50% off Criterion sale @ Barnes & Nobles (ends 07/28/14).

They're pretty good, but none are of Daisies quality. My second-favorite film from the set is probably Pearls of the Deep. I've met some people who like The Joke and A Report on the Party and Guests a bunch, but those two don't really do it for me. Of course you can get Milos Forman's Loves...

Persona Q Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth: Premium Edition up for Preorder

My bad--it doesn't say that you can't get it in stores on the site. That either means A) I'm crazy, B) it did say that, but they changed it (before just now, I last checked yesterday), or C) both A&B.

Persona Q Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth: Premium Edition up for Preorder

The Atlus page about the pre-order for the game implies that you'll only be able to get the premium edition through Amazon, Amazon.ca, gamestop.com, ebgames.ca, and videogamesplus.ca.  I hate both Amazon and Gamestop, so decided to give VGP a shot--after shipping (I live in the U.S.) and the...

    Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterion sale - 10/30 to 11/19

I was happy to grab both A Separation and Midnight in Paris for half off in the non-Criterion art house side of this sale. A Separation especially; I hadn't seen it much cheaper than $25 since its release, but was $18 before membership discounts and the like here.

    Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterion sale - 10/30 to 11/19

Cool about pre-orders working online (for now, at least)--I just pre-ordered the blu-ray Qatsi Trilogy set. I love those movies, and I bet they'll look (and sound) gorgeous on blu-ray, and I'm anxious to get them, too, as I already sold my non-Criterion DVDs of them in anticipation of this...

(DEAD) Buy Any 2 Upcoming Studio Ghibli Blu-ray titles for $38 at Best Buy

From what I've seen, people are just speculating at this point. To further complicate things, all of the Targets around me have a tendency to throw the slipcovers away (they won't fit in their blu-ray keepers if they keep them on), so even if A) there are coupons on the front and B) Target will...

(DEAD) Buy Any 2 Upcoming Studio Ghibli Blu-ray titles for $38 at Best Buy

Amazon price matched, finally. Just ordered The Secret World of Arietty and Whisper of the Heart for $37.98 total. If it works out to where further tomfoolery can be pulled at Target, I'll probably still have time to cancel--I just got Super Saver shipping, and they haven't been shipping on or...

    Picross 3D (NDS) -- $14.00 + eligble for FSSS

On Amazon under product details it will say "Discontinued by manufacturer: Yes," though it says this just at the point that the manufacturer isn't going to make any more; depending on the game a lot of times copies are still floating around for sale new long after that point. Sort-of...

    Picross 3D (NDS) -- $14.00 + eligble for FSSS

This game's officially out of print now, too, so if you want it I wouldn't keep waiting for a better price (though now that I've said that one will probably come up).

Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterion Collection sale: July 12 - Aug. 1

I bought it in store the day after it came out with no problem. They had maybe four of them when I was there.

Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterion Collection sale: July 12 - Aug. 1

Have you seen Secret Sunshine already? It's great; I have it preordered at Amazon for $25.99, because me waiting for November for it is not going to happen. Lee Chang-dong's newer movie, Poetry, is almost as good, and is being released by Kino the same day that Criterion is releasing Secret...

Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterion Collection sale: July 12 - Aug. 1

I second Le Cercle Rouge as the best of the three, but I also second that all three are good (I own them all).

Ninokuni (Studio Ghibli) NDS $39.90 @ Play Asia

Mine came in the mail today, and while I haven't gotten to actually play the game much yet, man am I happy with it. Specifically the whole package--I don't recall ever being so pleased with just the presentation of the game. The book is gorgeous, and it also comes with a separate index, the...

Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterion Collection sale: July 12 - Aug. 1

I've seen it and didn't much like it. I've also read the book, which is better, but not my favorite among classic Japanese fiction. That said (about the movie), I'm not always a big fan of Kon Ichikawa--I like Fires on the Plain and Tokyo Olympiad, but don't really like The Burmese Harp or The...

Let the throttling begin: Netflix raising prices almost double in Sept

It seems like most everyone I know basically only streams or only gets discs; I fall in the only gets discs camp. I was on the one at a time plan, so they just saved me $2 a month. This only really sucks if you use both equally; it's good for everyone else. If you think that pirating movies...

Ninokuni (Studio Ghibli) NDS $39.90 @ Play Asia

At the time of this writing, they're down to their last two copies. This happened last week, too, and when it went out of stock it went back up to full price ($79.90). Then it came back in stock and the price went back down. Shrug. It says the sale is for a limited time, so I don't know how...

Ninokuni (Studio Ghibli) NDS $39.90 @ Play Asia

Play Asia has Ninokuni, the RPG that Level-5 (the Professor Layton series) made with Studio Ghibli (Hayao Miyazaki's animation studio--Miyazaki's usual composer Joe Hisaishi did the music for the game, too), on sale for $39.90, which is basically half price. Shipping is a bummer--the cheapest...

    Prinny 2 (PSP) $11.71 on Amazon * Back to 19.99 *

This game is super hard, but I bought it the day it came out at full price and am glad I did. It's very fun and addictive. And yes, I did beat it (on Normal mode). If you're on the fence, I vote buy it.

Return of the Asian bluray thread!

That's the UK's ratings system, like the MPAA here. Classification 15 means it is appropriate for people aged 15 and up. It has nothing to do with player compatability.
