FWIW, when I went to my Best Buy the clerk went to the manager, etc (long story). Eventually I spoke with the manager one-on-one and he said that if the clerk rings up more than 3 pennied guides, the system flags them (which I guess is a bad thing). So I guess it's better to just buy 3 guides...
