you dont have to have it on a usb drive if you dont want. you can sign in and go to the game and manage it to redownload it, same with dlc for 360 games. I guess the usb drive would be good for slower or capped connections. 

you need the adapter. it comes with the converter. I use my turtle beach set I got at target last year for $10 on both my 360 and one. I know this is an old thread, figured I would respond in case anyone finds this looking for the answer
