got my spouse's approval, as well, for what the helps. Likely the strongest secondary recommendation you can get from a picky gamer.

Not as many JRPG/SRPG recommendations, so far, outside of my first batch. Beloved Rapture and Pyrene are still strong recommendations, and I think Vendir: Plague of Lies will be a sleeper hit.

I have finished through most of the action games leaving a lot of visual novels/adventure games/narrative games/detective games that require some time and total up to 50 games (I'll likely get through half of these). The best of this lot was a deck building rouge lite Zet Zillions. It was quirky, weird, strange looking and had some relatively innovative gameplay. I liked it quite a bit, but do note some of the things are more adult oriented (weird muscle guys). Of the set Aden, Sword of Convallaria (afraid of it being F2P and the gameplay is a little lacking, but everything else is decent), Tales of Kenzera™: ZAU (quality Metroidvania with a unique theme of shamanism), Tendryll (quality feeling turn based card game rogue lite), and Zero Division (somewhat unique feeling deck building rogue lite). Quite a few almost there games where they could go up to be decent games at least (7/10 in my book). I will have to see the games recommended by others that I may have missed.

Aden – 12 minutes completed 2 battles. This one is a strange doujin game where you play a girl who falls on a plane I think and then has slapping battles with a girl. I’m pretty sure the first level is an homage to the slapstick comedy popular in Japan. You dodge attacks (bullets and stuff) to do this running attack thing until the opponent is down. Then it turns into a rhythm game which can be tough which if you complete damages the opponent and gets to the next phase, or ends the battle. Then you get some story, go into the next level, fight enemies weirdly beat em up style, and then fight a boss and do it again. It’s quirky and a bit unoptimized, but it was fun. If it is really cheap or bundled, I’ll pick it up. 7/10

DEVIATOR – 24 minutes. This one is another Metroidvania with graphics heavily inspired by Hollow Knight. The gameplay is a bit too, but I haven’t played Hollow Knight much. This one uses a lot of top of the controller (LB/RB) for shield/parrying and attacking which makes your hands feel a little weird. So much of this game is based on the parrying and eventually dodging system. Enemies have masses of HP sometimes especially bosses. It is Souls like as the bosses are quite hard and when you die you leave a grave you need to attack a few times to get your souls back. Overall, I feel this a pretty good one with a decent soundtrack as well. The controls take some getting used to and when the action gets intense the game lags a tiny bit making perfect parrying/dodging tough. I would get this relatively cheap on sale or bundled. 6.5/10

Lovey-Dovey Lockdown – 8 minutes finished demo. This is a weird simulation/visual novel about a guy who is working low on the totem pole under a movie director. He sees a girl he had a crush on in college and they talk and then God forces them in a room and they can only leave if they make love. You can only miss work three times and it’s game over. In the room you do repetitive actions like massaging to get love points and eventually do stuff to get out of the room. I’m sure over time (it only has one day in the demo) you get more interesting actions and dialogue. This one has okay Chinese voice overs and very decent animated sprites and good backgrounds. A little meh for a gameplay 18+ game overall, but there is some quality here. 6/10

Manifest Destiny – 4 minutes. Ultra jank go around creating a vampire simple looking RPG action game thing where your demons take over your mind in failure and then your run away from some red demons telling you to hug them. The controls by this point on the keyboard where a bit hard to manage and I was done with the demo. Good intentions in the game, but not extremely playable. 4/10

Nerd Survivors – 23 minutes. Yet another Vampire Survivors like. This stars guys from some nerd thing. The graphics are nice and the music is ok as well. The starting guy has a trash weapon and I hate one thing specifically about this game. In these games you usually level up and get more weapons, but here they and their level upgrades come from chests, in which there are two at the beginning of the game and bosses/events spawn more. This leaves generic level ups to be very generic such as more HP, critical chance, speed, blah blah blah. Also, the difficulty is not balanced at all. You get a lot of spawns of enemies at every event and it’s hard to whittle them down even with a well upgraded area weapon. This has a lot of potential and has polish, but it isn’t fun to play. I’ll keep an eye on it, but for now it’s pretty meh. 6.5/10

Never Grave: The Witch and The Curse – 12 minutes. This one is a Metroidvania, but more like Dead Souls or Hollow Knight. This one has nice enough graphics but next to no direction. The controls are fine with the Series X controller as well. This had zero story and I believe is randomized every run. It feels too generic feeling to have the random every run type gameplay. It really should have likely been a fixed map one. It feels OK enough to get in a bundle, but I just was getting bored already. 6/10

