As I have been dealing with redbox customer care the last few days I'll throw out this answer. There is no method to which kiosks sell games and which dont. I've been to kiosks that they assure me sell games and don't have the option to purchase and other kiosks they swear dont sell games end up...

Nope, my check out total was 17.98. I did not hold them online either. I hit games for sale, buy 8.99. And received my games. My email receipt said rent 6.40. That is not the option I chose at kiosk.
