Major Bad News for Rhino Shoppers - Rhino Bought by GameStop

This is correct, all Rhino locations will be closed on the 14th to convert and will reopen on the 15th as Gamestops, far as we can tell. It's almost freaky how quiet and secretive they're being with this. What, do it quick and no one will notice? /sigh

Major Bad News for Rhino Shoppers - Rhino Bought by GameStop

Right now I'm inclined to say any Rhino employee will try and squeeze the best deal they possibly can out of your trades as a small way of protesting the buyout. My roommate works tomorrow, time to head in and buy up all the used stuff I want with his discount before it's all shipped out.

Major Bad News for Rhino Shoppers - Rhino Bought by GameStop

I have to ask, are the HQ guys getting to run Rhino for this last week and a half or are they being pushed out the door? If you can't tell, that's the part that steams me the most. I worked in the distribution center for a few months and got to know nearly all of HQ even better than I had...

Major Bad News for Rhino Shoppers - Rhino Bought by GameStop

Yay! Another convert! Go Rhino go! And I think you hit the nail on the head. Rhino employees were in no way ever encouraged to do underhanded things like selling opened copies first or push annoying products that the customer clearly has no interest in. It was a great environment for both...

Major Bad News for Rhino Shoppers - Rhino Bought by GameStop

Pish posh, that Goo-B-Gone just got everywhere and never worked, even after soaking the cases in it for hours. My mad label removing skillz were legendary and I needed nothing more than a long thumbnail and time. ;) Oh, and once the conversion's done, Derek is screwed! Jayce, you should know...

Major Bad News for Rhino Shoppers - Rhino Bought by GameStop

Wait-- you had sticker spray?!? Hell, I just worked on it for a while with my fingernails. Even then I had to throw out at least a fifth of the cases. I counted eight (8!) different stickers on the cover of a game once. We could barely make out what the title was. So absurd.

Major Bad News for Rhino Shoppers - Rhino Bought by GameStop

I'll have to admit that this happens at Rhino, too. Aside from the one display copy (which must be opened, there's no two ways about this), if a customer exchanges a new game within the 7 day window, it's placed back on the shelf as new. Yes, it's been handled. Yes, it's most likely seen the...

Major Bad News for Rhino Shoppers - Rhino Bought by GameStop

This is true. I supposed it's a good thing I started boycotting Blockbuster years ago, eh? We were all terrified when the BB buyout happened because we though exactly that, "what does Blockbuster know about video game stores???", but everything seemed to be running pretty much as it was...

Major Bad News for Rhino Shoppers - Rhino Bought by GameStop

They still do that, though even more lenient than you think. Employees could borrow out games that were used, out for at least 30 days and keep them for a week to play. It was awesome. I worked there for two years, before, during and after the Blockbuster acquisition. The whole borrow out...