NIMRODS: GunCraft Survivor – 31 minutes. Yet another Vampire Survivors like. This one has guns, decent graphics, okay sounds and an okay difficulty. The upgrades come down in air drops and contain mods to your gun which also mod your character. It makes things a bit less fun, but it is cool to see the guns develop. I also feel the pool of stuff is a bit small, but I had some fun. This would likely be only a bundle game, but it’s very decent. 6/10

Pacific Drive – 13 minutes. This one is a walking/driving simulator after weird stuff happens. Feels pretty laid back, okay looking and the driving on the Series X controller is slightly clunky. I don’t know what to think of this, but it seems like a prime bundle game. 6/10

Pampas & Selene: The Maze of Demons – 6 minutes. An old school 2D platforming action game where you explore a castle as 2 characters who you can change between. There is very little guidance although it does give hints when you get things. I didn’t like this much, but it looked really nice and played decently with the Series X controller. 5.5/10

Parry Nightmare – 8 minutes. This one is yet another Vampire Survivors like except you play some eyeball thing in a nightmare world where you must parry and your friend comes over and lasers them. The goal in the level I played was to get to 100% light. It is one of the more active of these type of games as the parrying is done when your circle lights up and enemies are in it. The level and the scene afterwards had okay enough graphics, and the music from the level sounded like a copyright infringing version of Never Had a Friend Like Me from Aladdin. Once the level is done you get your sleeping scene where you can awkwardly with the controller click on things till you get another nightmare (level) and do it again. I like this has a story, but it wasn’t crazy fun. I’m guessing there will be more weapons or powers later one as this was a bit too simple as it is. Also, this wasn’t optimized for wide screens as a part of the screen was cut off at the top. 5.5/10

Perfect Dice – 15 minutes. This one is a strange almost not rolling dice game where you try to manipulate rolls with special dice. It had decent graphics and all but the battle system is confusing. I like the music as well. This has some potential, but the main system is just not as intuitive other than things activating by being part of your die pool. 6/10

Phosfi – 6 minutes. Yet another 2D Metroidvania. This one has decent graphics, controls and sounds and music. I thought the fighting in it was decent. Overall, I felt this was a very clean polished game just lacking a little bit of the oomph. It still would be great bundled. 6.5/10

Plushie From the Sky – 4 minutes. I’m not really sure what this is. It’s supposed to be quirky souls like Anime looking graphics game. Honestly, it’s just roaming around in a decent looking 3D world. This feels like an alpha and a proof of concept. It feels really loose especially with the jumping so this is a pass unless it becomes a lot more polished. 4.5/10

Princess Pomu and the 5 Moons – 6 minutes. Yet another 2D Metroidvania about a Princess and the graphics are kind of tiny and the music is pretty good. The controls were good enough with the Series X controller. Not enough direction here either as I wasn’t sure where to go in the village. 5/10

QUIT TODAY – 12 minutes. This one is a stylized 2D beat em up combo game thing about a guy quitting his job. It’s very loose feeling but has a cool feel to it. It does need polishing, but would make a decent enough bundle game down the line. 6/10

Rack and Slay – 2 minutes. Rogue little billiard ball game. You hit yourself around and try to get enemies in holes. It’s not very exciting although it is original. 5.5/10

Realms of Ink – 19 minutes. This one is a Hades like. You play some Chinese warrior I believe and move around and it looks and plays pretty nice, but feels a lot more repetitive here. I also think the sounds are quite good and the controller with the Series X is solid. Enemies also show you attack places where their attacks land to make for some good timing. Overall it’s a bundle game, but not the worst Hades like game I’ve played. 6.5/10

Shadow of Depth – 7 minutes. This one is a top down action kind of Diablo like game. It plays OK enough and reminds me of older games where the action is okay but clunky. It has decent graphics too and plays pretty well with the Series X controller. It is alright, but I think there are better action games like this. 6/10

StormEdge – 12 minutes. This one is a souls like game with auto attacks and dodging to make attacks that can only get rid of shields of those types. The main enemies are fun but the bosses pretty much take you out in 2 hits. It’s really cheap, although it plays OK. 6.5/10

Sword of Convallaria – 18 minutes completed a few battles. This one is a Final Fantasy Tactics going to be F2P type game with nice graphics/music and alright gameplay. It feels optimized for mobile platforms. The demo is very long if you want to play it approximately 10 hours. I’m not sure if it will be badly monetized, but it has a lot going on. The battles are okay overall, but probably the weakest part along with a slightly generic story at times. 7/10

