If Portal goes on sale between now and Christmas, this is exactly what I intend to do. I've read their Knowledge Base article on gifting, and it looks like it would work. Gifts don't expire, and you can resend an invite to someone else as long as it hasn't been redeemed.

Exactly that. I had pre-ordered Wii Sports Resort before I was an ECA member. I had decided not to cancel and re-order with the discount, but then it showed up in my Quick Picks. Since they were offering to renegotiate, I bit. With the ECA + Quick Pick price it went from $47 to just under $40...

For San Diego area folks, I was at the San Marcos, CA store today and they had about 25 of these out @ $9.99 each.

If you like puzzle games, Rittai Picross (essentially 3D Picross) is all kinds of awesome. I don't understand any Japanese, but I was able to work through the tutorials with no problem.
