My Target order got through and is ready for pick-up. Just random chance I happened to be awake at the right time. Still took about 30 minutes of refreshing the shopping cart and spamming the order button to get the confirmation message.

Heads up, regional Targets have the PS5 in-stock online for in-store pickup. I got an order through at my local So Cal Target. Hope they don't cancel.

The PS2 launch might be worse; similar demand to PS5 but with less than 1/6 the supply.

Got an update from Octoshop at 12:03 AM PST, went to Amazon, added PS5 to my cart, tried to check out, and that's as far as I got before the out-of-stock message.

I also have the 55" LG CX. It's perfect for both consoles AND PC. I played Yakuza 0 at 4K 120fps on my RTX 2070 Super.

I guess if the "check again" message reappears that'll be a good sign of the next drop.

I caved and bought a month of Plus for $10. Besides the saved payment info, I can upload my PS4 saves to the cloud and use the expedited shipping IF I can secure a PS5, so I guess it's not a total loss.

I haven't purchased from Sony Direct before, so I don't have saved payment info for the PS5 order.

I just wish Sony Direct let you save your payment info beforehand. We shouldn't have to buy something to get a basic feature on pretty much every other online storefront. I know Sony doesn't have the greatest track record with data security, but still...

With that one weird trick, I advanced to the payment info page before the OOS message, so I guess that's progress.

Depends if the queue is based on PS5 drops or just a heavy increase in traffic in anticipation of PS5 drops.

If you got as far as the Sony checkout, may as well leave it there for next time, assuming Sony doesn't remove them.

But now that the bypass/noscript trick is out, won't we have a bypass line instead of a virtual queue? So our chances of getting one only marginally increase.

So what's the social media etiquette for people who manage to snag something in a product launch? If announcing you ordered a PS5 upsets those who haven't managed to, is the appropriate reaction complete silence or extreme survivor's guilt?

I had both the Walmart PS5 and cart pages open, thinking that might help, but that just meant two tabs freezing up at the same time.

Twice the stores, double the disappointment. 

I missed out on 4 launches; I ended up getting the PS2 in 2001, the PS3 in 2007, the PS4 in 2014, and, by the looks of it, I won't get the PS5 until 2021.

Well, unless you're in the market for a new Nvidia or (soon) AMD GPU.