Swordplay~Karakuri~Strange Tale – 3 minutes. This is a strange throwback to the PS1 days with decent samurai times graphics and AWFUL almost worst than tank controls. This was a choice and a horrible one, especially since it sounded and looked alright even though the fighting felt very basic. The controls just need to be changed for this one to be playable. 4.5/10

Tales of Kenzera™: ZAU – 27 minutes. This one is another 2D Metroidvania, but this one has wonderful graphics with an original story about a Shaman going on a journey. It also some cool forms and just plays well. It controls very well with a Series X controller. I thought there was a challenge early on that I tried about 15-20 times and it was way too precise. I didn’t like that at all, and it felt cheap and random instead of fun. Other than that this one is gold and is from EA originals, so the quality is to be expected. 7.5/10

Tendryll – 23 minutes died on one run. This one is a cross between Slay the Spire and tactical strategy games. You have in 2 heroes you control in the demo who have movement cards and attack/magic/whatever else cards. You have 3 energy a turn like in Slay the Spire and can play your cards. You also get to use the terrain to do things like bumping an enemy into something for more damage like Into the Breach. Overall, I liked the graphics, the UI was OK enough, the gameplay fun but hard, the music and sound were decent and I was having fun. This seems like the type of roguelites I like. 7.5/10

Terra Memoria – 9 minutes played 2 battles. This one is an RPG where you play a rhino mage and it has a timing system similar to Grandia where actions take a certain amount of time. The graphics are really solid other than the backgrounds. The music is also a little generic sounding but good. The battles run a little long and I don’t like how you don’t know how much HP an enemy has. Overall, this needs some polish in parts and maybe a little tweak for battles so it’s not just guesswork for choosing damage on attacks. It is fun, but feels more like a bundle or cheaper sale game. 6.5/10

TH3-M15 GUILD – 10 minutes. Yet another Vampire Survivors like. This one takes place in a robotic office looking environment. This environment reminds me of the level in Holocure. I felt the primary weapon for the demo player was a little off in aiming until it gained levels, but otherwise was a decent game. You have missions to do and try to do them. You need money from defeated robots to open doors and activate different things. Honestly this is a decent, but not great one, but still had good music and graphics, and okay controls with the Series X controller. 6.5/10

Time to Strike – 7 minutes. This is another Vampire Survivors like more in tune with Brotato. This takes place in a small arena and you have a blaster with ammo and a beat. You have a stamina meter for hits as well which can knock back red bullets and also reload your gun if you hit an enemy, which also slows time. At the end of every round, you get a choice of 3 upgrades which include generic ones as well as new attacks. This is an alright game with decent enough graphics, but the arenas feel tiny. I think that’s the biggest knock other than feeling very simple. 5.5/10

Tiny Chaos – 4 minutes. This is yet another Vampire Survivors like. This one is very, very simple where you play an anime looking avatar class and shoot your weapon a bunch at slimes and stuff and get boring upgrades that are percentiles like damage and attack speed. Very, very, very generic. 5/10

Tokyo Waning Moon – 2 minutes. One of those stand in place and attack to the left and right only games. This one looks OK but plays horribly. It all felt loose and the enemies just kept coming. This felt so unpolished almost barely a game as well. Felt like a very basic arcade game. 4/10

Toree Saturn – 5 minutes completed 1 level which is the whole demo. This is a 3D platformer in the Toree series with good music, decent graphics and okay controls with the Series X controller. One main issue is the camera sucks a lot and must be manually controlled. This is a good speed running game, and I should play the others in the series before this one comes out. I wasn’t crazy about this and felt it was pretty loose and likely will be very short on release. I would only get bundled. 5.5/10

Tower of Dreams – 3 minutes completed 1 level. This is a 2D platformer collecting diamonds and get to the exit game. It’s pretty much the most basic of basic from platformers. The graphics are kind of small, and the music and sounds are just OK. The controls are a little loose with the Series X controller, but it’s clean for the most part. Way too basic for me and would only get in the cheapest bundles. 5/10

Trash of the Titans – 7 minutes. This a very basic, very small graphics, minimalistic music turn based strategy game where you play animals defending trash. You use skills and attack and try to win. At the end you play a Tetris mini game (doesn’t move just the placement of tiles) with the trash to feed your heroes. It’s another that’s way too basic and minimalistic to want to play long. I would only get in a cheap bundle. 5/10

Ultros – 16 minutes. This one is another 2D Metroidvania except it feels like an acid trip. The graphics are the most stunning thing with being all neon and weird looking. You go around and eat stuff to get level ups and explore in this weird space. You can also knock out parts of the environment to go places. This feels way more style over substance as it doesn’t control amazingly, but it is an experience. Not my favorite, but would be neat bundled. 6/10

Underling Uprising – 6 minutes. This one is a 2D beat em up game with loose feeling controls, pretty decent graphics, sounds and music. Overall, this one felt clean enough, but I didn’t enjoy the action as much. It also didn’t help a lot of these enemies had a bit too much HP. 5.5/10

Veiled Edge – 11 minutes. This one is a keyboard only for now 2D action platformer about a guy who wins an award and is put in a game to show his action skills. Honestly it looks and sounds pretty cool with a thumping soundtrack and good sounds, but the keyboard controls are not amazing. The worse is the shift button shifting to these little round things and the dashing and slashing. This desperately needs native controller support as the keyboard controls feels convoluted. Other than that it’s pretty clean, but not very exciting with very few enemy types as well. 6/10

Virtua Unlimited Project – 8 minutes completed opening level. This one is 2D anime looking Mega Man/Zero inspired game. This one has some girl who shoots guns and also gets a sword to do moves. The controls are a tiny bit janky mainly cause the long jump command feels weird, the shooting is on the RB of the Series X controller, and the dashing is just OK. Overall, I feel the controls need a little polish, and the graphics/sounds are neat looking, but a little blurry pixelated overall. It has potential, but there are better Mega Man/Zero likes. 6/10

V's Rage – 4 minutes. I liked the parody nature of the story in a 2D beat em up game, but other than the hand drawn graphics the action is very first game quality. The animations are not all quite there and the gameplay is floaty and a bit repetitive. This feels like an alpha for sure. 4/10

The Weird Dream – 15 minutes. Yet another 2D Metroidvania game starry a bunny with a sword. This one feels super janky especially in jumping and combat. There are even jelly floors which make the bouncing around even worse. This has some potential as the graphics and music are alright, but it felt a bit too jank to not just want to get it in a cheap bundle. 5.5/10

Welcome to ParadiZe – 27 minutes. This one is a relatively polished not quite AAA title about a zombie open world living area that has gone wrong. It has quirk characters, relatively just OK voice acting, somewhat finicky controls, especially for commanding your zombie to do thing, and is a little generic in the gather junk to make junk game. This feels like prime bundle material or very, very cheap sale game for those who like open world zombie/survival games. I know this is getting a physical release on consoles, but I’d wait till it’s on clearance to get it. 6/10

Welcome to Planet E1d0r4d0! – 4 minutes. Another janky quirky doujin style game about a girl who hears from her sister and travels to the planet to find her and her bar in a 2D action adventure game. This one has where you can move with the controller but do nothing else so you have to use a lot of keys on the keyboard in an action heavy game. This is not optimized well for wide screen computers with a lot of text being cut off on a recipe, so I had to guess when I served a girl in the bar. I also didn’t like how in the text boxes they would bounce to signify emotions or something and it just hurt my eyes seeing the screen shake and bounce so much. The graphics for the game are OK, but the ones for the character portraits are decent. If this had better controller support, I would say it was OK, but without it, this seems a bit hollow and quirky with maybe not as much substance. 5/10

Wings of Seduction: Bust 'em out! – 26 minutes completed demo. This is yet another Vampire Survivors like game but this in 18+ space shooting one where you kind of play an arcade thing where you do get more guns and levels slowly at first and fight some bosses, but you also need to attack areas to unclothe a female. It’s really dumb and has some challenge, but is way too long for a level for how repetitive it could become. One cool thing is that you get enhancements for your weapons that do different effects and make them more powerful. Overall is was more quality than I expected, but it still felt cheap. 6/10

Wishbound Empires – 6 minutes. This is a weird pretty bare bones slightly confusing deck building Japanese themed 18+ game. The music is very standard sounding and the graphics other than visual novel parts are bare bones. I actually really like the faces for the characters as they are less anime and a bit more realistic. The gameplay itself is a mess and very confusing. I didn’t get much more past the tutorial. 4/10

Youka and Her Summer – 5 minutes. This is an ultra janky horror walking simulator way too much motion blur clunky feeling couldn’t get out of the first room type of games. I don’t mind these first-person horror games too much, but you can’t make someone feel so bad in the first room. Also, the blink of the girl adds to the janky graphics. 4/10

Zero Division – 16 minutes. This is a Neo Tokyo taking place CCG cross deck builder where each ally clone has energy to play cards and can also drag itself once to attack with its value. It honestly was pretty easy to play and had a decent enough tutorial (not a bad thing when compared to many other demos and some games). I thought this one had good enough graphics and music, had straightforward and decent gameplay and was a pretty good game. The only thing I would change is to make it a lot easier to tell who’s going to take damage instead of just seeing it on mouse over. 7.5/10

Zet Zillions – 21 minutes completed first area. This one is a deck building somewhat Slay the Spire type of card game where you play some space captain and have to use your card to deal damage. This one has really unique graphics and music. The sound is also very good. The unique thing about the gameplay in this one is the ability to combine some cards to power them up or change them and also a population thing on enemies where you can send your people in them and once it meets or exceeds their population, they become stunned for a turn. Honestly the story is quirky and wacky and doesn’t interest me much, but the space exploration is different, I like the combat quite a bit, and the challenge was pretty good especially for the main boss of the area. This one is more unique, and I think somewhat risqué as well for like showing muscle bodies. I like this enough to get it bundled or on an okay enough sale. 8/10

I vote down every stupid Steam review and most of those are my definition of stupid. Stupid reviews include nothing about the game in particular (like these life stories), recipes for apple pie or something, son are you winning memes on every adult game, and those "Funny" reviews where like I am now a worshiper of the Sandwich religion. Call me boring but I like to read something useful in the reviews.

Also I have about 30 more games that or may or may not get to. I'm going to prioritize more decent looking ones, and others just are getting skipped. There is a lot of games in these Steam Fests and many are not anywhere close to being something to be decently played.

Randomly came across this person's review twice on two different games.

He seemingly left the same "review" on 2229 games.

I can only assume he's farming reactions or whatever... Do they give steam points to the person who receives them?
If you gift someone a reward, they'll receive steam points for it. I didn't notice rewards attached to any of his reviews but they could've given it to his steam profile.

If you start at the last page, he has quite a few reactions awarded in more popular games like Forza. I can't help but think there's got to be better ways to get Steam points than copy-pasting the same thing 2,230 times though.

Ultimate Zombie Defense is free on Steam until 2/11 at 1:00 pm EST so act fast! That's only 2 hours from now!

Yet more Steamfest Impressions. These are mainly adventures/visual novels/narrative games that I try to give about 10 minutes to each. Some I give more time and sometimes I suffer more through these. I have I believe 15 more to go although I'm not sure I'll make it through all of them. I still have 1 more that thekbob recommended in that Serious Sam rouge lite one. Hauntii was the obvious winner of this group. It has a very unique premise and is just beautiful all around. These type of games are the ones that make you say video games are art. Other than that I recommend Magical Delicacy (may be a bit too simple but is quite beautiful as well), PRIM (now this is an adventure game I can get behind...beautiful graphics and decent puzzles), Pyrene (a bit of a weird and sometimes RNG dependent rogue lite about fighting monsters and traversing areas on card at a time on a grid), Queer Quest: All in a Gay's Work (interesting enough overall with likely the best puzzles I've played in an adventure game this fest. They just were very logical, which is not the usual for the genre), and Roman Sands RE:Build (weird game overall that may just be a glorified task simulator, but it had an interesting premise). There are also visual novels here that I gave okay grades too, but I didn't play long enough in most of them. Of them I thought Love In Login was cute and had one of the more interesting stories, as it was based off a webtoon. Harold Halibut also looked great for the most part claymation wise (this has been in the works for 10 years I believe), but the story and characters weren't drawing me in as much. I generally gave my higher score to that based on the look of the game.

Beloved Rapture – 15 minutes. This one is an RPG very much like FF6 especially. The music and graphics are similar. It feels like a decent throwback with an average story so far (people doing things other don’t like and drifting apart). It also did the horrible cliché of all this stuff happens and now we go back one year before it happens. I hate that, but it is has been done a million times before. Overall, I liked this one a bit, but the gameplay itself is what felt off for me. The movement with the Series X controller sometimes doesn’t feel clean when going around and the walking speed is snail pace. Also, in combat there is a real time feeling to the enemies acting, but the major flaw is that you can’t choose commands or anything when you’re getting attacked. It makes everything feel so clunky. This game looks like it will be a slow chugger. 6/10

Blood Midnight Blossom – 3 minutes got the first bad ending. This is a visual novel about some girl who is about to die or something because she inherited the debt of her father (sounds stupid already) and leaves her house and meets a girl who says she can inherit the debt if she works with her. It all didn’t make too much sense honestly, with okay character graphics and backgrounds, no voices, and an interesting enough story at least. This I would only get very cheap or bundled, but it seems to be a little different story wise at least. 6/10

Bring Me that Shawarma – 1 minute. Three different visual novels all dealing with Shawarma. It has good character graphics, decent enough backgrounds, some interesting graphics of real-world places now and then, and is unique in the stories at least. The main thing is this seems hokey and silly, but I’m sure would bring me a tiny bit of joy seeing how silly/dumb/horror/whatever the different stories could be. 5/10

Enelia: Dawn of Madness – 4 minutes. This is another visual novel with quite gorgeous graphics and decent music with some voice acting in it. It’s about some girl who doesn’t like the evil of a coming-of-age festival in her village. The game soft locked on me or something when it asked me to look at her diary or something and I clicked on the book, but it just wouldn’t move on and I looked at everything. This seems to have good ideas and great art, but need polishing especially since I rarely ever see visual novel style games just come to a halt like that. 5.5/10

Exit: A Biodelic Adventure – 6 minutes. This one is a sc-fi adventure with strange painted backgrounds, an alright soundtrack and has a lot of quirkiness including weird characters and a lady with a triple boob. Honestly this one seemed decent enough quality wise and it seemed like it had a fun world. I’m not as crazy about adventure games anymore, but this one would be nice bundled. 6.5/10

Fade Memory – I have no idea but it seems like a 2D adventure game about being in strange places. After the opening scene, which worked on keyboard and controller to move dialogue along, I couldn’t move or interact at all with the main character. The graphics and sound seemed OK. The demo doesn’t work. 1/10

Fallen Seeds – 2 minutes. This one is a visual novel dating sim about a guy who is a secret agent in an anthropomorphic society where you investigate to figure out the secrets of an ancient civilization. Honestly it looks and sounds very good. The story seemed a little silly for what I read, but it could be good. Overall, I think this is a quality one that will be on sale or bundled. 7/10

Fragmented City – 10 minutes. This one is a kind of mini open world bird people city thing where you do tasks and chil music plays. It’s a bit barren honestly, but the game controls and looks OK enough. I would only get it bundled, but it wasn’t terrible. 6/10

Harold Halibut – 43 minutes. This one is a hand made adventure game where everyone is made out of clay and animates that way. Usually, it’s quite excellent and it has a good atmosphere where you live in a place under the ocean. This one is quite slow and a little wonky at times, but seems OK enough. There is a lot of work put into this one and I feel it will be a worthy game although I’m not a huge fan of Harold himself, who is a bit of a pushover. I don’t know how long the demo is, but there seems to be a good amount to it. 7/10

Hauntii – 12 minutes. This one is a hauntingly beautiful adventure type game where you play a soul who is traveling through a black and white land. The Series X controls work well, the haunting part is cool and the music is beautiful as well. This is a no brainer recommendation for getting on sale or in a bundle. It was really nice and I’m sure will tell a great story. 9/10

The Hungry lamb : Traveling in the Late Ming Dynasty – 4 minutes. This is another visual novel taking place in the late Ming Dynasty where you and a partner are to escort 4 girls aka lambs and this is about your journey and the decisions you make on the way. Honestly the art was really nice, the voice acting well done, and it looks to be an interesting probably very likely dark story. I would play it from a bundle or a cheaper sale. 7/10

Love Delivery – 13 minutes. This one is a dating simulation where you play a loser who gets in an accident and is helped by a girl. He thinks she is good looking and just hopes to stop being a loser and get a girlfriend. He loses his delivery job, and is asked to work at a café. In between story you raise stats (a bit repetitive) in a year timeframe so for 52 weeks. I thought this had pretty nice art, decent voice acting for the two girls, and seemed fun enough. I didn’t like it a whole lot, but for very cheap or bundled it would be alright. 6/10

Love In Login – 10 minutes. This one is about a guy and he works for a company and has played a game they’ve run for a while. He likes to party with one character. One girl wins a contest the company is running and he ends up at her apartment after it floods. He goes to help get the laptop and sees the girl plays that character. Of course they’ve been friends online and stuff happens. There is very light dating sim elements as well. I liked this one enough. The voice acting was solid enough, the character art and backgrounds also good enough and it seemed nice. This story is based off a web novel. I would get it bundled or pretty cheap. 7/10

LoveSick Darlings – 6 minutes. This one is about a guy who’s friends with some girls and their stories. I just played the prologue but I believe there is quite a bit of drama in this. The backgrounds aren’t as nice, and have the more stock photo feel, and the characters have a certain simple charm to them. There is also some English dialogue for both the girls and the main character, which is unique. I enjoyed this enough to get it cheap or in a bundle. 6.5/10

M City – 3 minutes. Extremely clunk running on stand alone adventure flash game where you play some kid in a weird city. This was so clunky and I had a hard time trying to get off the first scene. The graphics are very dated as well. This feels like a relic of Newgrounds or something. 4/10

Magical Delicacy – 14 minutes completed 1 mission and explored the city a bit. This one is a very quaint life simulator type thing where you play a witch and move to a city where you’re going to do witch things and help out the people around you. The music is pleasant and the graphics are quite beautiful. It’s very simple but it is fun if you like those games where you do tasks and harvest and cook stuff. 7/10

Mutants Ate My Carrots – 9 minutes. This one is an adventure game about a rabbit who gets his carrots stolen. He is all buff and he can also punch and kick things. Honestly the graphics are nice enough but I couldn’t figure out the puzzle to get another worm. Was still okay enough, but only get in a bundle. 6/10

The Other Side of Mist and Mountain – 4 minutes. This one is one of those ones where you can control a person going back and forth 2D adventure game with pretty decent graphics and some horror looking areas mystery game. This one seemed OK, but had a somewhat iffy translation and somewhat iffy controls. I’m sure it will be alright. 6/10

Paper Ghost Stories: Third Eye Open – 6 minutes. This one is a narrative game about a girl who can see ghosts and her adventures. The translation is decent enough (believe the original is Malaysian), but the script is very, very wordy and not that interesting so far. I love the paper cutout type graphics, but I didn’t quite enjoy the rest. I’m sure there is good stuff here, but I didn’t feel like going on. 5.5/10

Pizza Spy – 29 minutes. This one is a point and click cheeky detective adventure. I couldn’t complete the demo as I ran out of stuff to interact with. I liked the dialogue and the gameplay was OK, but the kind of action sneaking/being overt was not to my liking. This is a bit unpolished gameplay wise, but I enjoyed it. Also, the graphics evoke a Saturday morning cartoon vibe. 6/10

Pricolage -IDOLIZED- 15 minutes completed demo. This is a weird one where you try to figure out the mystery of a missing idol from clues on her social media and others. This one is a little one dimensional, and has been a side quest in some other games I’ve played (find words to make conversation or search things). I love the music and the graphics are pretty decent. I just think this one will be really short, but I’d get it really cheap or in a bundle. 6/10

PRIM – 11 minutes. This one is a point and click adventure about a girl who is an adopted daughter of Death (the one with the scythe). This one has a really cool looking art style, decent voice acting, okay point and click interface and seems pretty high quality. I’m not crazy for these games, but in a bundle I’d quite like this one. 7.5/10

Pyrene – 24 minutes completed 1 level fully. This one was an interesting rogue lite where you play a girl who is adventuring after returning to her village and seeing it in shambles. It is an interesting one where you go a space at a time for fighting and use cards in your deck and fight enemies. You do provisions to replace cards on the board until you find an end point which completes the fight. This is the same for the boss fights as well. There is a lot more quirks like relics, different spaces for upgrading/finding stuff, and just exploring in general. This one has good graphics, music and sound and is easy to play. Overall, I’m not sure I’d buy it on release, as it didn’t totally excite me, but I would get it on a good sale or in a bundle. 7.5/10

Queer Quest: All in a Gay's Work – 12 minutes completed the demo. Honestly this one wasn’t too bad at all. The puzzles were logical, there was a lot of representation, the music was pretty indie and chill and it wasn’t too bad at all. It pretty much is just an adventure game with some mystery and adventure going on. 7/10

Rift Survivors – 4 minutes. Yet another Vampire Survivors like that I didn’t play in the last bunch. This one had graphics that felt small, was relatively easy with the auto aiming spell and just felt very generic. Also, the movement speed was very slow to start. I also thought it was kind of interesting alternating between spells and passive buffs every other level. Would only get bundled as it didn’t incite much of anything. 5/10

Roman Sands RE:Build – 34 minutes. This one is just weird where you complete tasks in a loop. There are so many eccentric characters and the environment is weird. I’m guessing like Deathloop you eventually figure out the perfect loop to complete the game. I thought it looked and felt OK, but everything was maybe too quirky for me. I also didn’t enjoy know how much the demo blocked off and what was possible for tasks. Overall, it was high quality but not for me. 7/10

Tried that Pacific Drive game. Its a solo survival game set in a weird gravity gone crazy zone in the northwest. UI is a bit crazy but it has a neat 90s look and reminds me of subnautica.

Does Panzer Dragoon still hold up at all these days? I'm just curious cause I remember the remake not reviewing very well.
Probably cuz it's Forever Entertainment that did the remake.. I think they put minimal effort into the Front Mission and House of the Dead remakes as well. They seem like a budget publisher that don't spend much money on remakes or anything else they publish.

Been playing Paw Paw Paw because I was looking for more 2D sidescrolling beat'mup rpgs in my library.

It's not that great.
I wanted to like it, but it doesn't seem like they bothered doing any balancing if you aren't playing with 4 players. Some later levels I can see being fine if you have companions, but they're nearly impossible without them. I only managed to get by after reducing difficulty and always having a lot of potions on hand.
The RPG aspect is minimal. Only a leveling system and upgrade tree. Though I guess that's most of the RPG aspect in every game. Just felt small because leveling doesn't make your character better, just gives a skill point to use on the tree. Most of the upgrade tree is dedicated to upgrading stats. Other than that there are a few combos, a few inventory upgrades, a few "weapon mastery" upgrades (that allows you to equip higher level weapons), and a few skill upgrades. It's annoying to not get any better weapons, so you spend your skill point to get a strength increase instead of upgrading a skill or getting more room for potions.
Hitboxes feel horrible. It's one of those games where I constantly felt like I was swinging through enemies and getting hit from people not close to me. And it's entirely possible to get knocked down when facing a group of enemies then getting "stun locked" to death. They'll sit on top of your character, all attacking at random times, then you'll get up and immediately get hit before you can do anything, then either get knocked back down, or stunned, or whatever. This is one of the issues with playing solo.
Weapons progression is bad. I went over half the game with the same weapon because nothing better for me ever dropped. It's one of those games that has a bunch of weapons that are nearly the same, but one might give you a slight chance to stun or poison. But since drops are random, you'll constantly get stuff worse than what you have or not for your character. But I have the same complaint about so many games that handle weapons similarly.

Last major Demo Dump™ for this NextFest. I have a few more games to play, but won't get to them tonight.

Per my new, handy-dandy spreadsheet, it says I got through 77 demos this event. Pretty good overall. Out of 77 games, 22 were worth of recommendations on my part.

Balatro is the highest recommendation, probably followed by Mouthwashing, Obsidian Legend, HeistGeist, and Hauntii to round a Top 5 picks.

So, Homeworld 3. The complaints are legit. I hate the UI and the camera controls. The new game mode, what little I saw of it before I quit in frustration due to the camera controls seems ok if small in scope. Heres hoping the delay gets things figured out. At least they put in a lot of options to change things but it is hard to imagine how you screw up a pretty good control system from the previous 3 games, HW1/2 and Cataclysm/Emergence.

Its not a good sign when one of the dev's marketing team puts out a 20 min video explaining the camera controls for the demo.

Does Panzer Dragoon still hold up at all these days? I'm just curious cause I remember the remake not reviewing very well.

From what I’ve heard, the remake launched in a pretty poor state, but has patched most of the issues out. It sounds like aiming the reticle still feels a bit loose compared to the original, though.

As for whether the game itself holds up, I guess that depends on how you feel about these sorts of cinematic rail shooters in general. It’s a very short and arcadey experience, but if you know what you’re getting into, I think it’s a pretty good example.

How in the HELL can they get any scummier, jesus christ. I saw the Part 1 set go up during the Xmas sale, posted about it in the forums and was ignored.

The funny thing is, I already own Year 1, anyone who did the Hitman 1+2 content import into the 3 demo before the world of assassination release has everything they need to play the games in the 3 engine.

I'm not touching that game until they release WoA in a Humble Choice. fucking scam artists.

I think since I own H1 GOTY and H2 GOTY, I'd only need H3, right?

I think since I own H1 GOTY and H2 GOTY, I'd only need H3, right?

You can't combine them anymore via the IOI website since Jan '23. I missed out on that by not having an account set up or something. So I have to buy everything in the WOA combo or dlc addons to get 1+2 and all the extra missions.

I hate this new CAG website... it tells me in my notifications that the thread hasn't updated since Friday.. but that's clearly not true. But if I go to Cheapy's thread he'll just respond with some jerk comment... very frustrating.

Almost as bad as ITAD taking their website down during major sales or events... or even just over the weekend.
